Repairing my washing machine has been an exhilarating experience! After watching numerous videos, yours is the one that helped me the most! My lid switch replacement took much longer as I felt compelled to clean the entire machine as I worked:) Everything worked just as in the demonstration, except the top was built differently. Even moving the shell around was manageable with the use of a short table. Your tips for replacing the shell and the screw angle were most helpful. I am a disabled senior with no prior experience, and my heart sank when the machine broke. Now having a functioning machine for less than the cost of a repairman's visit is definitely empowering. I will subscribe to your UTube channel .

Fixed my almost scrapped washer for free with this! Thank you sooo much
Thank you for showing where the 2 Phillips screws to open the top control panel. I could not find them bc the space were so tight and I could not get to back side.
Thanks for this video, I'm a retired handyman and I fix, repair everything. This was a helpful video. All I needed to do was to wrap some gorilla tape around the part on the lid that plunges into the switch to make it work again. The switch worked when I used a screw driver in it, but not by the lid plunger. Works fine now. I'll make something better later on instead of using the tape.

Thanks. Able to finish my laundry load by using a flat head screw driver and locking the switch in place. Might have to do this until I can afford to buy the replacement switch. Many thanks to you again.

Thank you for this video. Was able to fix my washer myself and save some money!
This helped me diagnose my bad lid switch . I unscrewed the switch & pulled it out slightly to look at it to see how it was broken . The tabs connecting the bottom panel of the plastic case to the top were broken which kept the switch lever from activating ; the case would just spread apart . I took a length of wire & wrapped it around the case & twisted the ends tight with pliers to keep the case closed . Now the switch works perfectly ; I didn't have to take the washer apart or buy a new switch .

What if the lid switch is not the problem?
@@asianinvasion3202 Well a lot of it depends on where you washer is stopping in the process of the cycle. Mine would stop a certain point every single time no matter what. The lid switch was cheap so I had no issue with buying it and replacing the current and it indeed was the case with mine.
I had to recently also replace the motor coupler on my machine but was having different issue with my machine than the lid switch.
You could always hire a repair person to come take a look, but for the most part I was able to trouble shoot everything by watching a couple of videos. Most of the issues are very common with these older machines.
I used your video to replace a lid switch in my washing machine. Only question I have is what size screws do I need to attach to the switch to hold it in place. The previous ones fell out when the switch broke off. There was no finding them. Thank you for doing these instructional videos. You saved me a lot of money.

I have a whirlpool etw4400w00 that fills then quits. It will not agitate spin or drain. I replaced the dogs which needed to be replaced anyway but nothing. I don't have a lid switch like yours mine is in back under lid I believe. Any ideas for me? Thank u
people, dont get a new switch if you want it fixed good and forever just zip-tie it. they go bad because the glue wears down that keeps the 2 pieces together so zip tying will be a better fix and actually 10x faster and less hassel
Thanks, I fixed it!!! many thanks!!!!
