watching Billy Connolly often leaves me in pain because I cannot breathe for laughing. so many great stories from him. He's one of the best blokes ever.
As an Ozzie, we are taught from a young age that if you thrash and make lots of noise a shark inclination to attack increases. So when we hear a shark warning we calmly swim towards the beach, then let the thrashing tourists be the bait.
I just discover you couple days ago I’m the old 65 lady from England just me and my baby in New Zealand!!!! Nearly 3 years hope she home next year but billy is the best I grew up in Scotland! He’s. A treasure and your so sweet your laughing makes me laugh!
The one I love is when Billy goes to Ibiza with his family (Live at the Odeon Hammersmith London). I couldn't breathe for laughing first time I heard it. Billy is a genius
Never thought of that - beware!!! Stingers!!!! Ah just another Tuesday. ..but to tourists... It takes on another meaning esp with the heat stopping thing. At the end when he said Auspices seem to be a little tougher (some of us are and some of us are just lazy too) would most of us see a sign and be like wtf or go OK stingers are dangerous let's find out more info... or just just jump in. (Guess it depends on if you get the smart or not so smart ones of us)
My all time favourite stand up comedian ever! Billy makes it up as he goes along, I've never heard of any other stand up who does that. He once said he has no idea what he's going to do or say as he walks on stage, it just comes to him. Billy Connelly is a one off, absolutely brilliant. Such a shame he had to retire because of Parkinsons Disease.
Interesting fact, billy was first told about his potential illness by a Tasmanian (large island at bottom of Australia) doctor who saw him walking one day. Asked him to go see a doctor when he got home. That’s when the diagnosis was discovered. The doctor had recognised his gait as being problematic. We miss seeing you on stage billy, you have been the best of our generation.
Love Billy's work, a very funny man. Love your enjoyment of his take on Aussie wildlife . I'm Australian, depending on where you are, you do take vinegar to the beach. 🤣 🕊️
One of the best laughs on UA-cam! I'm an Aussie - the stories of the dangerous wildlife are generally overblown, although we are host to some potentially dangerous creatures. But more to the point - 80% of our flora and fauna is unique to Australia, so you really should come visit and see all the amazing landscapes and animals and enjoy our welcoming embrace!
Hi from Townsville North Queensland Australia 🙂 and yes during Stinger season if you go to a beach that is unmanned by Lifeguards, you need to carry vinegar woth you. Our Lifesavers make body suits out of womans stockings/pantihose to help protect them.
Billy is the GOAT of story telling to me, i've been a fan of him for over 40 years and still he is the best story teller comedian i know of. Billy doesnt do jokes, well... not really anyway, ofc he told the occasional actual joke but the majority of his amazing standup are stories straight out of his own life or that of his family and friends. He has to ability to make you see the story he's telling, in your mind and he's a master at that. Do check out more of his lovely works, you will laugh your ass of with tears rolling down your cheeks within seconds. The only comedian (to me) who was on par with the comedic genius of Billy is the late, great, Robin Williams. (different comedy but equally funny and for me, he's the GOAT of his style of comedy)
You are a lovely ambassador for Canada. Your sense of humour and openness are wonderful. Keep up the good work ?!! Cheers from one of those tough aussie women 😁
Marvelous reaction. I first saw Billy in the early 1970s wen he was in a duo with Gerry ( Baker Street) Rafferty and amazingly his attempt at humour didn't go down too well.
Yeh mate, my wife kept a redback spider (related but more deadly cousin to your black widow spiders)in a jar and fed it insects to help her get over her fear a bit, now when she sees them she captures them and takes them outside to release them. We love our spiders in Australia.
Live in North Queensland and always have vinegar handy with us when we swim in the ocean, only stung once by a jelly, when I was a kid,. It was like being branded with a red hot piece of wire, no vinegar back then. Son got stung once also, used vinegar to get the tentacle off & help relieve the pain. If you try to pull the tentacles off without the vinegar you inject more venom into the skin. The vinegar helps makes the tentacle barbs retract.
He was right about the tiny Blue Ring Octopus. The tiny things would easily fit cupped in a small child's single hand. But after a single bite, that is actually pretty painless, you would never reach the shore. You only have a few minutes before you are dead. Since there is no antivenom, they have to do CPR until the venom wears off and the body can once again function on its own. Lol the wild life is pretty much deadly here, but thankfully deaths are quite rare. We just keep walking right past and barely give them a glance.
Been to most of Connelly’s live shows in Australia one of the best comedies 👍. I live in Sydney & just walking to my local beach there are big signs warning of Snakes in the area, last week during my walks I felt something on side of my foot & it was a black snake, I flicked it away & continued walking to the beach 😂
I would dare you to watch Billy Connolly live at the Odeon Hammersmith London 1991, it is one of the funniest and best stand up shows. Try and find clips on it.
This is my first time at the channel and have to say, this man has the most gorgeous laugh! Aussie chick 👍🇦🇺 PS. Subbed now ❤️ PSS. Is my man a Libra? You givin’ that cool af charm......
Sydney funnel web spider-deadly, box jellyfish-deadly, blue ringed octopus-deadly. Yeah to name but a few of the many things here that will mess you up if not kill you. Let’s not forget the 5 metre salt water crocs too 🤣
The only people on the beach, friend and I swimming. Came up for a breath to hear friend screaming so bad he couldn't swim. He'd swum into some detached box jellyfish tentacles.
Growing up in Darwin (northern oz) you get used to crocs and box jellies and know how to avoid them. Bears on the other hand can f..k right off. They can swim, run and climb. F..k that.
Yeah, we have the attitude our country is what it is, good and bad, and there’s no sense whinging about the bad so we just get on with dealing with the bad and enjoying the good. Life’s too short........
On the news last week a guy went for a swim and a 6 foot croc latched onto his head. He managed to get it off & drive to the hospital. Last I heard he was ok
Look up on UA-cam The Today Show @Today giant shark the largest filmed shark torpedoing up out I the sea. The Australian presenter said he wouldn't swim again. Also a few days ago they reported on a spider invasion due the wet weather. 100s of the big monsters in people's homes. The presenters brother bit in bed and now in hospital. God they're tough.
Billy didnt mention the drop bears, Bunyips, or Yowies! Redbacks in the dunnys, Crocodiles, Nasty big reds, deadly snakes, even huge lizards or some of our politicians!..That would have really stopped the tourist trade!
vinegar is at all seasides how do you eat fish and chips without it!!? Billy seriously ;) We are actually generally laid back and easy going as we have so many dangerous things that it is easier to ignore them all and go yep its dangerous but whatever... than to be constantly in a state of panic :D
I still remember as a 3 year old in Brisbane my mum coming out the back door and loosing her shit because I was poking a funnel web spider with a stick. I was laughing my arse off because I thought it was funny it was biting the stick
Well you get stinging trees in Australia that are so bloody painful of you brush up against the thing you could die or spend months in excruciating pain.
You're a Canadian ? Living in the Rocky Mts. ? Don't you have , like , Grizzly Bears and Mountain Lions there ? At least the things in Australia that can kill you , we can run away from , and they don't jump out from bushes and tear you limb from limb. I'd rather put up with killers that I can avoid .
I'm an Aussie, but I would be scared of any Canadian forest that had grizzly bears in it. Thing is, you can kill a spider with a shoe or a sandal. Not game to try that on a bear.
But do you get the chance to kill it with a shoe or a sandal? If you've sat on a toilet seat and it's bitten you on the arse it's too late. Just hope you've written your will.
this reaction was awesome, I don't know if you do sports reactions but check out Australia's best kept secret, Aussie Rules ua-cam.com/video/uPIQ7vLJYIA/v-deo.html

Billy is just a bloody genius. Bloody love him, like most Aussies. Thanks mate for reminding me of this sketch.

Hahaha!!😄😄😄😆😆😆🤣🤣🎗🤣👍👍❤❤
yet making noise in long grass keeps snakes away, unless between mum and her nest.
I just listen for that prick with the Chellos. Then you know there's are shark on your arse 🦈
I've seen this before, I'm Australian, so it's very funny to me. Love your reaction, you're awesome.

As an Aussie were used to seeing signs and warnings ,but I can see how it would be a bit unsettling for tourists
Never thought of that - beware!!! Stingers!!!! Ah just another Tuesday. ..but to tourists... It takes on another meaning esp with the heat stopping thing.

Ross Noble does. But they do both have a rough idea of what they are going to do, just how they get there varies.

What is it you have to pee on if you get stung?
@@davidhoward2487 cat fish barbs, you can pee on it or cut its eye up and use that, it changes the alkalinity of the sting
Peeing on it is a myth

He is right about the blue ringed octopus. There is no anti-venom either. If you get stung you have about 15 min left.
