The purple outline indicates the smaller rocks can just be extracted without breaking. The yellow outline indicates they need to be cracked, for primary and secondary breaks. o7
As someone who hasn't played several patches, I was wondering how he was supposed to know which ones don't need to be mined, last I played all rocks like that had to be cracked before they could be scooped up.
Really nice video, it shows some ups and downs, shows what happens when overloading and gives some different points to play. Well done and informative.
After becoming a star citizen not long ago your videos have been a god send with your guides, ship reviews and with such a calm and relaxing atmosphere around them, thank you so much for your amazing work and videos 😊🙏
Love your candor sir! You calmly working through these ridiculous bugs and challenges is a great example for us all. I need to try and emulate you rather than yelling at the screen and throwing shite... lol
I really enjoy Prospector mining too. The elements I look for are Quantainium, Taranite, Bexelite and Gold in that order. In the past I would extract rocks with 30% or higher of the desired content, but nowadays I like to only take the 50% or higher of the good stuff. Except with Quantainium where it's rare to get fragments with high percentage of it. Usually I get three finished refinery jobs into my standard Freelancer and then I take it to the trade kiosk to sell it. Always feels like "PAYDAY!" when I have safely landed at the spaceport with my precious cargo, and loaded it all up to the cargo elevator. 🙂 Oh, and I too have the Icebreaker livery applied to both my Prospector, my Vulture and my Freelancer. 😀
Another great video, and I love the paint job(I use the green and red). I’ve had some problems with server latency and the charge bar. Just did a video where I blew my bags off cracking some Quant lol.
So many times I went straight to fracture mode and blew up my first rock. Realized my mistake and then the next day when I go out I do it all over again. 🙂
so with the new cargo elevators and all you can collect a lot of orders, pick them up move to the storage in your personal hanger and then cell it. that somewhat better as it allow you to collect a lot of refined recorces and sell it in one big go. add to that with a few trips with volture and that can be mice one big sale
One tip for you, you can unload / start refinery jobs by landing on a pad instead of in a hanger. Saves a little time, and if there are ATC glitches it bypasses that as well.
Currently swapping between mining and salvage at Wide Forest station. A lot quicker than planetary mining. Both my Vulture and Prospector have the ice break liveries. As does the Freelancer Max I load up with refined ores.
When it comes to mining, keep an eye on your modes on the top. If it is green, you are in the right mode, if it is orange, then you need to be in the other one.
I always base out of MIC-L2 for mining because it's quieter and has good bonuses. I prefer Clio but use calliope when I want something different. The problem with calliope is the cloud/fog layer affecting. Prospector is my favorite ship. Always swap the bags for mole bags. You'll get 16 scu more space
I just recently upgraded my pledge from the prospector to the vulture i still got a prospector in game as well now cuz it's such a good loop if u do it right and with some luck u can pull 250k per hour solo
2 Prospector runs don't actually fill up 64SCU with refined goods. I find swapping just 2 bags with MOLE bags usually yields almost enough refined goods to fill 64SCU and not overflow.
LOL, at the beginning of the video, I was starting to think, maybe going in and doing some mining would be a good way to start my weekend after a hard and stressful week at work. By the end of the video I realized no, that is absolutely a bad idea, LOL.
Took forever to break a rock near a cave.. then somebodies bounty mission showed up and I couldn't get rid of them so had to leave it. Manually flying down like you do might be a good idea.
shoot the doors to see if they are realy closed. before loading the Hull A spawn it and extend spindle. it prevents the spindle bug. and yes your hull A cargo grid wasnt fully opened
I figured out the bugged doors yesterday while playing. The comms were stuck open for me. You can't go in and request again, as the comms are still active from the previous request. Hold F and change one of your cockpit screens to comms. You can then close the active one from that screen and retry from the same screen. Worked the 2 times it happened to me. Hopefully it's the same and helps everyone else too.
I've been having those issues whether mining, hauling or just trying to get to bunker missions. A bit annoying, but I bet the next patch or two will clean mosf it up.
Really enjoy mining but don't really like either of the ships presently available, so here's hoping for additional mining vessels from makers other than MISC / ARGO that are smaller than the Arrastra.
Star Citizen gameplay is all about making mistakes (and learing from them). Edit: so when you're nearing the overcharge, not only can you reduce laser intensity, you can also increase distance. Want to prevent getting into the red at all times for more clean breaks. With the hangar doors, sometimes it helps to quantum away and quantum back. Bedlogging I'd do to switch servers. As the doors not doing anything is indicative of bad server.
I've experienced all these issues in 3.24.1 sadly it's gone one step further for me. I'm now stuck on New Babbage with no way to retrieve a ship or even get to my hanger, doomed until a patch a new as I've found no work around.
The only thing I don't like about prospector is the bag size. I know you can swap them with mole bags but I wish we could do that in customization. I lost a bunch of bags in the freight elevator
Yeah, there are known issues with ore bags attaching to the grid properly on the elevator so it's best to just keep them on the ship and head directly to the refinery.
Please change your loadout.... its making me cringe... Try at least a Hofstede with a Rieger C3... Also- I like the Mole better: The moving between turrets makes it feel like a more interactive gameplay to me.. And your top 3 should be: Taranite, BEXALITE, Borase.... Bex is more valuable than all the other T1's, and its smaller density means you get more SCU per mass- which is key in breaks... Also Borase is more worth it than Gold- as its lighter mass means you can fill up faster, which you mentioned is your goal Hangar doors- when they dont open, just clear the station again until your marker disappears then request again- as you did... its a PITA Man! This is getting preachy!.. sorry about that- thanks for the vid!
just think if you would have to remove the bags at the refinery and send that down the cargo elevator first and then also getting new bags loaded. making even more work and time consuming . not knowing which mining head I need also puts me off mining anymore over complicated it so people like red can make spread sheets all day. I hope they dont make salvage complicated. also when the arrastra comes not having Bag's may help and if solo that may be better than the mole if you have one laser a lower spec for the small rocks we will have to see. and that fact you will be able to refine onboard ship will help I hope not sure if it will still take 24 hrs though
I have played off and on for 10+ years now... I will log on every couple of years to see what has changed and find I no longer meet the system requirements for a smooth experience anymore. Last time this happened was in 2022 where I was getting 25fps at best. I'm feeling the urge again... New PC should be here in a few days 😅Star Citizen lets me know when I'm due for an upgrade
@Farrister I'm working out the direction still. But I want to highlight the potential, the ships, the awesome aspects- but on the flip side, the never ending development cycle, feature creep, ect. It would be a much better video if I had knowledgeable community members like yourself involved to speak on it.
It depends on your attitude to bugs/issues, and feature completion. If you want to play a polished, finished game, better to wait. If you are happy with something that isn't perfect, what we have now can be pretty epic
@@Farrister Thanks. So about 1 hours for 200k, excluding the refinery job. Interesting. That pay quite a bit more than the hauling mission. Senior hauling, 100k a mission, 1 hour per mission. (with C2+ATLS)
without upgrading the prospectors ore bags, I usually find mining useless, in this patch(3.24.1) I couldnt do it. Plus the removed ore bags did not get back in. Tried every thing(king), So I have a prospector without ore bags. Mining is no go for me until next wipe.

Many Content Creators never mention the topic, its just skirted around, possibly they don't want to damage sales, yet the Polaris will be the 1st of the new breed of sub-capital ship, leave out the old guard ''Hammerhead and Reclaimer'', they are not in the same league. and CC's can leave out the nonsense remark that there isn't enough info out there, they seem to regurgitate the same reviews multiple times. These are like the Bob Ross of mining videos! They're great!
The purple outline indicates the smaller rocks can just be extracted without breaking. The yellow outline indicates they need to be cracked, for primary and secondary breaks. o7
Yup, I should have realised, it just had me confused on the first pass!
At the top of the "mining parenthesises" you can also see which laser mode, fracture or extraction, the ship recommends you use.

You can land on the outside pads and send the ores to the refinery that way.
Good idea!
I think that rock that wasn't displaying the optimal charge window was already small enough to be sucked up

Farrister, mining question: are nose mounted extracting beams, like on the Orion and the Reclaimer still practical?
Well the Prospector is nose mounted and works fine. Orion isn't in game, and Reclaimer is a salvage ship.
Side not on your elevator issue... since you were at NB... you could have called your ship back flown over to the commons and went that way...
