Wow! I was not expecting this but I am glad that you disscussed this, not just my video but this topic itself. The whole purpose of my video was to get people to atleast try Mudrunner. I agree with everything you said TC also I want to let you know that I've been following you since spintires days and I respect you for what you did and keep doing for this community.

rather than make a mud-runner 2 they need to make a runner 3, an overhaul of snow-runner while also adding new features that the community wants.

It is not possible to transfer the physics from Mud to Snowrunner. Snowrunner is a complete different engine while Spin/Mud is an self written engine (VEE) from Pavel with an hard modified Havok Physics SDK. Snowrunners Swarm Engine is an multi purpose Engine for different kind of games. Looks better but can not handle the physics

But snow runner sucks compared. Bigger maps and better graphics don't make up for the loss in realistic physics.

I always speculated Saber made the physics more arcadey so to say to appeal to more of the casual gamer and attract a bigger audience. Where maybe they felt the more so offroad simulation of MudRunner appealed to a more limited crowd.

Nah. The marketing was all about the realism of the terrain deformation and action. It’s the main reason to pick Runner series over ATS/ETS really. Realistic physics sells in this genre, even if we rarely have any real way of confirming/falsifying that assertion. Look at the massive popularity of BeamNG , much of it because off-roaming activities. But BeamNG in comparison to Snowrunner lacks deforming terrain, the sort of “story”/missions SR has, and SR just plain looks more beautiful. But I digress. Realism sells in ‘Runner’s niche. What I’m saying is, the perception of realism sells, to the point I swear some sims make it HARDER than reality just to please their fanbase.

From my experience: In MudRunner, vehicles felt like really heavy and realistic. When you drove the 7310, you felt that it was a super heavy piece of metal. In SnowRunner, all vehicles feel the same. I don't know how to better describe this, sorry. I think that's something that has to do with the physics. Another thing is SnowRunner feels too arcade-ish. Every vehicle shares the same add ons, and they feel way too off on some vehicles. In MudRunner every vehicle's add-ons, were special. You knew you had to choose that vehicle, because it had that add-on, and that add-on, looked like it was actually made for that specific vehicle and only, if you know what i mean. SnowRunner's graphics are of course a million times better than those of MuRunner's. In MudRunner, the colors looked too washed out for some reason. AND last but not least, if we ever see a sequel, i hope it's in Unreal Engine 5.

We needs snow&mud runner, game which combines most of the physics (not you branches, flipping over 1,5 tons heavy scouts) and attention to details from mudrunner with complexity of deliveries from snowrunner WITH some extra customization eg permanently removing trees or rocks or paving roads to improve local paths.

I don't think Mudrunner 2 would be such a good idea. Look at how the Need For Speed community constantly asks for a remaster of Underground 2 or Most Wanted '05, if they got what they wanted, they would still complain about how it's not as good as the original. And I think the exact same thing can be said for Mudrunner. If Sabre Interactive ever did make such a game, the pure grip on the nostalgia of the original would kill it before any decent update could build on the formula. What i do think would be a good idea is a new entry with a new focus. Maybe the next game could step into American Truck Simulator territory and go for a more highway hauler type attitude, maybe something you said about there being a Sand Runner being a good addition? Either way, only bad comments and pure nostalgia gripping hate would come to Sabre Interactive if they ever made Mudrunner 2. Its just like you said in your previous video on the VS ATV series.

It is pretty much why I still haven't got into Snowrunner since it was released. I'm certainly not a blindless fanboy of Spintires/Mudrunner, but they got the physics right. Bring that into Snowrunner (I like what they have done with the game tho) and they would won me over for sure. I just wish it could be as simple as changing a simple parameter: physics=0.1 to physics=1.0. Thing is, Snowrunner feels like earth gravity is at 50%...

I never thought that I'd hear MudRunner 2. Man, MudRunner is a fun off-roaders game in general. However, my dad had a different opinion. He hated the camera angles so much that he threw the game out. MudRunner was so fun to play, even with the weird camera angles. I never got to play SpinTires. Honestly, I think the creators of these games should put SpinTires, MudRunner, and SnowRunner into a bundle and then sell it so that everyone can experience all the games without needing to make three different purchases. And, I also think that MudRunner should make a comeback.

I see this in all these vids, particularly about the wires on trailers, or articulating saddles, etc. But I can see one big reason for the physics changing so much between games as an effort to optimize the game to run smoother on more machines. Physics are very processing heavy in games, so removing little things that are physics enabled, like wires or making saddles static, across the board can make large changes in optimization. This would also include suspension and the like. Snowrunner is more like a game, mudrunner is geared more like a sim.

I think that the modification system in sr is good but not the tires :
    1. they should have unique aspects that changes the way you drive the truck (maybe thinner ones or sphere shape ones... with pros and cons) would add variety in gameplay style as well as replayability and would take away any meta
    2. no need for highway tires (maybe all terrain which should be very cheap and made to drive mainly on good conditions roads for refuelling your trucks and garages or light cargo missions. off road and mud tires should be for heavy cargo transport)
    3. we need unique tire sets for each truck to add variety in the game (it can have similarity with same brand trucks) : all terrain / off road / mud (3 to 4 sets, doens't need to have 10s of 1000s)
    4. we also need to have the possibility to change the tire pressure of our tires (while beeing outside of the garage like spintires and expedition)
    5. Finally I think that small scout vehicules are weak even with very good tires because of the lack of mud mechanics with weight and tire pressure adjustments. it should really take inspiration from mudrunner and spintires where small scouts (even with non adapted tires) can still perform in mud because they are light and don't sink deeply in the mud

Vehicles in Mudrunner felt like they had WEIGHT and mass. And the terrain under your tyres had support for that weight and mass until you did something stupid. And the terrain you drove on actually mattered, and the shape of the ground under you actually mattered. Terrain deformation actually matters, and driving on parts that have less deformation actually means you get better clearance and grip.
In contrast, in Snowrunner the vehicles feel light and stiff, and the terrain feels like youre driving on paper. And once that paper rips and you sink into the terrain, be it gravel, sand, mud, swamp, snow or whatever, once you lose grip on the "too easy" layer youre bottomed out and crawling in the "too hard" layer, and if you have anything but offroad, mud, or chain tyres youre just stuck.
It doesnt matter where you put your wheels, the shape of the terrain doesnt provide you with any feedback, and youre always on "thin ice" whenever you have grip. All the terrain deformation is cosmetic and doesnt actually affect the driving. In snowrunner driving just sucks. Having to drive is a chore, not an adventure like it was in Mudrunner.
Ive still logged more hours into Snowrunner, because im still searching for the point in the game where it becomes fun.
Where is my fun? Probably in the next Mudrunner game that Snowrunner thankfully has now made possible.
Having a lowball cashgrab appeal to the masses game has made it possible to produce the next GREAT Spintires game. Now Sabre just has to sit down and make Mudrunner 2

Likely hood of expeditions being better physics is very low.... My theory why snowrunner has a downgrade is because of the layer of customization. The more features and gadgets in the game the less likely you are to see a very intimate physics model. GTA 4 vs GTA 5, Bf1 vs bf 2042 the list goes on the reality is, most people want graphics and progression, something like your tires being perfectly flush with the terrain is something that the true fans notice but usually isn't the selling point to a bigger audience. They want a fun game that looks good more often then not.

Mud Runner is the Beam NG of the 4x4 world, But then Beam NG got a really good 4x4 on physics section, And then Mud Runner is bad ass, And I am a Sim Racer at heart..
Can you jump into Mud Runner using the Quest 2, Mud Runner would be a huge amounts of better in VR, If you can do Dirt Rally in VR, And DR2 is damn amazing using the Quest 2, I really do want the Quest 3 now, So if anyone is thinking of getting a Quest, Just get the Quest 3 if you can, Meta have opened a whole new world with the Quest, The stand alone VR can only get better and better now, I would find it hard now to back to Sim Racing on the screen, I got Dirt Rally 2 looking fantastic last night, And got a 1ms on the steam VR, I had 3ms the other night, But VR would make this the perfect open world 4X4 that can be used as other DLC's as they do, lol.....
Yeah VR would make Mud Runner bad ass...
It was only a few quid the other day, I only payed 4 pounds for Mud Runner, And yes the Psysics is bad ass in Mud Runner, Like I said, Mud Runner is like Beam NG....
So can you do Mud Runner in VR?

Frames in real life dont bend with such little load as they do in mudrunner, so its still not great regardless. Idk if you're testing with heavy addons installed, but within the last 3 days I ended up unintentially parking the Ford CLT9000 diagonally in a ditch, and I could very clearly notice the center of the cab didn't line up with the center of the boom on the large crane addon. There is frame flex, it just requires a reason in the form of a heavy load to actually start twisting (of which SD1ONE never tested). Lastly as an example, if you take the superheavy semi trailer and add 4 metal beams or concrete slabs, it will noticably twist and turn with terrain.
Suspension in MR can be a bit much sometimes. Not every truck is a military grade offroader, so sometimes its not exactly designed to travel the very edge of a mountain or hill with a lot of rocks. Yes I can say from experience the suspension in SR can be a bit stiff. Hauler trucks are not meant to have soft suspensions, and with many older trucks, they were more stiff than nowadays, always using leaf springs and many without shocks. Trucks like the chevrolet Kodiak C70 used these outdated suspensions. So, all in all they made SR trucks more real in terms of exact performence, rather than arcadey with enormous, unnatural levels of frame flex and suspension travel

No, we don't need Mudrunner 2. We need polished Snowrunner + more maps, more trucks, more addons, more features and bigger mission variety. This is a trucking game for a god sake, not a RPG! Look at SCS Software and ETS2. ETS2 is more than 10 years old and differences between first version and current one are absolutely gigantic. I hope Saber do the same with Snowrunner. And yes, I am not a fan of making redundant sequels because community thinks that couple of things needed to be changed means making new game, while the same effect you can get by patching and expanding existing product
You are talking about better and more realistic physics, right? So... it can be added as a feature like New Game Plus, when players can change between "simplified" and "realistic" drive model. And that's all. No new game, same big content, huge amount of money and work hours saved. Now you can beat again the same maps with different experiences, like MR. Is this satisfy you? It should...

I ownboth snowrunner and mudrunner. i have 8000 hours in mudrunner. i could not get past 200 hours in snowrunner. it doesnt pull me at all.

I don't enjoy anymore the physics in snowrunner because it's too arcady as you said, especially when you compare it with mudrunner gameplay and it pisses me off

Snowrunner is better than Mudrunner. Maps are too small in Mudrunner, graphics not so good, less trucks, less cargo, less missions, less everything. Mudrunner was a good warm up to Snowrunner

I would say Snowrunner is better in that way, but Mudrunner has better physics (which I consider to be the most important in any driving game), better sounds and better addons (more specialised)

@@clutch44444 To me the physics differences aren't great enough to make it more enjoyable. Just my opinion.
