The single best tip to offer: Go into settings and turn off repeating notifications. That way you're not told hundreds of times that you can winch, turn on AWD, or recover a vehicle when you're trying to get through a section.

OMG Thanks!!!! Been playing for a bit now and the notifications annoy me. It keeps telling me to turn on AWD when I have it on 😂😂. Thanks for this tip as I never knew I could turn them off!!
Sarstan totally agree I turned it off because I was getting really annoyed by the constant notifications when I turned it off it made my game experience much better!

Tip: When looking at the map trailers will show up in 2 different colors, red is a tow behind trailer and blue is a semi trailer that needs a low saddle.

Ghost it will tell you if you need one or not in the mission
Dont forget grey scout trailers :).
My tip: When you’re done with a region, collect all of the trailers you don’t want, take them to the nearest trailer store and sell them for some extra cash!
To save time, winch a second trailer behind the attached one.

I found the steering twitchy and prone to overcorrection. Goin into settings and changing to steering wheel mode helped a lot. It causes the wheels to re center automatically lessening the tendency to over correct

I had stopped playing for a long time and just started in again. It didn’t used to be an option, but it is now and that is really good to know... especially when my mud tires suck on pavement.

Another point. If you have the small crane and you’re stuck in the mud with no nearby winch points, you can stick the crane into the ground and extend it to use it as a paddle to push yourself closer to a winch point. Did that once lol.
Definitely a good trick! Also you can sometimes turn the wheels and rock your truck until it's just gone past being 90 degrees, then you can start the engine and winch to safety.

Plant small fuel trailers around the map in case you start to run low , send your scouts out to open up the maps . Don’t drive to fast or you will tip . Always pick the winch which works without the engine running , if in doubt about mud go around it,
Great tip. I'd also add this tip.. Get the Tuz 420 vehicle from Russia and then customise it with the autonomous winch, then get a truck with a crane such as the Tayga or Azov and add trailer to suit the cargo you're delivering. Use the Tuz 420 to winch the truck to your destination.

@@jamesbissonette The Tuz is a great vehicle for the mud and ice roads. It can drive on any kind of terrain and will never get stuck.

L1/LB + X/A turns the engine on and off without going into the functions menu, useful to save on fuel when you go into the map to plot a route
Yesterday I found out you can find eyes watching you in the forest in Russia and Michigan. Also I seen a wolf appear then dissapear.
I saw that too
The eyes in Russia are green near the abandoned gulag where you get the radioactive container. Kind of makes you wonder about the odd folks with the abandoned campsite on Rift and why it looks like there is the edge of a crater near the top of the map on Quarry. I'm sure that's a coincidence and nothing to worry about.

Another great tip: upgrades can be sold again as well. And everything (trucks, trailers and upgrades) can be sold at 100% the cost so don’t hesitate to just sell a truck, you can always buy it again later.
So does that mean that if I give for a mission what was on a trailer (steel beam for example) I can just sell that said trailer that I've found??? Cuz I have two empty ones just laying there...
But does that also mean that if I want a trailer later, I'll have to buy it AGAIN?

I did the same thing when I got stuck the first time. I also didn't know there was a winch.
Those "free" trailers often have cargo, which may be closer to an objective than the regular place where you get it. You can either haul the trailer, or if your truck has a crane you can pick cargo off the trailer (you have to connect to the trailer and unpack it first). If a "free" trailer has fuel in it, you can use it as a resource by hauling it somewhere useful rather than always having to go back to the garage or a fuel stop to refuel.
Here's another tip: Manually choosing winch attach points can be time consuming and the quick winch function in external view can be a bit flakey on where it attaches. If you go to the interior view and use quick winch it will attach to whatever is closest to the center of the screen. The will usually let you pick a specific tree faster and changing views is faster than opening the function menu and manually selecting both attach points.
That works nicely, cheers for that. I often use the first-person view when in trees as the camera gets confused and usually you only need to winch ahead of you to make progress.
I just started playing today and I figured out a trick for towing trailers. If you're stuck, detach the trailer, gain some momentum, and then quick winch to the front to yank it. Rinse and repeat. (Might only work on select trailers. I've only tested it on the first type of trailers so far)
OMG i cant stop playing this game its soooo good. A good tip i have found that isnt mentioned a lot (may be ovb to some) is turning your wheels in deep mud going from left to right full lock. I spent 5 min doing this (felt like an hour) when i was bogged down in deep mud and water by a river with nothing to latch on to with the winch, dont give up even if it looks like its not moving eventually you will find traction or a small rock for the tire to hit, its usualy the back wheels that get stuck but turning the front wheels flatens the mud and you sometimes find a harder bit for your truck to grip onto. Done this a few times and the satisfaction when you manage it is why the game is so good instead of just recovering work at it. Also release your trailer if your stuck and get the vehicle out first, then winch the trailer as the truck is much lighter to get out than with it attached and you can winch from a better spot and re attach when your out of trouble.
To change gears with the auto function simply press L1 quickly while accelerating to up a gear and when you feel the vehicle bog down press it again and it will downshift without stopping, saving you much needed momentum

It's hard to stop playing, even though I just tipped over again in Russia. For the 27th time.
@@ATribeCalledCars that's funny. The first time I went to the Russian map. I turned over 3 vehicles within the the first hour. This was before I knew about the recover option. I only had 3 vehicles at the time. Once I recovered them I went back to Michigan. Russia was rough.

One very important tip regarding the carrying of cargo. Whatever cargo you're carrying, leave it unpacked. The weight of an unpacked cargo actually has way less of an impact on the truck's speed and mobility than packed cargo does. Just get the sideboard bed addon or trailer, and that'll prevent the cargo from falling off the truck (unless you tip over of course).
So basically cheat gotcha

(It's particularly ridiculous with logs, a full truck of dozens of logs turns into *three* logs when unpacked!)

Imagine having to load every single log that is on a pack instead of loading only three.
Here’s a little tip for everyone. Buy a fuel tanker. Either the small or the large, depending on how often you find yourself in an area that has no fuel station….and tote it to an area near there and just leave it. You will always be close to fuel and when it’s empty, you can either take it back and sell it or refill it at a station and drag it back. Really helps if you have a big truck that has a small fuel tank or that drinks it’s fuel instead of sipping it. 🤜🏻🤛🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Having trouble With vehicle rescues or recovery’s? Always wedge your vehicle against a tree to strengthen any tough winch rescue jobs. Works every time 👍

Amazing tip For making tight turns. Put it in low with the handbrake on and floor it! Works best on the bigger trucks!!
My Tip: Anything you buy you can sell back for the same price from trucks to tires to parts

A Tribe Called Cars i think they sell for 3/4 of the stock price like a tatarin will sell for 110k when it buys for 146k
another tip: looking at the map automatically saves your game (only works if the game hasn’t save just yet).. might be useful if you’re not sure that your truck or trailer are gonna roll over.. why, you asked? coz when they did roll over, just press ALT+F4 *immediately* to quit the game (before it saves your ‘progress’) and then continue to play again just before the _accident_ happen 🤣🤣
Wish I could do that, I’ve taken the same route multiple times just to flip over. I quit playing the rest of the night.

My tips: #1. I periodically haul out maintenance trailers when I can and drop them off at random points all around the map (usually at intersections) so I don’t necessarily have to find a gas station or service station.
#2. I leave at least two vehicles (only one if scout, *autonomous winch) in every map with no garage. That way if I flip or get stuck/run out of fuel I have another vehicle relatively close by to help.
Get the Tuz 420 scout from Russia and add autonomous winch. Place Tuz in every map. I've never had a Tuz gets stuck in mud or snow so far. It's so good, I use it to pull trucks and trailers with supplies. It's only weak points are 1. It's slow. 2. It had a wide turning circle.
Tip. The ramped trailers can carry trucks, you can use these to bring a truck that’s Affective but with hi fuel consumption to another area that doesn’t have a garage just slap on a trailer on your semi of choice and bring it, just be a tad careful. Heavy amd you can’t pack it down
I know this is late but now they added that you can pack vehicles down in trailers now. Tried it with the ramped trailer
Here's a better 25: if your truck can have any extra lights, add them. Night time visibility, especially on Taymyr where the day/night cycle is wonky, is a huge plus
Absolutely. And another tip, different lights have different brightness. Useful if you are finding some lights too bright on snow!
So I actually skipped a lot of Michigan. I never completed the tutorial due to thinking I was soft-locked in the garage because I didn’t understand the retain and world map stuff. I have one of the best trucks in the game and about 100k to work with, and I didn’t know most of these. This would’ve been nice to know about when I was starting out. Even as a “veteran” who got the game a month ago, these help a lot.
Also, sometimes missions direct you to pickup cargo from a more distant location (if you select the cargo item from mission menu), but infact there's closer location to pickup the same cargo.
That's true (and somewhat annoying).
The winch can be a great tool for twirling longer vehicles (looking at you, twinsteer!) round tight corners. Attach the winch from the rear of the truck to a tree behind you and on the outside of the corner, take up the slack, then as you drive through the corner the rope pulls the rear end round. Hard to describe, but give it a go! It's also good for holding a truck up as it threatens to tip driving along a traverse.

Tip: the added light bars on the roof of trucks can be great assets for night driving in Michigan, and other non- snow environments, but can actually be counter productive when in Alaska, creating too much glare and reduce visibility. Consider removing them in snowy regions and looking for front bumper options with extra lights if extra illumination is desired.
Really enjoying the game. I played spintires when it was still a tech demo, got mudrunner when it came out, and this just adds onto everything both games did and makes the world feel more alive
I didn't play the games before much but SnowRunner definitely feels more accessible. Probably why it's much more mainstream this time around!
Tip: unloading material in a square on ps4. Gotta park just right and tap down on the d-pad. Spent two days trying to fix a bridge.
This is a really good game, and it's exactly what I imagined for a sequel while playing Mudrunner. I am about 30% done this game and have found most of these tricks you mention, just by playing. I think one of the most interesting parts of the game is that there is very little info on how to play the game. It's up to you to think critically, to solve solutions to problems. There is a bit of a learning curve to understanding the menus, and garages, but that's all part of it. I think of it as one big puzzle, and I need to figure out what to do. Sometimes I will be thinking about the game even when not playing it and I come up with a solution on how to complete something. Some people might night like the slower pace of the game, but I think of it as more of a puzzle game then an action game. If I want a fast paced, open world game I'll switch to GTA usually. One tip I would like to add is to customize the trucks with distinct visual identities so that it's easier to remember what truck is good for what. All my best trucks I color GREEN, second best trucks are ORANGE and shitty trucks RED. Keeping track of 8 or 10 trucks gets to be too much for me anyway, but if I quickly look at my storage I can see what my favorite trucks are by color. The only exception is the hummer, which has to be YELLOW, because what other color hummer would you drive?

Best scout IMO is the Tuz 420 Tatarin. Best truck IMO is the Tayga 6436.
Tip: once you get a watchtower look for upgrades. Upgrade can be usefull for the truck you have and other truck that you might have in the future of your game

At the beginning money is king. If you find yourself in need of that cold hard cash. Buy the most expensive vehicle you can, do as many free upgrades as possible, then sell it, then buy it again, and repeat. You won't get a lot from it necessarily but if you need the cash now it's one way to get you that sweet green stuff.

For me the most hilarious thing to do is to traverse a road meant for a small scout vehicle with an 10x10 wheeler carrying an 8 slot high saddle trailer.
Stupid? Yes, hilarious, YES!
i liked it more when the game asked me to take a logging truck hill climbing in yukon. that contract is extremely hard, even for a experienced player like me.
Played the game alot, I overlooked the loadstar... Its kinda an ugly old truck... But its a scout, u can add a truck bed. It holds ton of fuel and repair parts, and u find the better motor, raised suspension and put highway diff its probably the fastest scout. Definitely worth checking out.

I use fuel tanker trailer as temporary fuel stations and position them in strategic places far from the nearest gasoline station, specially at areas like islands without garages.

All of the maps is detailed, so if your route goes on difficult tracks avoid by going point to point across the map.
Avoid trailers that limit your vehicles turn radius, be selective.
Use the winch to help you across side slopes, attach to truck center points and tree to 'swing' across the slope without tipping. (used by mountaineers to cross sheer faces without hand holds). If your vehicle tends to steer very slowly (or not at all), power off to let the front wheels grip. Remember you can not steer if the wheels that steer are in the air.
Change settings to "Steering Wheel" if you use a controller. This centers the wheels upon release of the joystick and helps the steering tremendously.
Got into mudrunner years ago like snowrunner liking your videos they have been a big help on some tasks and contracts ...saw the section about codes what do the codes open up trucks or add-on would like to here back again like the helpful videos keep up the good work

The game has been a complete treat so far! I loved Mudrunner and this has been a massive improvement. My one complaint which I feel is quite a large issue is the cooperative progression system. Only the host progresses in the campaign, and the free trucks spread across the map are only made available for the host. I want to play through this with friends, but to progress equally we have to do it all twice.
This is one of the worst things definitely, I can sort of get why it's a thing but it discourages friends from playing it.
If you're on PC, the host can share the savegame with the other players. That way everyone can have the same progression.
Heck yeah, I didn't realize this until we almost completed the 1st part of Michigan on my buddies and the next day I had no progression...didn't even realize it says in when loading into co-op until after
I missed the cruise-control in Mudrunner.. it could ease-up the pain of holding up the damn throttle for a long haul

The one thing I find that is a pain with Snowrunner... is the access to tyres. Snowrunner has very unforgiving terrain and to use the Mud tyres as an example, you have to be level 8 or something. So using Highway tyres in mud is not adequate. But oddly, they do work well with AWD initiated. Settling for all terrain tyres is the next best thing before you can get mud tyres for the White Western star or the Fleet Star.
You're right, I remember the grind to mud tyres on the Tayga. It's partly why I did my how to make fast XP video as I know many people simply wanted mud tyres to enjoy the game more.
I found myself using a flatbed and cherrypicker on a semi with a towable 4 place trailer to tow another semi set up the same way attached to another 4 place trailer.... so you can take two trucks and trailers at one time hauling 12 spots of equipment or materials 😁😁

It's good, but also incredibly frustrating sometimes! I keep coming back though.
A good way to save time is to stash vehicles on maps with no garage. Just drove the ass end of nowhere from your garage? Stash the truck next to a warehouse or port on the map. When you have another mission to do on that map, you can use that truck rather than driving there all over again.
Wheels work really well here nice ffb nd everything. Had one problem when I spawned a car the wheel kept jerking to the left and right really fast. Unplugged the USB for 5 seconds put it back in it calibrated and was fine! The only thing I can say is sometimes it feels like you may need less rotation or maybe there's a deadline in the center about 5-15° but once you get used to it it's not bad. That and the lack of options on xbox seem fairly decent for recent implement.

I missed the tutorial pop up that told you how to turn on your headlights. I felt like such a fool when I found it after playing for a few days.
I just headed to Russia after repairing one bridge so missed out on most of the tutorials. Not recommended.

Great tips thanks for the video, I will add that I connected my Ferrari 458 thrustmaster steering wheel for Xbox one to play the game and had absolutely no issues.

Best tip change the steering option to steering wheel. Itll drive like a normal game and auto straighten out
Absolutely! I love the auto-centre wheels for controller.
If a long trailer bottoms out you can also use the crane to pick up the front end and swivel it around to a place that doesn't cause it to bottom out. I had to do that one time when going over a bump. I ended up redirecting towards a stream and just drove it through said stream lol

Some achievements in the game require you have certain trucks. Like for example you use the p12 in taymar for 10 cargos you get an achievement same for running the zakz 5068 a Russian truck in either Michigan or Alaska and running 10 cargos there. But it has to be those certain models.

@@billygames7107 yea, totally agree with that.. though I ended up cheating by modding the mud and the wheels so it's a bit easier and don't take a long time to play, so my hands aren't that painful anymore 😁😁
One thing I don't see streamers doing. If you have an attached trailer and get stuck, use the winch point on the trailer to pull yourself forward
Why is that better, than pullin the tip of your truck? Or you mean detach, go forward and than pull it?
@@Asdprefix if your cabin is ahead of the winch point and there is nothing ahead, then you can winch from the rear of the trailer and pull yourself forward

If you are on the map and move your navigating circle on to a truck or a building and press the right stick it will atomaticaly tell you what you need instead of scroling through all the categories on the side

I'm thinking variable chassis length and wheelbase depending on frame add-ons would clear up a lot of space wastage and trailer hitch issues and make for a more truly customisable truck....

tip: if your stuck is a region you do not like go to contracts and click on the first one it will axantentle show you how to get out of that region (this only works for the first 3 in mishagain)
Anyone else see the "wolf" on black river? It's north of the fuel station closest to the farm. You take that sharp corner and if you slow down the wolf is visible then despawns as you approach.
I've seen photos of it, but not the real thing. Wasn't sure if it was a joke! There should be more animals than birds in SnowRunner.

Oh yeah, that took me a while when I first started but it makes such a difference. Almost a completely different game once you know some of the basic mechanics.

You can take 2 trucks thru gateways. Each truck can have an attached trailer. Load em up before going to gateway. Winch both trucks together and both trucks with cargo and trailers will be in next map.
Good tip! Just remember to reattach the winch once through, or you have to come back later because you're an idiot like I am.

@@ATribeCalledCars have you noticed a glitch with hauling vehicles? I drive 1 on to trailer, switch to hauling truck, and loaded truck falls through trailer
i am basically a scout main in this game, i love to take my scout everywhere, get every watchtower, upgrade and vehicle wherever i can
except for when the tunnels to the next map are locked because missions... fun

Really addicted to this game but tbh done some really stupid things that cost me hours and hours of time. Like when I got to river lake, taken metal beams from smithville dam which taken a long time as the road I taken, taken ages and lost the cargo about 8 times. I finally got to the tunnel to river lake and taken them to the power lines where they were to go, I don't know how I managed it but I had freaking wooden planks. Also there was a place on river lake where I could have got the metal beams quite close by on river lake. Wasted loads of time on nothing 😄 🤣 then I came up with a plan which I felt quite good about at the time. To take a maintenance trailer to river lake so I can go there and fix any vehicles because of lack of a garage. I felt quite clever coming up with that. It also taken some time to get that trailer there. Well one of your tips I could buy a service trailer at a trailer store and use it then sell it back meaning it costs nothing. Damn! So many things though, if I knew then what I know now, it would have saved me hours 😄 but I suppose albeit slightly annoying it's all part of the game.
One thing I realised. I assumed you could only buy one of the same vehicle. I think its so great that I can have my two favourite trucks left sat on different maps at the one time and go between them. I just assumed you could only have one of each truck. Yes I know you can retain and take to different garages. But not all maps have garages and even so it is much easier.

I know it does work with the Thrustmaster TMX But does have major bugs with the accessory controls. Wish I had the Sim farm wheel. But it's a bit out of my range.

Did not know I could sell trailers. Also didn’t know that when selecting delete trailers, that when you went to the trailer store, you’d have to buy one you’ve already purchased. I presumed they worked like vehicle upgrades.
Yes unfortunately deleted trailers disappear so need purchasing again. Makes sense I think.

Great game I have like 200 xbox1x games and I can’t stop playing!!! Lol been Oilfild truck driver for 20 years so right at home they did a Amazing job with the trucks visuals!! I payed 90$ for the game and year pass well spent!!

Don't know if it works now,but in early versions if you exit the game straight from the pause menu,then after turning it on again it usually reverses your progress back a little. Handy if you rolled over in a remote location.
