Also, trading for glazed terracotta from stonemasons isn't very efficient, but they're probably the most colorful blocks you can get to prevent everything just looking brown, tan, or white. And don't worry, you deciding to divide your pyramid into rooms already makes you a better builder than 70% of players. What helps me with that is focusing on hallways and passageways instead of the rooms themselves, makes the build always feel more deliberate and not like a haphazard assortment of connected rooms.

Quick tip on moving villagers at night: They always autopath to the nearest bed if it's nighttime. Like, they'll wander miles outside their village to chase a bed that keeps getting broken and placed back down. Can be easier than trying to navigate a boat because you can place a bed, have them follow you on their own while you go clear mobs ahead, and then you just go break the bed and place it back down a little bit farther ahead. Something fun you could do to decorate the base a bit more and also make it accessible during the day is to use oak leaves and fences to make a canopy to cover the path you take from the pyramid to the villager breeder!
For building ideas, maybe you can try to have that small pyramid be the entrance to a corridor of sorts, with like columns and everything, which would then lead to individual rooms. This should work as the pyramid gets larger, as you can make the corridor longer/higher, and maybe start splitting it into floors from there to keep it neater. Decoration wise, something simple like some spread-out patterns made from different colored blocks, maybe a variation of cooler blocks with a hint of warmer ones here and there to help contrast the warm tone of sandstone. That may just be the artist in me talking, but I think there are some cool little concepts here you could branch out with if you want to, lol
