And all this time, I had thought Rick Huxley's bass guitar was made by Fender..

The Beatles "Thank You Girl" was clearly a big influence on the intro to this song.

Yeah the Film's called Get Yourself A Collage Girl, It also has The Animals and The Standells (although the standells aren't a focus unlike the DC5 or Animals)

again, they were voted the best LIVE BAND in London around 1963. Smith, their keyboardist, was a classically trained player. The DID play their own instruments but not on TV, probably because the one time they did on Ed Sullivan where the sound engineer made them sound like CRAP by not miking their instruments correctly. I heard it and it really sounded bad whereas I have friends who saw them live and said they were great.

Eventhough that the Dave Clark Five quintet would lip sync or dubb most of there songs, through out their studio recordings and that they never really played live, in front of the audience, they were nevertheless excellent musicians, especially Mike Smith who played on the keyboard, as well as for the other members of the group. The only thing is that Dave Clark, was probably more of a businessman, then a drummer himself. Thank you for this lovely presentation. Johnny, Montréal, Canada.

They played live when they were on tour. I saw them
here in concert in Minneapolis, and they weren’t lip syncing!

They played live in front of an audience!!!! OMG - they were voted the best live band in London around 1963. Don't forget the Stones were also playing in London in 1963.
Mike Smith was a child prodigy, put into a musical college when he was just a young boy.
Both Mike and Lenny were jazz musicians before joining the DC5.

Excellent musicians? Why then were studio musicians used? Why in most of the existing videos does it appear that Rick Huxley doesn't even know how to pretend playing a bass? Why aren't there any DC5 songs wherein Lenny "Lead Guitar" Davidson plays a solo? And most importantly of all, why did Davidson, Huxley and Payton leave the music business after Clark laid them off? Why didn't they join other bands or do session work?

Agree! I went to two concerts in 1964 and yes, heard them over all of us screaming girls! They came through loud and clear!
Just because a session bass player and drummer were used in the studio doesn’t mean they couldn’t play live. There was no Bobby Graham or Eric Ford on the Tottenham circuit with the DC5 when they were winning awards.
      Just them.

I said this before and really got some really bad feedback. Mike Smith was a better keyboardist than Paul McCartney. After watching this video I can't help thinking Lenny Davidson was a better guitarist than John or George.
No, I'm not talking about them better being songwriters. That's what that person kept bringing up. She said NOTHING about keyboard playing but kept bringing up song writing.

I’d have to agree with you on Mike Smiths keyboards but idk about John or George’s guitar playing bc I find their riffs really cool but Lenny is still really good

@@walrusmusic7875 He was a classically trained pianist and was probably the best keyboard player of the British Invasion.
