Born in 58 Rock and Roll and my sisters transistor radio was my first full memory. Tons of one hit wonders. Great. But the DC5 not the Beatles or the Stones were my favorite. Odd, because their music was more relationship based. They had a lot of fun stuff but they got deep too. And the SAX! That worked for that time. It was really moving. And I did see Catch us if You Can at the theater. But that was it. They really were great and of their time.
Living in West Germany during the hey day of the Dave Clark Five I loved them along with The Beatles, Beach Boys and Rolling Stones. I loved the introduction by Tom Hanks! Honest and funny! Great, great band which is surely very underated IMHO!
We all thought in the 60's it should have been the the Mike Smith 5.. I remember as a little kid it was The Beatles Vs the DC5 at times but as we all know the Beatles always developed and never looked back.
I get ribbed a lot for being "old" and my reply is always the same. You never saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Or the Dave Clark 5. Or the Stones, Doors, Elvis, DIana Ross, the Animals, and the list goes on. There was and never again will be a time like it.
Ah yes, that was the year I was wearing a Dr. Kildare shirt, white pants and a black sorts coat. I preferred the DC5 to The Beatles until they faded away.
Tom Hanks said the DC5 brought us joy. I say their music was HAPPY music and always made me feel happy. Maybe I'm an odd ball but I like the DC5 music better than the Beatles. Each member played their part, Mike smith with his vocals, and all the others, but the driving force I believe was Dave Clark with his unique style on the drums. No other drummer produced such a driving force for any band. Thank you DC5 for many years of "happy music".
In my humble opinion, this is THE best rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame induction ever. Tom Hanks is not only one of the best actors of our time, but this was hands-down his best performance ever. Do you want to know why? Because it all came from the heart. I did not grow up IN the 60s but I grew up ON the 60s. Did you notice that no F bombs were required to convey the passion for the music or comment on how great the band was? No sloppy, Kid Rock foul mouthed tribute during his Cheap Trick induction? No despising the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame by Steve Miller did.? Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of problems with the selection process of the inductees Into the “rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame” I just think it should be left for another time. Celebrate the greatness that we have been recognized by the hall.. and for crying out loud… Stop in inducting! Most of the greats have already been placed there.
Hall of Fame trophies should be FIVE, dead or alive, they are all integral part of the band & part of our music lives. Their families would be proud to have that commemorative trophy at home, for life.

In the 1960's be thankful to The Ed Sullivan Varity Show as this is where we The Americans were invaded by all the 1960's British Artists-The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermits, The Dave Clark 5, The Animals, The Hollies, The Bee Gees, Freddy & The Dreamers, The Who, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Zombies, Patula Clark, Dusty Springfield all acts on The later 1960 artists, Cream, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, The Moody Blues, Camel. This was the 2nd British Invasion, only this 1 was by music.
How lucky we were, we who were given the gifts of Ed Sullivan, Tom Hanks, The Dave Clark Five, and countless other blessings of the time. Was life perfect? Far from it but, damn, in that imperfection there was so much to be thankful for and even euphoria.

I've tears in my eyes
We all thought in the 60's it should have been the the Mike Smith 5.. I remember as a little kid it was The Beatles Vs the DC5 at times but as we all know the Beatles always developed and never looked back.
I Loved Them
I never knew they had been inducted
FABulousNESS
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Yep always loved them🔥🔥🔥🔥
I get ribbed a lot for being "old" and my reply is always the same.
They were truly the best
Glad all over a happy song! ❤
Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of problems with the selection process of the inductees Into the “rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame”
I just think it should be left for another time.
WLS Chicago on a transistor radio.
Would you believe I own more DC5 albums the The Beatles albums.
I do too!
Scary

❤DC5❤
You should have Dave Clark back there playing the drums for you
Love Dave
I used to think Mike Smith was Dave Clark haha
In the 1960's be thankful to The Ed Sullivan Varity Show as this is where we The Americans were
invaded by all the 1960's British Artists-The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermits,
The Dave Clark 5, The Animals, The Hollies, The Bee Gees, Freddy & The Dreamers, The Who,
Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Zombies, Patula Clark, Dusty Springfield all acts on The later
1960 artists, Cream, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, The Moody Blues, Camel.
This was the 2nd British Invasion, only this 1 was by music.
Wonderful! So happy for the boys to be inducted. Joan and the band did well but no one can match the DC5 sound, or the voice of Mike Smith!
How lucky we were, we who were given the gifts of Ed Sullivan, Tom Hanks, The Dave Clark Five, and countless other blessings of the time. Was life perfect? Far from it but, damn, in that imperfection there was so much to be thankful for and even euphoria.
My first concert!
Of course my two older sister's loved the Beatles while I enjoyed Dave Clark Five! Such classy guys...
I know the words better than them drilled in to my head since I was 9
