Iron Butterfly - Are You Happy (1968) Guitar, Organ, Bass, Drum Cover
This song is so fun to play on all the instruments!
Wanted to do an Iron Butterfly song since I got my mosrite. The guitar solo's fun to play, I had to relearn it though from an old cover I did.
Ignore how bad the drums are, they aren't my main instrument ya know

Iron Butterfly - Possession (1968) Organ Cover (RIP Doug Ingle)
Переглядів 1,3 тис.3 місяці тому
This goes out to the man who inspired me to play keyboards and write some of the greatest psych songs I've ever heard. Throughout Iron Butterfly's career their songs have always been carried by the complex and powering organ lines that Doug has come up with. This song is just an example of the genius that Doug was when it came to his keyboard playing. RIP Doug Ingle

Great Vox song this one! Gives beach vibes from this song. Vibrato sounds a bit off bc I've been fiddling with the controls but I can't get a good vibrato sound yet lol

First video with my new UK 1964 Vox Continental V301J! pretty cool stuff, the vox had a lot of issues when it first came but most of them are fixed now. Just some transistors need to be replaced as all the C's are an octave higher than they should (if you can notice you might hear it in this video tho it's subtle lol) Anyways this is a great Grateful Dead song and fun to play (Learnt it from th...

This is a song I wrote for my new band the International Psych Band! Our EP will be coming out early next January if things all go to plan. This song will be included. I played the organ on this song which is why I covered it but the other songs on the EP will include Nate from Vox Jaguar Videos / The Iron Butterfly Channel on organ as well as Lee Peterson on guitar & bass with John Graham on l...

Bluesy!
Singing through you to me🤷♂️ Thunderbolts caught easily🤷🏻♂️ Shouts the truth Peacefully EEEELEEECTRICITYYYY
This piece is absolutely beautiful and how you’re playing it is wonderful. Is there a way you can do another video showing the chords and also with the left hand note?
They used wifi or Bluetooth back then already!?
Can you make a cover of creations disciple-psyhodelic retraction?
I remain very confused! If Stevie Winwood is on keyboards, where is Spence Davis? Why do they never appear together? Are they one and the same person?
@@williambunter3311 Spencer Davis is the rhythm guitar player! He’s the one playing guitar in the background of this clip
The band didn't like this film but I do. The young lady was delightful..
Great playing brother, really enjoyed this!
Great and nice job on that solo. I originally heard The Fall's cover of this song and dug up the original.
great job!
Awesome! The mix is really good, tones are spot on, great playing! Good job!
@@BecaSchmitt thanks heaps! I tried my best haha
Good stuff here
@@baileysparkes cheers dude 🔥

Excellent work dude!

@@juke699 thanks!
I love the dancing waitress!
Music machine was fantastic
Yeah they're great!
I purchased the music machine album from a vendor based on my selections and he said if you buy the music machine turn on the music machine that is, I will refund your money if you don’t like it needless to say I didn’t do it and it was one of the best album I’ve ever heard this site is a little funky. I’m not used to doing that, but I formed the band with black this and internal necks around this whole band. They’re wonderful. I hope you like it.
Expressive!
Now that's a huge piano bass 😅
hahaha yeah for sure! wish i had the money for a real one, this yamaha is a bit too big
@@walrusmusic7875 i have one. somewhere. But not where I am right now!

Late to the party but that was great. Well done
Thank you!
As an American, we LOVED them here. It was Mike Smith who was the REAL talent and star! Handsome, too!
Excellent cover! Nice Vox! Is that a Jaguar?
Thanks! and yeppp sure is
This is awesome. The guys tuned to Eb standard as far as I know
Thanks! Yeah they actually tuned to like C# standard or something crazy like that, haven't found anyone as early tuning down that low.
amazing
great upload
Amazing performance, thank you.
when you played a chord you called "C add 7" was it looked to me like it was just a C chord with a C played an octave above the triad.
My bad man. It’s supposed to have an A#.

@@Ned88Man haha nah dude I’m just an idiot.

Stunning Rickenbacker (surely you let me play it...)
For sure dude, you know you’re free to play any of my guitar hahah
Nice job. Guitar is spot on. Hope to hear more from you
Thank you!
Thanks man, that was great! Your new guitar sounds and looks great to me. I have been getting into the Byrds quite a bit lately. Have you ever checked out the Preflyte album?
Thank you! Yeah I thought the guitar was pretty cool too, hope to do some more byrds covers with it in future. Yeah the byrds are great, one of my favs. No I haven’t heard that one but I’ll definitely check it out, I’ve got Mr Tambourine Man, 5th Dimension & Younger Than Yesterday on vinyl so I listen to those ones quite a bit.
@@walrusmusic7875 check out Preflyte, do urself a favour! lots of good rarities there. Airport Song is a good one, a 'lost' Crosby song, absolutely beautiful tune
Sounds like Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs, which came out a year later in 1967 EDIT - I’m wrong, sorry it’s 1962
Yes I noticed similarities between those 2 songs as well! Tho Green Onions came out in 1962 so a little bit early than this one

Glad you liked it!
No need to lift fingers like that. It's actually unsuitable. Greetings.
I'll be sure to keep that in mind! cheers
Dude we have to jam together
Oh yeah for sure dude, that'd be sick
Another must see is Sina Drums' playing Inagaddadavida.
Oh yes, she's fantastic! I love her channel!
Did not know he passed; RIP. Heavy was my first album that I bought in 1968. Saw them in concert in 1969 in Houston, TX. Great show . Will always love the Iron Butterfly.
Yes i was really sad to hear that he passed. Wow that's really cool, I wish I was alive then to see them perform as well as many other fantastic bands. Iron Butterfly is the band that got me into psych music, have originals of their first 4 albums. One of my favs
I was lucky enough to see the original line-up in summer of 69' tour. Jacksonville Colliseum JAX, FL. Blues Image was the opening act. AMAZING show. My 1st concert. I was 17 and in the Marines stationed at NAS JAX. Best summer of my life.
Wow that would've been a great show!

Yeah unfortunately he has, very sad.

Doug Ingle he's gone😢 I didn't know, great played for pay homage to him
It’s so sad, he was a great musician. Thanks dude, thought i had to play something for him seeing how much he’s inspired me
Wow, it’s been a while but I felt like I had to comment on this video. Shocking news I have just received. Doug should be recognized as one of the greatest organ players of all time by everyone. RIP to the legend. Also great job on this song and glad to see you were able to get yourself a real Vox Continental man!
I feel that dude, I couldn’t believe it when I read that he had died. I agree with that, I don’t understand why he isn’t rated as one of the best players tbh. And thanks dude, I’m glad I got one, I love playing it, it sounds so nice
The Vox Continental is still high $$$ even today!
@@j.lietka9406 for real! There’s nothing that’s underneath 1,000 dollars today.
Ray Manzarek of The Doors also played a Vox Continental.
@@johnstorton and a Hammond B I believe!
sounds like the recorded music is off to the tune of the organ -I always use a Cd player or turntable with pitch control-etc.
It could be, I just got it off UA-cam because it’s easy to download and put into logic. Could also be the organ that’s out of tune, who knows haha
@@walrusmusic7875 most old organs are about 432 --not 440 --they are always slightly out
good to limber up the fingers
Yeah it definitely it!
Really enjoy your cover, Great Stuff. Any chance you could do the guitar cover for "Can't Seem to Make you mine" by the Seeds. ua-cam.com/video/OL29V72jhQQ/v-deo.html Thanks
