I found massive gold nuggets and a rich reef whilst prospecting in Australia with a metal detector !

- G'Day Tubers, here is my updated tale of how I discovered the amazingly rich Elephant Reef and its associated shed of huge gold nuggets. (When I started YT in the beginning of 2022, I posted a couple of videos about this discovery,but I had limited editing skills so inundated you with lots of scrolling text, with little or no sound. These efforts weren't very popular, and I think a find of this magnitude needs proper recognition). This virgin patch was found after conducting a research program of old mining company reports, it really does pay to do arm-chair-prospecting before heading out into the field. So ... I appreciate that SS, I can tell that you are a born prospector, always trying to learn new ideas ... And not afraid of trying! I mean that's in my DNA ... "What's over that next hill?" & "Where's this creek go?" ... AND WOW! What a feeling when I get that first nugget! Took up prospecting a while ago After 6 months of careful research and using some of your techniques, I have located my first patch virgin ground old timers dug a costine but did not locate this source as the indicators are minimal and looks like its a small pocket off strike from the main reef workings has produced good amount of elluivial gold in a text book shed pattern bigger further and small closer I have located a small area 3x2m where I have found specimans and rough shinny gold the slope is below 20 degres in gradient, I have been reading Sam Cash's book and I'm going in to try to find the source I'm starting a loaming programme on the clay layer as the top 500mm has been dug and moved but the clay is untouched for better sampling results. I have located the further most extremity of the spread and using this as a guide to locate. Thank you for sharing your knowledge it has inspired me to be a better Prospector and has rewarded me also. All the best and hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks Giddo for your excellent Comment ... WOW, sounds like you're getting close to the source. Yeah read, re-read, then read again Sam's book, he was such a concise writer that it takes a lot for what he's saying to sink in. The only advice I can give you is use the quartz rocks to mark your best loams, then look for the 'apex' of the arrow that the qtz forms. That 3m x 2m area need to be dug down to the bedrock, then dolly small 20cm x 20cm squares, you'll hit the source! As you know you can't be in a rush when loaming, you have to get your head 'right', and enjoy the process. OK! I look forward to some photos or a vid of your discovery, all the best M8, P101

@@prospecting101 Everybody needs nuggets. Got mine forty years ago cleaning out a basement. Someone in the late 1800's made a watch chain with four placer nuggets. They almost went in the trash because nobody thought they were real. Accepted them instead of pay for three hours work. Tested out at 22k, 2/3 of an ounce.

Mate, check ash from old dead trees stems, just add concentrated vinegar to the ash to get rid of carbon,, then wash with water and see what is there,, you may have a treasure there ..

damn fine detecting man.since the snow went away for a lil while nd the weather had warmed up a bit i went out last friday to the old stomping grounds and done some highbanking... only pulled out .14 of a gram of flour gold (thats what is in that area)for several hours of work but hey its still spring here and ma nature is being bi polar...... so hoping the weather gets warmer soon and i can find the good spots before the creek dries up... heavy pans my friend

@@prospecting101 the deposits that have been being dug came from the comstock load in virgina city nv before it was ever discovered. the creek bed that most of us ( ALOT OF FOLKS GO TO THIS AREA) dig in most of us are about 50 feet off the creek bed on the side hills so trying to look back through time at where the old channel ran is not always as straight forward as i would like loloh well such is life. its off to the canyon take care and heavy pans

@Prospecting 101 For Gold Nuggets In Australia ok thanks for that, I've got the 2300 and the 5000, was toying with the idea of getting rid of both and buying a Z7 and 12" NF coil, but I love the 5000 and the million coils I have for it 😀

Definitely told better very exciting however I’m in agreement with some others (even though I don’t like the sound of my own voice when I hear it lol) I think with practice you could do the voiceover yourself and it would complete these stories perfectly.
