The bad thing about "new" parts that don't work is you begin to question yourself as to what you did wrong, not the new stuff don't work. Good idea using the stronger go pro magnet!

Love the videos--hadn't seen that kind of cylinder w/ the big nut on the end in a while.
When you walked over by the wall-to get bolts/nuts--lo and behold--brown Lawson brand bolts and nuts. Had the same set up in the construction company shop i worked in for years. Nothing but grade 8--don't even fool with anything else on equipement and trucks. Not worth the hassle. We lost a CAT engine one time when someone used cheaper stuff and a broken washer somehow got mixed up in the turbo somehow. The owner went ballestic...That's when Lawson stuff showed up the next week.

Clint, found your channel, after you and Dirt perfect, had problems. Now you are my favorite channel !!. I'm an old logger from VT. 45 years, and then was crippled up, just getting off my skidder in a snow storm, 15 yrs ago. I wish you had your channel, yrs ago! I always worked on my equipment, doing whatever I could do by myself. Watching your channel, l have learned Soo many things, that I could have done myself. I am amazed, how much you know, at your age!! . I know this is a long comment, but l wanted to touch on a couple more points, of why I love your channel. You and l, share the privilege of having great help! Including, your boys. My son is 50 now and is still in the logging industry. And l always have been lucky enough, to have, a Kevin, and or , a Man behind the scenes, like Dirt perfect!! They are what keeps the moral up, and are worth their weight in gold!!! Never forget how important your employees are!!! A quick experience l had with my friend and employee, Tony. He was cutting timber for me, on a steep hill, l came up with the skidder for another hitch. I saw a large.widow maker hanging from the tree he was going to cut next. I got off the machines to warn him to watch out for it. We were 40 ft away from the tree, l had my back to the tree,.and he hollered , look out!! The limb broke loose, came down tip first, and l started running, but with my luck, in the wrong direction!!! I put my arm over my hardhat , but the limb, ( 6in) oak, hit me, and knocked me out, and broke my arm in 3 places. Anyways, when I came to, the first thing he said, was , good thing you came to, because I was just going to grab your wallet!!! Sounds like something that Kevin might say, doesn't it?? LOl 🤣. He then drove me to the hospital, he is a great Red Sox fan, and l am a Yankee fan!! The doctor asked me if I wanted a sports wrap on my cast, l said yes, Yankee. When l came out to the waiting room, and Tony saw the wrap, he refused to let me in his truck, to take me home!!! Sorry it was so long, but wanted to let everyone know, how important it is to be friends, and appreciate your employees!!! It makes all aspects of your business, go smooth!!! LUV you guys, and God Bless!!!

@@C_CEQUIPMENT Something else you might consider when using magnets...don't allow them to come in contact or close proximity with their metal support structures. If you apply a magnet to metal and then try to attract some other metal of your intention, such as a glass envelope reed switch, you'll find that too much of the magnet's field is already tied-up with the support. The magnetic field that you thought you had, is suddenly diluted.

I know this is an old posting but I have just now gone to some of these as I do enjoy the way your work with you people, Kevin is a hoot, he has a great personality for the work he is doing. Just as an FYI, I an a mechanical/process engineer just retired from over 40 years working in the Semiconductor Manufacturing industry for the worlds largest processor manufacturer (think computers, x86........ and newer). I had to do development and upgrades to make the equipment that does what we need as there is just no one that can make it as we are on the cutting edge. My $0.02 worth is that the steal you are using to hold the magnet that operates the little reed switch is spreading the field too much to focus that point you need, most likely due to a poor magnet from JD. I always love these problems, they are fun to me. I love your channel. After I retired, I moved to upper Indiana to be with family and would some day like to drift south to check C&C and Dirt Prefect out some. Not looking for a visit, just a drive by and say "I know them". Keep the great content coming, love what you are doing!

At the 19:25 mark I got a chuckle at your comment about saving the end connectors to use again. I used to do that with extension cords. When I moved I took those to my son for his use. Only problem, I had a container that held 4 gallon milk jugs and it was full of ends. Never did get around to using them.

If you have a strong electo magnet you can re-magnatize weak iron magnets by laying the iron magnet on the electro magnet (turned off) then turn on the electro magnet and pull off the iron magnet. If you wait to pull off the iron magnet until after you turn off the electro nagnet then it will be demagnetized. If I remember correctly it will not work to have the electo magnet turned on when you set the iron magnet upon it. The magnet on a mag drill should work for this purpose.

50.8 mm=2 inch. Close to 7/50 of an inch less. The gap with magnets is important.
If youre afraid of the strip moving to much make it a t profile. What also goes is north/south pole. Try to rotate it 180°. Forward goes backward.

The magnet worked prior to attaching it with the new, longer, harness. Is it possible that the magnet was demagnetized somehow prior to installation? If not, was the space between the magnet and the sensor close enough? Maybe the camera magnet is stronger and is able to trip the sensor from a greater distance.

  • @bicycle-oq1eh

Most enjoyable watching you work. I think that the magnet problem was caused by the arm been made of iron. If the arm was made of aluminium or other non ferrous material, I think that the magnet would have worked ok. The John Deere bracket was probably made of a low or non ferrous material. To test it , I would have bolted on a piece of aluminium or rigid plastic to your arm & attached the magnet to that.....That's just my pennies worth of information but may not be worth that much. You do excellent work, good video & perfect narrative. Keep up the good work. 👏🎬💯% 🏆

Amazing how old equipment can be brought back to life. Without being over specific it would be interesting for you to break down a typical find, rebuild/repair and show how you decide what is worth saving since we know you are a business and if it doesn't make financial sense you wouldn't do it. Unless it is a really cool project I guess...LOL😁
