Whole thing look like incident involving few ships at best.

      @@jonathantifone8001 Worst thing is that there is perfect candidate for that. A Romulan War movie!
      We did have far more militarized United Earth, during actual existential conflict for Earth. With really interesting plot involving reaction to initial surprise attack. Romulans being forced to pull from Kviv. And then lock in proxy war with Coalition members sending Earth weapons. What end with deep strike in Romulan territory resulting with they lost of main shipyard. But then pulling off from war under cope excuse, as only showing Earth they place. When in reality they almost lost, but Coalition didn't know state of they forces.
      Plus there is a lot of late NX ships to pull! NV and Poseidon class Destroyers. Early Daedalus and its militarized derivative Minuteman as missile boats. Last stand of Discovery/Conestoga class (pickets). Yorktown class Battleships! Plot could focus on crew of modernized Freedom class (Franklin) ship. Stuck behind the enemy lines and discovering Romulan shipyard. We could also have Archer camo in Columbia class modification of NX. And during last battle, crew would switch to recently constructed Ceres class (=UESS Bonaventure). I mean. there is so much cool stuff and navy warfare plot to take inspiration!
      And in last scene we actually would see Bonaventure class (same hulls as Mayflower), with Strider (modernized NV) and Loknar class as escort (refitted light NX Destroyers). During formation of Federation.
      But nop!

    Federation-Gorn Policing Action, aka Starfleet's first defeat.
    Mostly a Ground based war, backed by Andorians. Starfleet expermented heavily with transporter based troop movements while Gorn made extensive use of Underground turbolift networks. Brought Romulan intervention by supplying Gorn with plasma torpedoes and disrupter weaponry.
    Saw the end of Star Fleet Marine Corps and the Tactical branch reorganized into Star Fleet Security.

    I like to think that the Xindi attack doesn't happen in the TOS>TNG>DS9>VOY timeline, it is erased by the nullification of the Temporal Cold War.
    Disco, SNW and others though... branching from ENT (being far more advanced than it should be for the era thanks to TCW meddling) I like to think it didn't happen, but people remember it in that timeline. Hence the change in Starfleet going into Disco and onwards.

    This has been quite the extensive Q&A. In general, I agree with most these answers with few exceptions. 1.) I still think Ent-E could have been shown or at least mentioned, given its Earth, two Sovereigns wouldn't be excessive. 2.) I'd see a Breen ground raid on SF Command in the form of a strike team trying to steal data on Starfleet ship & personal locations or maybe a steal a historical artifact or super tech. 3.) Planet bunkers could still be viable if they're many miles underground instead of a few meters. Those specific queries aside this has been interesting to listen to (oh, and someone mentioned Hayes in VOY).
    As for that brief mention of a 4th Horseman episode. I look forward to the revelation of what it will be about.

      Like I say 2 sovereigns is a lot to just be sitting around. Surely a ground raid would be better left to changelings who you then beam out. Even then there's the problem of escape. And in the die is cast the romulan bombardment destroys most of the planetary crust.

      @occultatumquaestio5226 2 місяці тому +3

      @@venomgeekmedia9886 ; Well Victoria is likely just out of spacedock and Enterprise could just have been nearby or undergoing maintenance. The Breen going in for the data probably don't expect being able to get out, just to transmit. And an underground bunker just needs to last long enough for allied ships to come and rescue survives.

      @@occultatumquaestio5226 It is also possible that Enterprise was assigned to escort Victoria to the frontlines following her shakedown cruise and commissioning.
      If you don't feel comfortable keeping two Sovereigns together, then a couple of Galaxies could replace Enterprise upon reaching the fleet she was assigned to. But to me, it makes sense, because that way, if any Dominion forces did try to ambush any Sovereigns, they'd be in for a rough time, because they could either escape via their high flanking speed, or take down one of the Dominion's very valuable Battlecruisers, and possibly even a Battleship.

    Is it possible that the brain attack on Earth was a joint mission using green ships and gemadar shock troops along with their brain which is why there were more fanatical the gemadar may have rigged the ship to blow or ships to explode instead of being captured? It's possible also that the brain didn't want to be captured and tortured and interrogated for information on their fleet on their tactics on their ship's abilities? Also by destroying the ships they prevent anybody from checking out their technology advancements You can learn a lot about the species by looking at their technology and seeing what they have developed In the way of warp engines weapons defenses Etcetera and then you can plan for those and work around them with what you've got To effectively use what you have to defeat or defend yourself against an opponent.

  • @armyfirefighter
    @armyfirefighter 2 місяці тому +4

    Very much enjoyed the video.
    Just a quick observation about the.... method of the attack and the war at this point.
    The entire war at this point seems to have changed from a strategic military victory on the part of the Dominion to a psychological/terror focus to try and force a settlement in an attempt for time and to regroup to fight again with rebuilt forces. The DS9 episode with Bashir and the "augments" where they helped stop the Dominion peace proposals. The episodes around Nog being injured and recovering from his injury with the Jem Hadar exacting so many casualties on strategically worthless planetoids with subspace terror weapons.
    Now, here - the Breen were basically an unknown except a bit to the Feringi and the Romulans. So what did the Founder do - she left all the Allies escape pods alive filled with "terror" filled crews as Weyoun put it to demoralize. And again the Breen attack here designed to terrorize and demoralize Earth. Seems as if the Founder and the Vorta had decided to move into more and more desperate attempts of psychological warfare
    With terror and psychological warfare in mind - attacking only San Francisco makes perfect sense. If you are very lucky, cripple and terrorize Starfleet Command, Intelligence, and the Academy - getting rid of a crop of student officers by wiping out the Presidio would hurt the fleet immediately and for decades. You don't really go after Paris and Geneva since going after the Federation President and the Council is counterproductive in building more resolve in the Federation as a whole - and who do you negotiate with if you do such a thing? The HIgh Council or the Romulan Senate? Gowron is already acting recklessly and the Senate already thinks it has been targeted for decapitation and would be on their Romulan guard. This attack keeps the Breen as the unknown terror you fight against and always lose, who can strike everywhere, you can't stop without horrific casualties. The Founders are best at terror and psychological warfare. And as a pirate or privateer force as you have painted Breen fleet doctrine - that method of terror campaign makes sense with piracy.

    • @venomgeekmedia9886
      @venomgeekmedia9886  2 місяці тому +1

      Indeed. Of course terror tactics aren't always effective especially if your enemy is approaching the war materially and not psychologically

    • @armyfirefighter
      @armyfirefighter 2 місяці тому +1

      @venomgeekmedia9886 Absolutely.
      And I think that was another error on the part of the Dominion. The Founder and the Vorta were accustomed to solids that would fold - like the Karrema. The Federation tended to find terror tactics as fueling resolve in the long run, even if smaller units did become demoralized. Many other species would be cowed by terror but at the core of the Federation - the Vulcans would find it illogical and a sign of desperation that an end was near. The Andorians would be enraged. The Tellarites would see it as a strategic blunder and the humans would mourn their dead. But there would be far more Joseph Sisko's in the population than they thought possible. Your video on the Betazoids showed they resisted immediately to the point of some "losing their souls" if you will. On and on. After facing true horror in the Borg... The incidiousness of Root Beer takes hold as Quark might say.
      Dukat might have commented on that error - like when he told Weyoun not to touch Earth - but by then he was long gone and the one element of the Dominion coalition who knew and fought the humans were tacitly against their Dominion allies.

    If memory serves, STO had the Breen attacking Star Fleet Archives. Pulling a data dump of those will have plenty of cartography data, stellar oddities, structural blue prints of service craft, listing of assets and locations, and possibly some of Star Fleet's black budget projects. I am probably not remembering correctly and filling in gaps. Please ignore.
    Breen Power Drain? This is not related to the episode Ship in a Bottle? That atleast predates Borg in the Alpha Quadrant.
    The Attack on Earth seems like a mix of Operation Chariot and the last voyage of the Yamato. And a bit of the Blitz and Fire Bombing of Tokyo. It is a bit messed up.
    Not trying to pick a fight, just a conversation. Good episode.

    Not able to handle it within the space of a Battlespace episode. So what you're saying is Battlespace the Movie? ;D
    I feel like your fleet size for Starfleet is low. 400 ships during TNG means they lost nearly 10% of it at Wolf 359. Plus during Operation Return, we had 600+ ships that were borrowed from two fleets just for that operation. Unless you refer to a "pre-war fleet" as the individual fleets like we see in use in the Dominion War. In which case it still seems a bit low due to Operation Return's numbers, but more acceptable (honestly, I look at the fleets being 1000-3000 Starfleet ships during the Dominion War). And doesn't rule out fleet size increasing further the closer we get to the actual War starting.
    Plus having 10k-30k ships total for Starfleet (outside of Runabouts etc) as a result seems feasible given the Registry growth pre-TNG, while still seemingly having few ships around (If Fed space is 8k ly across, for the sake of argument let's call it a perfect circle... we'd end up with 1 ship per ~1677 sq ly with a 30k ship Starfleet).

    When you do the Battle of Kardashian it'd be interesting to see the three different fleets tactics individually and combined versus the Kardashians the brain and the Dominion forces. it'll be interesting to see what the Starfleet does what the Clintons do what the Romans do and if there's any 4th parties involved on the side of the alliance if they recruited any other forces to help them and what the other three on the other side were doing the brain the Dominion forces and the Kardashians consume the Kardashians switch sides in the middle of it is interesting to note how did the tactics change for the three coalition side when the Kardashians defected to the coalition forces how did the brain and how did the Dominion react? Do you think that's an interesting idea to pursue I hope so!

    Why wouldn't they have many many layers of shielding protecting the people in the bunkers? Like, have one set of shield equivalent to galaxy class at the first level, then another warp core powering another set of shield emitters behind that first layer, and then another warp core and a third set of shields around the actual bunker. You could then have ablative shielding and some sort of active defense system in a layer of open space between the outside of whatever's housing the people you're trying to protect. Just look at what the Starfleet Corps of Engineers were able to do with simple handheld phasers over 10 months under the surface of Regula 1.
    Constructing an elaborate underground infrastructure, especially when we could set up transporter relays deep down there so we can beam from New York to Paris in an instant and evade the calamity on the surface altogether, seems like a no brainer and a very effective way to avoid anything happening on the surface. Why they didn't do this, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE WHALE PROBE INCIDENT, is beyond me.

    How did you determine the Oct 1 2375 attack date? The closest date I could find to the attack was stardate 52684.3 (DS9 7x21 “When it Rains”) which according to O’Briens’ dialogue is only several days after the attack. Most stardate calculators put that date at around Sun 7 Sep 2375.
    Is there a source I missed or is the date purely part of your own world-building?

    I think the civilian casualties being so low is because perhaps technically, humanity doens't have that many civilians. Most humans probably go into star fleet in some capacity and thus, aside from those persuing some non-space-related craft, aren't really considered "civilians". Especially not for casualty numbers. That always looks terrible.

    I always wondered what would happen if the Borg got a hold of some shape shifters and assimilated them Into the collective how dangerous would that be shape shifting Borg? Another question I've had is why didn't the federation try and contact species 8472 after Voyager returned to the alpha quadrant to help defend against shape shifters and the board form an alliance between the alpha quadrant and the Delta Quadrant or E space or not E space fluidic space? I think that would be a fantastic alliance a species that can't be assimilated probably can't be shapeshifted into either because the shape shifters would be able to mimic their DNA sequence to give them their abilities such as their telepathic abilities and their healing factor and their intelligence ships living ships? Don't you think that that would be fantastic alliance Between fluidic space species 8472 And the alpha quadrant coalition? maybe that's something we'll follow up in anything future from Picard onwards I would think Admiral Jane way would be pushing for at least continued contact with species 8472 at this point because they were the most effective defense against the board And that she would be using neelix as a liaison into the Delta Quadrant to contact species 8472. I know Neil is not going to end up like a jar jar banks He's not that stupid

    question, is the heavy 'earth focus' for star fleet a disatvange for the federation. like i get the federation is bassicaly the uninted nations in space (only occionaly useful) but ive always found it odd that say if your a vulcan if you want to be apart of starfleet you cant just join your planets fleet. and that fleet is apart of a larger whole
    you have to slub your way all to way to earth and not just earth but a singel city on earth with no out posts were you be trained, it has to be sanfransisco and since it seems like its not uncommon ships to be domanted by mostly singel speices crews
    it would be like if an aussie solider volanteered to become a un peace keeper, and had to train in i dont know, athains greace and could not become a un peace keeper anywehre else. only then to be sent back to serve on an aussie base or war ship

    Lol. Xindi probe attack is just so not like what military would do. I have nothing against the story line, but who would attack and reveal you have this type of weapon, before achieving your objective to have larger attack...
    Breen not using its energy weapon on earth's attack, I viewed the Breen attack on earth as to introduce more terror in the war.
    I agree that the Breen just had developed the energy weapon or perfective it. Just because they are still installing it on the Dominion ship (Jem'Dar Ships) or you would think they would have installed before revealing the Breen as an ally.

    Before watching the video. Let me just lay out my theory. It boils down to this. It was all psychological. Earth is the heart of the Federation. It is the most defended planet within the Federation. Some of the largest shipyards are also within the Sol System. Earth has been seen to be untouchable. Even if they fear the Changelings slipping through and undermining Starfleet from within. Starfleet had created ways to detect Changelings. So they felt safe.
    On top of that. Starfleet had developed countermeasures and defenses for Dominion weapons. So the Dominion could not simply roll through. But the Breen on the other hand.
    Starfleet had very few interactions with the Breen. Maybe a handful of spats and hit and runs. Never out and out battles. As the Breen mostly operated as pirates. So Starfleet has never seen their weapons brought to full bear upon them. The Attack of Earth showed this. As the Breen disabled rather quickly any defending ships with their larger capitol ships and smaller attack fighters swooped into low Earth orbit or through the atmosphere. And attacked anything and everything. There was little Starfleet could do to mount a defense for a few short minutes. Then, when heavy hitters started to warp in to repel the Breen. The Breen took off running. Their attack did what they wanted. Send fear to the general population of the Federation.
    After all, several key worlds had already been taken by the Dominion. Yet, a direct assault on Earth. That shook the very foundation of the Federation. The people. After all, if the Dominion could already take a few key worlds. Then, able to attack Earth. What would stop them from trying again with a larger force? Could Earth hold out? Would Earth be taken? These were questions that the people were asking and well, the Federation had to quell the fear quickly or the fear would turn into anger. That anger would turn into violence and would undermine the security of Earth further.
    After all, Marshall Law had already been put into place before and likely enforced again. All to keep order. Federation is not above doing such actions.. The duality of such a government.
    Now, I shall watch the video and see how close I was with my own theory.

    I don't think that the volume of similar comments really does enough justice to the sentiment, but you've created the absolutely quintessential thumbnail for this, and people who teach YouTubing (or whatever they'll end up calling it) 30 years from now will likely end up using your thumbnail in order to teach how to synthesize abstract design philosophies into a simple, recognizable, and alluring thumbnail. However, it probably won't mean much to you by then, I'm sorry to say, since speaking statistically here, most of us are likely to perish as the result of all disease of war occurring during Trump's second term.
    If it's any consolation, I can see someone finding your sketch of the thumbnail picture something like a hundred years from now, and they'll take it on the Antique's Roadshow where someone will inevitably tell them, "Oh! Well, yes. While that's very nice and everything, we don't use money anymore. Yeah, mate, sorry about that." Of course they're British, because this is the Antique's Roadshow and a hundred years isn't so long to them that it would be anyone but a Brit presenting the assessment. Well, except maybe it could be a Robotic Cat-girl, like in all of my hyper-violent ultra-sexual Chinese cartoons.
    They'd wait until you were done having that thought, then continue, "In light of that fact, it'd be difficult, even meaningless, to try assigning a monetary value to this wonderful piece of history, right? I don't even understand why we do this show anymore, frankly, beyond unceasing boredom inherent with living on planet as a part of a society that's done away with poverty and scarcity. But putting that aside, thank you so much for bringing this down from the seclusion zone and sharing it with us today. I'm really quite chuffed to be able to handle something like this outside of a Virtual Reality Museum. Sometimes, the haptic feedback in the suits just doesn't quite get the definition on the texture of the object you're supposed to be holding quite correct, you know? Now, you'd better hurry on and get back to the Nerd Reservation before the sun sets, unless you want an enforcer drone to find you and zap your testicles until you're sterile!"
    So yeah, all that to say, I like the thumbnail, brother. Good work. =)

    I have three issues with you breen attack.
    1: it is stated in DS9 that the female foudner is the only founder stuck in the alpha quadrant thus there can't be any changeling on earth at the time of the breen attack, especially since they are all suffering from the Section 31 virus as well.
    2: After Leyton's coup attack why didn't starfleet review their defenses since a single squad of cadets manage to sabotage their power grid. add in the other thigns he tried to pull of and just mere years before the war kicked off seems stupid to not.
    3: I highly doubt Starfleet would be decomissioning ships durign a war. they may be older ships but they can still be used. We see miranda's used heavily and full fleet engagements. so why not keep others around for second line duty. in WW2 Texas was horrbly obsolete with only her guns being of usefulness yet she was not decomissioned till after the war. a Connie may not be a frontline ship anymore (though again they used the Miranda in frontline fleets) but she can still do convoy escort or some other duties freeing up a more modern ship for frontline duty

    The brain attacks on Earth other than San Francisco which was targeted or more of a shock and awe or a blitzkrieg type attack do as much damage as possible and scare the populace Take up some of the populace if you can So that you have to split defensive resources instead of protecting San Francisco and Starfleet headquarters they have to spread their forces a little bit more thin to protect for other targets and shots shots taken at the broadside so to speak so they had some places attacking the bridge of the ship and other places were attacking like the cannons the crewmen the cruise quarters that kind of stuff in an old fashioned frigate shoe you go after the targets that are most appropriate at the time It's fairly similar to the Blitzkrieg that determines did on France and Belgium and Holland they picked their objectives and some places they did specific attacks upon take off the infrastructure and other places they attack like in England after a certain point of the the Battle of England or Battle of Britain they hit random targets just to cause mayhem and as a revenge tactic so I suspect both of those reasons

    I have to disagree. If the Breen got their cloaking tech from either the Klingons or Romulans, it would have to be the Klingons. That would explain why the Breen drain weapons did not work on Klingon ships and did affect Romulan ships cause the Breen made it so it would not affect them cause they had Klingon cloaking devices.

    Sto should have had it be an air assault. Fighters or ground based weapon systems. Anti air craft. .
    Victoria would be he 6th sovereign ? I can think of 5
    Id argue the breen didn't use the weapon. For a couple of reasons .
    First the task force was on a suicide mission. Second they didn't want the federation to know they had it yet. They wanted a bigger battle. To add to the the impact of earth . .
    The breen ship wreckage would be analysed. And we know that the breen weapon was neutralised by when they got to examine one .
    If starfleet knew they had it they would not have committed hundreds of ships to a major battle.
    This way they breen took out around. 600 energy ships ( both battles)
    A two massive moral destroying fear inducing shovks . Ross and sisco were practically out of hope until damar made his broadcast. .
    The klingons were lucky and federation and romulans withdrew all ships and the klingon fleet was deployed to hit and run engagement only . And that was just a temporary hail mary
    If the founder had insisted on the jem hadar having them installed and damars resistance. They could have ein the war . . ( i mean used mixed units breen with jem hadar escorts ) .
    That delay and the allied fleets getting a chance to combine and call in reserves. With the desperation. And the certainty that inly chopping off the head with kill the body .
    And even then it was the dominion massacre and cardassians , turning into Italians ( ww2 ) kidding * . But for thst the dominion would have won the battle/ war .
    Fun fact . In the moment the cardassians opened fire . They managed to destroy 2 thousand dominion ships . ( many more when the allies exploited the opportunity) . A stunning reversal ( may two cents)

    to create earthquake with startrek tech or weaponry probably isn't that hard. with the faults dampeners off line modified torpedo casing could burrow into the fault line and detonate at key points and times triggering a quake not to destroy the city but damage enough systems to take down shields.
    you could even fire the torpedoes to dig UNDER Starfleet headquarters bypassing the shield and explode

All any of this did was make starfleet aware of their intentions and give Enterprise all this time to figure it all out. Thus, more seasons of Enterprise. Blow the bloody doors off use you to **** your screens and tractor beans to move the stuff out of the way. you get your fast ships out there quicker and you get your bigger ships out there to support them. worry about fixing stuff later in the debris later The ability to win the battle is paramount to damage done to the doors. the poor excuse there's debris in the way so what use your deflector screens Shields to take out the bigger pieces to flex them away and use your tractor being to to move the little **** out of the way. and I'm sure the station itself has tractor beams inside and out to repel stuff out of the way wesley Crusher moves you prove that you can make a repulsive beam out of a tractor beam I'm sure that information is recorded somewhere in Starfleet history of how it was done and why it was done to move the Tikoski out of the way I put in line with the stellar fragment. so I don't buy that it's this debris in the way doesn't doesn't cut butter

    With all due respect, I'm appreciative of the work & research the Breen Attack video took, but the exclusion of the Enterprise is dumb
    - It's inclusion is part of Beta canon
    - You wanted to "include the stories of other Sovereigns"? You mean like the USS Sovereign in the Toros III Raid aka, the start of the Dominion War (?)
    - Also you swap out a story of a ship people care about (the Enterprise) for one that no one cares about... sound logic

      The Enterprise is probably assigned to whatever plans are to liberate Betazed. In the books, it was liberated before the Breen attack. Here, Betazed won't be liberated until before Cardassia. I think Picard and Riker would probably have asked to be assigned to the Betazed liberation. Thus why it was away from Earth at this time. Honestly, I like VenomGeekMedia's take on the Dominion War. It gives a lot of time to OTHER officers and ships and they don't need to be everywhere.
