When I see things like this, it makes me realise I was born in the wrong era. There is nothing but joy in those people dancing and care free. Wonderful.
Always a pleasure too watch Steve dance. Always look forward too watching him dance. He is smooth, slick and just glides across the dance floor. Awesome. He makes it look effortless.
Sadly the fella in the white vest passed away last year, he was a proper character on the scene, i used to chat to him for ages every event we were both at and the lady in red top isa great dancer i agree.
steve's style is of the original "floaters" where they floated across the floor whereas the more modern style is more "bouncy". lets keep it original guys, and follow one of the greats here,,,, LOOK AND LEARN.
Yes, truly old school gliding along I still do it like the new stuff, but its way to trick for me now!15 yrs back no probs, what matters is we dance from the soul, an the heart! Rocking!!
How the frig does he do it. I’ve tried and tried, tripping over everything, knocking things over. Like dumbo on magic mushrooms. I’d love to dance like this, any good sites I can get lessons off. Cheers all
I went to. Wigan and and other venues all over no one danced like Steve but that doesn't mean he's not a good dancer cos he is met some people for Shirebrook there's was some good dancers among them just like Steve who had there own style of dancing
lol ive never seen anyone dance like they did at Wigan, i never went, but everyone i knew did and i used to watch them practice every week, each to their own tbh everyone dances different, some just copy and try and be like Steve or whoever.
@@RosalindShute I know mate. So many excellent dancers these days, especially among the young newcomers. It's very comforting to know that our beloved music and the scene itself will go on, hopefully forever. KTF ✊
I must admit I "don't get" Northern Soul dancing .... I see this guy is a good example of the style .... it's just that so many NS dancers look so miserable!
I can honestly say did Wigan and a lot of the other venues and I don’t remember any one dancing like this ,don’t really know what he’s doing to be honest
lol i never went but all my mates did, the other funny thing is the tracks some claim were the top dance ones at the time were totally different to everything my mates used to play at the time.
@@kevinjackson6387 lol, i only got into the scene aged 57, four years ago and i have to date, met the "first", wigan casino" dance champion about ten times and each person was a different one, the lying bastards, lol.
It is easy I'm 69 and can still do it ok can't twist around or fall backwards and jump up anymore but you just move to the music that's what dancing is about I get fed up so I put on Frank Wilson or dobie gray or a bit of tamla and dance round my lounge one of my children took me to gladstonebury last year can't walk very well just danced it
I agree Stephen he is superb as is james, arron, etc alas i have not filmed them much, btw if Conner from Congleton enters this years blackpool dance comp he will be the winner, a good pal of Stephens too
Best Northern soul dancer i dont think so, he's ok but Wigan casino had some outstanding dancers ,i went there from 1977 till 1981 the year it closed & dare i say but i was a decent dancer , i'm too old for it all now though at age 63 & also have arthritis . some great memories though.
The guys good ,but the best ? No .The old style original dancers now past there prime, from the 70s ,were original northern soul dancers, had all the moves, you had to be there to appreciate the quality, great times. They were all great 👯♂️dancers.Todays dancers aren’t Northern ,but freestylers, but Youth fitness and the love of the music, makes it all equal, different eras ,different styles, but all happy dancing to Northern Soul 👍👍👍🎶🎶

You're so right. We didn't have a care in the world back then. All we thought about, dreamed about was going to an all-nighter at the weekend.

One of the few dancers that looks up and not down at their feet, as they should.
Exactly! it's probably the most important part of NS dancing (after feeling it in your bones and havin' a good time of course)
Cracking stuff. Love it. I'd go arse-over-head - no question!
Rob Pearce is sublime perfection dancer in my mind.
Australia
Why isn’t this on that old dancing programme on Saturday nights?
Great to watch him!!
Effortless, cool, authentic
To be fair he is top class.

In the old daysyou were looking to have 2 foot to dance never mind 20 foot
Aye when I was a lad lol
No acrobatics so no not the best but yes a very good dancer
There are other videos of him back flipping etc (acrobatics) so yes, in some people’s eyes, he’s the best.
Just looks very odd to me.
Not even close to being the best
Really
