Ehmm.. Actually the newest insights about cholesterol and fats are:
      1) Saturated fats have NO IMPACT WHATSOEVER on human health (they do however on rabbits). Animal fat is safe, butter and cream are safe, avocado and coconut oil (vergin, cold pressed and not refined) are safe. We progressed to humans from primates on animal fats. We got unsaturated fats from fatty fish, meat and perhaps an olijve or two only. So, besides proof from clinical experiments, this is only logic in the light of evolution.
      2) The so-called "heart healthy vegetable oils", or seed oils, are highly processed, unnatural, readily oxidized products.
Treated with solvents like hexane, with caustic soda, deodorized, treated at high temperatures, ALL nutrients are removed. They are NOT FOOD. Some 100 years ago companies found that they could use waste of cotton production to make industrial machine oil. Later they started to produce margarine from these oils (Crisco). Oils were "hardened" by adding hydrogen at high temperature and pressure.
After some time TRANSFATS were found to be very unhealthy and processes were changed. Yet, margarine remains unhealthy.
Up to this day we see advertisements for the poly unsaturated fats. ❤
The truth is, that these fats react easily with oxygen (become rancid).
This happens also in e.g. your skin when you are outside on the sun. UV light, these fats in your skin and oxygen make that you BURN easily. Now you have to by sun cream, SPF 50, to avoid skin cancer. (A better alternative is taking plenty of vitamin D3, combined with vitamin K2 and magnesium. If you can afford, have your D3 tested in a blood (serum sample). Go for 50-70 ng/ml or 150-175 nmol/l.)
A few years ago I banned all artificial oils from my kitchen, they ended in the trash can. Sunflower, rapeseed, soy oil, peanut oil, canola oil AND the BECEL margarine with the "super healthy" linolic fatty acid, ALL GONE.
This summer has had a record of sun hours in my country. Every moment I could, I walked, sun bathed etc.
This year I didn't use one drop of sun cream, and got a nice tan, absolutely no sun burn. Nada, nothing. Every few years all the cells in your body are replaced and it takes a few years to get rid of the unhealthy fats. So take your time.
Oh yes.. These poly unsaturated fats that get oxidized, cause low grade chronic inflammation in your body.
Together with sugars and refined carbs, this is the main cause of metabolic syndrome. Packaged processed food is not better than junk food. Prepare your own food like your great grand mother did, seriously!
I think this is cause #1, together with smoking and too much alcohol.

Solid Advice. I had a triple heart bypass 8 years ago from doing exactly the opposite of the above advice for decades. I'm on point since the operation with nearly all of your recommendations and probably even bettering some areas.
I like that you reconize that its a packaged deal. Most plant based doctors only deal with just diet. As you point out, theres a lot more to it than that. There is your mental health (stress), physical fitness, the social aspect and the destructive addictions like Smoking/Alcohol/Drug/other addictions. I think only Dr. Dean Ornish comes close to addressing all these points every single time while guys like Essenstyn, Furhman, McDougall, Bernard, Klapper are all diet, diet, diet. You would not hear too much talk in the books of the renowned heart specialist Dr. Esselstyn about mental health (stress), exercise or destructive addictions or behaviours. That is very strange as heart disease is not all down to diet alone. I did as much serious damage in smoking about quarter of a million cigarettes as i did with my junk food eating.

Want to improve your cholesterol...the cholesterol that matters, say goodbye to sugar, high fructose corn syrup, refined processed foods, and omega-6 rich seed oils. Instead, eat real food. Meat, cheese, eggs, fish, chicken, seeds, nuts, veggies, butter, cheese, avocado, mushrooms. Try to avoid starchy foods that metabolize quickly in the liver like potatoes, rice, peas, corn, pasta, breads. If you do choose to have a starchy food with your dinner, make sure to eat a salad or something with a high fiber content before you eat it. The result will be a much slower and controlled digestion and a smoother and more controlled absorption of the starch and a slower more even release of glucose into the blood. A good example is Pizza night! Everyone loves pizza, including me. Eat a hearty bowl of salad before your first slice. You'll devour less pizza, but more importantly, the pizza you do consume will be greatly slowed in it's digestion by the fiber in the salad greens.

No doubt, the high price of quality and healthy foods make it very difficult to eat properly. However, you do have choices to make. For instance, you can buy a bag of chips for $3.99 or a bag of vegetables for around the same price, maybe even a little less. Nuts and fish are a different story and as of this writing (01-26-24) we’re dealing with high inflation. Historically, lower income households bought “junk foods”because they were the affordable choice. There’s also the matter of self control and overeating! I’ve made poor choices in every area I’ve mentioned, yet I continue to make efforts to control my weight. One area is how heavy i allow myself to get. I refuse to buy larger clothing. Choices!

Sadly very few doctors who recommend D supplement ever add K requirement.

Many people who get a zero or low calcium score still have blockages and heart attacks. It’s smart to sup with k2 with d as it stops calcification and lower risk but calcification from low k is a smaller cause than the ones he mentions.

The Vitamin K1 is converted to Vitamin K2 by gut flora. And the high surface area of finly ground leaf veg allows for excellent micronutrient absorption -especially lutein, sulfur compounds etc . You can also add a few drops of EV olive oil or lignan rich flaxseed oil to improve carotenoid assimilation.

Why should i be concerned about Cholesterol? I mean if this entire cholesterol hypothesis has been debunked, and the real culprit has been revealed as chronically high levels of insulin and inflammation, and that inflammatory foods such as HFCS and the 22 to 1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 seed oils, which are responsible for the smallest "Bullet" version of LDL cholesterol. Then why should we be concerned about lowering total cholesterol. There's no danger in LDL or vLDL. I believe if memory serves, it's i-vLDL that is what seeps through the cracks in the arterial wall and lodges itself in the inflamed area.

I’m clinically obese but my average bp is 122/80. I don’t eat every MW&F as well. Can’t claim I’m vegan since I still eat Costco’s cheese pizza’s. But I was flabbergasted med school only required one semester intro class on nutrition giving doctors a false sense of authority when their parents consult them about nutrition. Humans have the physiology of a strict herbivore seen by 14/15 leading causes of death being directly linked to animal consumption. The studies are out there, I’m just surprised they aren’t taught in school. I switched to veterinarian medicine since human medicine is absolutely way too corrupt for me.

Thank you for the video! Two questions. The 150 minutes of exercise, can it be cardio workouts, or do you spesifically point to weightlifting etc? Second, i have genetically high LP(a). My LDL in general is fine. I have some doubts about taking statins, as they have lots of side effects, and according to some studies they do not do much. Is there ANY way of lowering high LP(a)? Niacin, for instance?

150 minute workout per day is for young athletes. They mean 150 minutes per week which is very doable. I break up three 20 minutes of easy workout per session per day alternate between rower and treadmill. 10,000 steps of walking would be good but half of that is be OK for me. Need to do some lifting for bone health but no heavy free weights, too dangerous. An old guy like me should avoid HIIT. Started iFIT last week, keeping me motivated. My age group, 98% of us have a lease one form of metabolic syndrome due to American diet. Avoiding sugar including juice, seed oils, processed carbs, eat real food. Two meals a day, no breakfast so far.

@@RickMartinUA-cam For those that have taken any COVID vaxx or have had repeated COVID infections - i would advise them not to do anything that gets their heart rate too fast - even HIIT - just take longer walks at a leisurely pace , and pay attention to how hot your body feels . Too many people are having Stress Cardiomyopathy as a side effect of severe repeat covid or autoimmune response to the vaxx ( from a previous asymptomatic infection)- and this abnormal inflammation of the heart can cause severe rhythm disturbances
