Hey, I did install OBS input overlay and it shows up when I open it, but the keys dont get highlighted, when I press them. I have the newest OBS studio version aswell as the newest overlay plugin version. I also tried runnning it as an administartor. Can anybody help?
Unfortunately not. I have checked but I believe the plugin does not have a data bin in which it stores previous inputs, rather it only displays inputs directly. Possibly to improve performance considering how small the plugin is.
hi, I have a question, I use a laptop and for some reason it doesn't work for me, any ideas as to why? the pluggin works and everything it's just that the actual overlay doesn't work, as in it doesn't light up when I click the individual keys
Try running OBS as administrator, make sure plugin is compatible with your version of OBS and also that you have chosen the correct config file for your specific overlay. That is the best guidance I can provide to be honest ❤
I am not entirely sure. It could likely capture two different kinds of inputs but I suggest experimenting with adding separate sources for the different controller. Also running OBS as administrator may help.
Make sure that the plugin is compatible with your version of OBS and that you have installed the latest version of the plugin. Furthermore, try running OBS as admin and reinstalling the plugin. Hope this can help
How do I make the input overlay always on screen? I mean, imagine, I just want to see the keys I press while gaming. I don't stream or anything, I just want it on my screen, like, you had yours on your wallpaper.
Unfortunately you cant, at least not that I'm aware of. You have to remember that the overlay is placed over my wallpaper through OBS, I don't actually see it on my screen itself.
@@OUKINGKYT I thought that would've been the case. Streamlabs does have a feature called game overlay where any layer can b shown on screen, but Input Overlay is not for streamlabs :( Thanks anyways
great video bro i just wanna tell you that i have this issue when i double click the istaller and i run through the process it download just the obs studio without the app itself tried to delete it and install again but not working tried to restart my pc and download it again still didnt work it just showing me the license information i realy need help cuz it will help me with my gameplays
Do you have OBS installed and updated already? You need to make sure that the version of the input overlay is compatible with the version of OBS you're trying to install it on.
Ensure that you have the latest version of the overlay and double check that it works with your current version of OBS. Furthermore, try running OBS as "Administrator" and try disabling other plugins, as there may be one blocking the overlay. Your antivirus or Windows app control can also block the overlay.
Try either updating the overlay off Github or setting OBS to a "high" processing priority if you have not already. Alternatively, you can also try running OBS as administrator.
- Restart OBS after installation - Make sure the overlay software is compatible with your version of OBS - Run OBS as administrator - Uninstall and reinstall the overlay software whilst OBS is closed
Make sure the overlay is compatible with your current version of OBS and that you 1. have the correct files loaded and 2. that the overlay is not being blocked by your antivirus. Also I highly suggest running OBS as admin.

Is there ANY input overlay where you dont need OBS and can use it offline for just having fun?
I unfortunately don't know of any, hope you find one tho ❤

Greta tutorial. Do you know if there’s a way to get just the inputs without the image (simply as text) like the input history?
Unfortunately not. I have checked but I believe the plugin does not have a data bin in which it stores previous inputs, rather it only displays inputs directly. Possibly to improve performance considering how small the plugin is.

Thank you very much for the clear installation guide! Tried installing from a different guide and wasnt well explained.

I did everything as you said but the thing won't show up under sources
Make sure that the plugin is compatible with your version of OBS and that you have installed the latest version of the plugin. Furthermore, try running OBS as admin and reinstalling the plugin. Hope this can help
By the way if you don't see the config file in the WASD folder, press "all files" and it will be there
this allowed me to find the config file but when I add it to obs then nothing shows up.
For the mouse arrow configuration, the arrow is displaced to the very left of the image, I tried messing around in the config file but it didn't work.
thank you

my config file not working when i put it in the keyboard goes all blurry and wont drag onto my screen
Make sure it's above your other display elements
My keypresses aren't showing up. The overlay is there but nothing gets highlighted...
Make sure you have the latest version and that it works on your version of OBS,
dammit, i was hoping to learn how to chroma key the grey out on the qwerty file. for some reason when i use it, it removes the white too!
It struggles to differentiate between white and grey. Maybe try doing some very find adjustments.
Either that or you could try creating a custom layout.
@@OUKINGKYTi ended up just customizing the input files to not have the gray in to begin with.

I need that background man
Wallpaper Engine - The World 4K {Artwork by Chun Lo}
@@OUKINGKYT Thank you I am now off to set that as the background of my pc
Is it safe to run the exe it says it might affect my computer
It is perfectly safe. It only says that because it is not a registered developer with Microsoft.
its a virus it has Trojans and malware
you can use the input overlay installer
Yes, that is the simplest method
thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Very helpfull thank you!
You're welcome! Glad I could help!
For some reason whenever I put in the Overlay config file and click the file. It goes invisible and I can't see anything.
yeah same
I did these steps correctly picking the exact image overlay + config file, yet it shows the overlay is invisible.. did u find the solution?
I can’t find the solution still
Ensure that you have the latest version of the overlay and double check that it works with your current version of OBS. Furthermore, try running OBS as "Administrator" and try disabling other plugins, as there may be one blocking the overlay. Your antivirus or Windows app control can also block the overlay.
Still got nothing :/
Great tutorial. Only one i could find

yo how u got that background
Wallpaper Engine on Steam
thanks
For me when i tried to install it doesn’t say anything

It finally worked. However it doesnt work when youre playing a game
I haven't run into this issue myself. Does it only happen in certain games or all of them?
Every time I click the installer to open it it won't run
Make sure you have the installer that matches your system spec (x64/x84)
each time i add the overview config file it is dissapearing
Make sure that you have the latest version of the plugin and that it is compatible with the version of OBS you are using.
Is there a limited version of OBS to which input overlay is applied?
Not as far as I am aware. If there is, that info will be on the Github page
is it just me or i cant see my input overlay option

4:25 not working
- Restart OBS after installation
- Make sure the overlay software is compatible with your version of OBS
- Run OBS as administrator
- Uninstall and reinstall the overlay software whilst OBS is closed
same, it doesn't show "Input Overlay" and i tried all of your suggested solutions but still didn't work
i have a problem i cant see it and it says its visible
Make sure the overlay is compatible with your current version of OBS and that you 1. have the correct files loaded and 2. that the overlay is not being blocked by your antivirus. Also I highly suggest running OBS as admin.
