I needed a new trunk toss around scanner that isn't junk. This FX2000 took half hour to update! I'll try it before deciding to keep or return. 🤷🏻♂️ My Actron CP9580 quit working on vehicles newer than 2010 😒 I don't like buying products that have a short legacy support life, and become e-waste, now I'm overly careful and judgemental. 😐🙄
I always thought the bank 2 o2 sensor should have a pretty constant waveform if the cat is good. It is supposed to remove the "rich" part of the exhaust, so there is no reason to oscillate. There used to be eliminators that would provide a waveform and trick the PCM. If the two o2 sensor voltages are following each other under light throttle then the cat is bad. That means the cat does nothing. The computer actually takes a exponentially weighted average of a few trips and then sets a code. That accounts for long term aging. I never looked at trims for the second 02 sensor. Good to know.
I'm trying to learn everything I can to be able to interpret live data to CORRECTLY diagnose issues. Can you explain how you were able to tell it was the cat, and not the downstream sensor being faulty? Thanks!
So knowing the vehicle and doing a visual inspection on the cat and then seeing the residue in the cat confirmed you always have to do a follow-up so I did my initial live data inspection and then I did my physical inspection and I was able to confirm that I was indeed right This vehicle with such low mileage typically wouldn't have a downstream O2 sensor problem
I don't know if this helps or hurts but the diesels that sit there in idle end up getting a forced to regeneration before they go back on the road are these catalytic converters that sit there and idle a lot a lot a lot going through the same problem but instead of being able to regenerate them you have to replace them
Something I've done to verify what's acting up is spray brake parts cleaner down the engines throat to see how quickly the O2 sensors respond. Generally a bad catalyst you can find with graphing the data and comparing to the known good cat/bank that isn't kicking the code. A bad O2 will respond very slowly to spraying fuel into the engine or will just stay flatlined or pegged out after the other bank cleans up. This is what I've found to work with me to figure out what is going on.
You bet! Been doing this type of check for over a decade on the old style O2 sensors. Carb cleaner, throttle body cleaner, brake clean (like you said), basically anything that can burn as a fuel can be a quick check to see what those O2 sensors are doing! I have seen where other mechanics throw O2 sensors at the problem, but all they are doing is shooting the messenger. Another good data point to look at is fuel trims. Have a good one!
For the money, that is a nice looking scanner. The interface reminds me of the Launch Premium model I have at work I picked up years ago, don't remember the model off the top of my head. Also has some bi-direction capabilities. The Ancel Ad310 you've showed on another video (ua-cam.com/video/WQZ5kDMWkgk/v-deo.html) looks very handy, never hurts to have a pocket scanner to throw in a tool bag on a road call or take on a road trip. And you can't beat the price with a stick!
Something I've never heard of or don't even know if it's possible instead of using something like seafoam can we use death fluid and regenerate catalytic converters by somehow injecting them into the system maybe I'm asking the stupid question or I don't know I'm asking....... I was always told the only stupid question is the one that was never asked

Since you work on a lot of cop cars, you can answer this better than anyone: Is it ever a good idea to buy a used cop car? These cars are totally abused but can they handle it?

Glad to see the some one monitor cat pics to verify dead cat. Had a great instructor for the advanced Drive course teach us this same diag direction.
Thanks for the review, I've had my A cell 2000 for a year now and it has told me everything I've needed to know on many cars
Easy money. That's a gravy job on one of those. I especially like how Ford requires you replace the hardware. Makes a huge difference.
Thanks for the review, my old obd2 was stolen, and have been looking for a decent easy to use scanner. Awesome Channel!

Right it's still the same
Should not move....it will a smidgen but that's it
The layout and the menus look just like my Launch CPR129 Premium. For the price they can access a lot of useful information.

Gee I remember when my OTC Monitor 2000 was cutting edge for OBD-1 back in the day...
Does this have the ability to activate the ABS control module for brake bleeding purposes?
It shows it has that function but I haven't tried anything out yet

Kind of yes
You already know, about that Ancel!!!! Great affordable Diag Devices!!!!
I used it today to diagnose a Chrysler
Is it me, or is the FX2000 take a long time to navigate with every button push? Takes 5 minutes to get the module and PIDS selected.
I was pretty satisfied with it I didn't have an issue

Nice scanner. Long periods of idling is hard on converters.

It works great
Will that scanner read mode 6 data?
Thanks for doing this BTW.
I'm not sure I'm away from the scanner atm
@@FordBossMe I'll just stick with Forscan until they send you a bi-directional scanner.
Is this the same Cop car with the electric issue?
No that was a 2020
Another way to tell is if your short term fuel trims are so positive the car wants to richen up and poor gas mileage
Is Ancel giving your fans a discount on this model also ?
