  • 2019 Cummins with about 90000 miles and I started loosing coolant. I replaced the reservoir and the coolant level seems to be good now.

Ahh, the magic of YT. “I’m going to show you how to change the overflow tank, (video fades to black). Here it is all done”. Epic fail.

I was watching this for the coolant reservoir and turns out the little nugget of gold was the wire on the turbo hose. Mine is a 19 with 35k miles on it but the wire had rubbed the hose enough that the rubber had come off and some of the wire mesh was starting to show. Now I know if I have turbo issues what the problem will be. Great video. Thanks.

a couple of sacrificial layers of 3m electrical tape may be a cheap and effective repair but zip tie are a good choice too thanks for being thorough and finding that

Good job. Zip ties don't resist all that heat so it will come off. I would have covered the turbo hose with some material and ordered a new one already.

Good God, the new trucks have even more crap covering up the motor than my gen 4. Nice vid. though. Thanks

Next time leave your cap off until all the bubbles clear up and run your heat, usually takes about 15-20 minutes and the reservoir will need to be topped off again.

Exhaust Break will be there til it fails and it will fail. if i had to guess i would say at 140K miles.. when it does grab a new actuator from City Diesel Ram Dealer will want 3k to fix and they use the same shitty one that failed. performance shops charge 300 - 500 less and you think your getting a deal. you can save just over 2k dollars doing yourself. see MotorCity Mechanic on YT. the dude is a genius!
