- Korean War vet Curtis Benham, who was asked by his homeowners association to remove an American flag from his window has received an apology from the HOA and the overwhelming support of his neighbors. KXLY4's Allie Norton reports.
Why would anyone choose to live in an HOA neighborhood? It would be like living under tyranical dictatorship.
I love my freedoms way to much to live in one.
i agree with you, however and UNFORTUNATELY its virtually impossible to find a hoa free home in many states. 99 percent of new residential subdivisions that are been created are managed by a HOA. These homeowners dont have much of a choice and later on regret every penny they spent on that house.
Agreed, it's nearly impossible to find a decent place without an HOA these days.
No i would NOT, we have enough governments taking our money and telling us what to do !
HOAs should be ruled illegal.
A. Hoa president with common human intelligence. Amazing!
Funny how when the media get involved how things change so 💨

It brings the exposure that they are afraid of and it's bad for business.
anywhere that gets made about you flying the countries flag where you live at the people that are offended should be throwing out the country
There probably not even American
Finally an HOA does the right thing!
It will happen again, as long as they don't get caught again
I think that HOA needs to review the Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005.
As for the people saying the flag was displayed improperly/disrespectful, I would point them to United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Section 175(i)...
(i) When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. When displayed in a window, the flag should be displayed in the same way, with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street.
The flag was displayed in the window in the correct orientation.
thats why i dont live in a hoa... i did live in one and when they came on my yard and started with me i went in and came out with my gun, gave warning shot and gave him to get off my land... police came and i won in court... all you have to do is give then notice to not come on your land...
Tbh discharging a live weapon in public for any reason other than self-defense is highly illegal.
Not sure how the court let you win.
@@someoneuppingdudetechnical6320 Self-Defense from an angry mob. That's how.
Good for the HOA director, He did the right thing and apologized sincerely for asking someone not to show patriotism .
Not just that, but also another incident over the US flag occurred in Richmond Virginia, on December of 2009, between an HOA and Colonal Van T. Barfoot
YES someone else mentions it. That HOA got BOTH the Obama administration AND FOX FUCKING NEWS to agree on something. Simpler times.
The HOA in-focus of this UA-cam video did the right thing; timestamp 2:13.
Just don't live in a HOA
HOA apologize that good a enough he sacrificed his life and his country pathetic Americans I'm proud to be an American and I'm proud of his sacrifice
Let fly RAINBOW FLAGS..
I salute him for not backing down. But his neighbors planting a flag flopping on the ground was certainly disrespectful. If you are going to fly a flag, fly it right.
That's improper display of the flag. Look it up. It's wrong to display that flag that way. Now most HOA has a rule as to how window coverings shall be installed. Before you all cuss me out for my post you might want to think it over. I'm a Vet.

how unpatriotic of them to do it even to begin with they live in this country and they should respect it criticizing the American flag in its own country and land is very unpatriotic those HOA have way too much power and I believe the government needs to put a stop to it homeowners should be able to put whatever curtain drape plant or let the kids play wherever they seem fit but at least they apologized since they violated the American flag to begin with very unpatriotic let's just hope it never happens again
What fuckin purpose does an HOA have but to be annoying as shit to the home owner. What the hell are these people paying HOA dues for!?!? to get harassed over every little thing??
Good
CCCPHOA
HOA's should be made illegal at the federal level.
well a proper display of the American flag is hang it from flag pole not hang it from window he sign the agreement i live hoa we just our neighbor hood looking nice not tacky he was paid for his service's these military people think they are better then everyone else they scream i am veteran i thank them for there service
Man knows he isn't supposed to hang the flag that way.
