Today we are going to paint a simple birthday cupcake in watercolor!
Supplies:
Surface: Strathmore watercolor card #140 CP amzn.to/2tGGixT
Watercolors (I am using M Graham but you can use any kind) amzn.to/2t6fjJY Colors: Ultramarine blue, Burnt sienna, Cad Yellow medium, pthalo blue, Quin. Magenta
#10 round synthetic brush amzn.to/2tAI3hm *If you want to use a smaller brush you can, use what is comfortable but a big brush that comes to a fine point is most useful:)
I will have the reference photo on my blog shortly:) However I changed almost everything about the cupcake LOL! So any cupcarke photo is probably fine to go by:) thefrugalcraft...

Sorry this is late Lindsay but I hope the year brings you love, health and peace. I knew you were a moon maiden with those beautiful big, moon eyes, and translucent, porcelain skin of yours. I'm a moon child too, I'll be 65 on the 20th. What I love about watercolor is it's a form of play and I feel if a person never gets too old to play their life is never dull. And they never really grow old. Many happy returns!

Happy Belated Birthday Lindsay! And, as someone that has long passed 40, all I can say is that a woman at 40 is more beautiful, alluring and very comfortable in her skin! Just ask your husband, he knows. By the way, never thought you were anywhere near that age! Your love of life and wonderful personality adds so much 'youth' to you! you're a really really great teacher. Ive been painting for most of my 41 yrs but i've only ever used opaque mediums. recently i decided to try watercolor since my resources are limited and (imo) watercolor is less expensive, less messy and compact lol....It's been VERY hit or miss for me. It's such an alien medium for me. NOTHING like acrylics. I feel like a 12 yr old just learning to draw lol. Anyhow, really great tips on water control. That (or lack thereof) as well as pressure/overworking my paper seem to be my biggest obstacles. And I really appreciate how thorough and clear you are without sounding like you're instructing little kids :) I look forward to spending the day going through your channel. I'm so glad you have portraits in your library too as I'm really a portrait artist mainly.
