I learned a tip about drawing out your flowers or objects before painting. Instead of using pencil and having it show or dealing with erasing, you could use a watercolor pencil very lightly that will blend with your painting when wet. 🙃

Oh, I was going to ask about using a pencil. When the artist described erasing the pencil marks, does she mean after the paint has dried?
I just rec'd a set of watercolor markers & watercolor pad as a gift and this is my first tutorial into how to use this medium. It's beautiful. Thank you for you advice and thank you TanyaLeintz for this engaging and informative tutorial. You're very talented.🌺🎨🌻💧🌸🖼🖌

@@isabellind1292 yes, they mean after the paint has dried. But if you paint over your pencil , it won’t erase nicely. If you have watercolor pencils, use those instead. Then you won’t have to erase at all. It will blend in with your watercolor. I hope this helps. 😊

Same, I just received the Ohuhu package of watercolor pens and I've only ever used Prismacolor and Faber Castell pencil crayons lol. I've been gifted 5 different types of watercolor pencil crayons but I don't think I've ever used them the way another of your v8ds explained them to me. 2 months post your post. Hope that you are doing well and stuff is coming back. I did not have a stroke but a rather big brain 'shake up" where I lost a lot of my stuff. It's all there I just had to relax & not overthink sh*t. You got this. (Painting/drawing had to come from my shoulder/elbow using a brush for quite a while. Not too large. But you've probably zoomed past that already.)

So happy to find this tutorial!!! Thank you! I have this set and I have found ice blue is a wonderful color for glass, as in replicating a glass vase. Artesia also sells four packs of one color if you go through specific colors a lot. I bought the 96 set and I absolutely love mine.
Fyi.... If you take the paint marker back over a wet surface the paint marker actually absorbs the water and the color leaves the brush nib.
Then you have to wait for the color to return. You can blend colors but it's very difficult to add color to a surface that is too wet.

Good info, simply explained and demo'd, I like the one flower didn't turn out so you can show that. Only thing would suggest is to encourage making swatches of the colors. Love this and am going to play!!

Years ago a woman in my watercolor class I attended did beautiful work with the markers . I tried them later and it was disaster! I guess I outlined things. Worth trying again after watching your video.

This is a very helpful video. The vast majority of videos on brush markers only color-swatch and do "calligraphy", which isnt helpful, so thank you for actually teaching me how to use them. I would really like to see you show us more artwork using brush markers.

I've been wanting to get into watercolors, and happened to have just bought a similar set of markers (Sunacme) and this video shows up. I had a brush laying around from painting miniatures lol, and a mixed media pad (98lb/160gsm sheets). After some practice, my rose came out pretty great :D

Bristol paper is perfect for brush markers! You can really work the color out very easily with water and a brush. In other words, you won’t get the ‘outlined’ effect of the Bristol paper!

I bought the brush pens on special but didn't know how to use them. Thanks for showing me. Though the video was too slow. Would've been better if shown first 2 petals then fast forward. Though hints were extremely helpful.

Brand matters. I used canson graduate paper and chromatek 55 ct watercolor pens and they require very little water and no pressure to blend out. it is easy to lose definition and blend everything into 1 solid color. I did the dark centers of the petals and then drew a petal shape with the water brush next to the centers (no touching) and then gently let the pigment flow into the water. I can guide it a little, but if I do too much, it all blends into one color. I can't add details and rewet the paper (i.e. the red purple addition to the purple flower) without ruining the details I already had. Whatever colors I put down have to be right the first time. It's very hard to cover up mistakes because the pigment is strong and stains the paper quickly.

Hi Bonnie! I’m putting together some tutorials using Yupo Paper. It’s a synthetic paper that doesn’t absorb paint, it just needs to evaporate. The look is so lovely!! Thanks for the comment! Stay well!
