I've really been enjoying your recent videos. Best instructional Surf Fishing vids I've seen. Looking forward to the next ones. The vid about three different beaches over three consecutive nights was a great concept. 👍🎣
great tips n advice there Roger. The graphics you have used makes it easier for jo-blow to understand as well. Cheers for sharing...... Getting a tad warmer here on the Northern Beaches, will hit you up soon (a month or two) for a beach worming masterclass.
Thank you i guess i have been doing it ok as im not seeing anything i dont do. I just dont know why i dont get out far enough...but then my rod is smaller than most I built it myself so i use it. Anyhow its still an informative video that i have enjoyed thank you.
Thanks. There are a number of factors that apply to distance casting. In addition to what I discussed in the video is the amount of power that you exert in a cast. Once you have a good casting action you can increase your power more accurately to achieve greater distance.
Thanks Roger. Will give this a try. I just bought a beach rod and my god it was embarrassing trying to use it. I just couldn’t cast. My 1-3kg rod I use for fishing wamberal lagoon goes three times further at the moment 😂 Line was tangling all the time, it was going sideways or straight in front of me😂. Terrible but just watching this made me realise my hands were all wrong and my technique was terrible so I will hopefully improve out of sight next time I walk down to the beach.
@@RogerOsborneFishing thanks. Went down last night and just changing where I hold it has made a massive difference. Amazing what using the technology correctly will do 😂
gday mate good video ,ive used both types of reels in fact i just sold my new penn 950 for a 750 which i match up with my spinfisher ,there is nothing worse than being at the beach and missing that sweet spot and your rig landing in front of you to the howls of laughter from your mates ,mate of mine wants to learn to use a drone to take out his line anyway good video yake care.
Thanks for a great video, I just got a Penn squall 15 what rod you suggest to pair with it,,, I will fish from beach… something can handle a nice long cast… thanks 🙏
The video is helpful and easy to understand for beginners. I have one question hope it has answers. when casting a heavy weight (100-200g leadsinker), at the point of releasing the line just too tight to hold, some times it even cuts my finger, so I can only release earlier the "sweet point" which makes the cast not that good.
Hi Mike, sorry for the slow reply. Yes, when you are casting a heavy bait and sinker it puts a lot more pressure on your finger holding the line. Usually you would use a heavier breaking strain line which is thicker and easier on your fingers. When casting heavier baits distance is less of a focus.
I have a ten foot penn , I have 65lb braid on it I’ve used it a couple times and I really don’t cast far . When I’m casting I use a Carolina rig with 4oz weight. Is my line to heave ??? Please help
I buy 7ft rod capacity of 4kg and reel 3000. And 30lbs braid line. I am new fishing addict let mi know if that rod and reel i buy is good enough for tailor and salmon
Hi Ryan, the rod that you have purchased would be better for lake fishing or perhaps Whiting off the beach fishing close to the edge. If you are wanting to target Salmon and Tailor etc you would be best with a medium taper rod of at least 10ft with a 4000 reel and 8kg line. Remember, you would need to use a heavier trace for Tailor or Ganged Hooks. Roger

Hi mate just wondering what lb leader I should use if casting a full chicken out for bait?
Baked, Fried or Fresh?, if fresh with or without feathers?
Hi Roger currently I'm using some ordinary fishing reel but I'm not satisfied kindly advise me which company reel is good for sea fishing
PENN for spinning reels, ABU for baitcasters, ALVEY for sidecasts
@@fkucutube Thank bro
Does a headwind change your release point?
Hi Ronald, I would think that you would make a lower, flatter cast. More power, later release.

Hi James, yes your line is too heavy. 30lb braid would be plenty for off the beach.
