- A full tutorial on my favorite gameplay loop in ECO, Farming!
The first half we talk about the basics of the profession, picking locations and basics of being the server farmer.
Then I do a server tour of my farming set up to give an example of one way of setting up farm plots in key locations.

This tutorial seems very centered for Low Collaboration. A lot of points were logical on the skill tree progression but being self sufficient may set you up for failure on high collaboration servers. There's nothing wrong with having skills that feed into one another but economically you must know that you are in fact driving players away from your goods if you go down that path. If you grow your own food you may not have a need to buy your own food or buy anything else in that matter. If you want to be the one doing the farming and harvesting the crops, stick to being a gatherer and actually buy seeds of of a farmer and fertilizer of of the fertilizing person. The more you buy from others the better the economy will be for your store and that's where you make sales. again the tutorial is great but the skill acquisition described in the beginning is a big no no in high Collab servers. Regardless of this important detail, this tutorial is very clear and understandable, well done!
Absolutely, depending on the population of your server as well. If you only have half a dozen people versus 20-30. Thank you for sharing this.
thank you SO much for this video because I have been farming in ECO for a good while now, and despite my experience, people keep insisting the way im placing my farms and how im doing things is "not how that works" or "inefficient" (despite them all not being farmers or every playing as one) but since its still fairly difficult to find any concrete information to put in their faces about things, its been annoying trying to explain to them why they are wrong xD gonna send them your video so they know im not pullin this stuff out me butt

@@bossladyb_love Personally I like Forest biome because I love snacking on a lot of Hucklberries when I'm running around everwhere xD ive got a nice set up rn and have beets, corn, mushrooms, flax, beans, tomatoes, and huckberries, all with a good sized perfect conditions, surrounding my base xD I'm the only farmer in the server, so its been nice to have it close by lol. My only issue is i use a lot of wood to make flat areas because im between 2 mountains Dx its worth it tho. U can't beat having SEVEN good crop yeild areas all relatively close by, all for the low low price of taking a while to make flat area and good biomes close(ish) too!

there's actually a ton of videos out there... the issue is many of them NEED updated to account for the in-game updates...
Just listened through your video while playing. I started with Logging, then took Gathering, then Farming. I'll take Fertilisers next. I have planted a large farm and all my seeds. A bunch have died. The rest are growing pretty slowly. Im going to need to rewatch a bit closer and learn to do it the right way. I am about to do a massive foraging session, but i think ill need our cook to tell me specifically what crops they need from me.
hello love the video ive played 2 cycles on vanilla and it was a lot of fun , i did logging for my first run and then farmer for my second run , i wish the tractor tool that plowed the floor was wider cause it takes so much time going back and forth on that. im gonna give mining a try for my next run.
Agreed, I wish it plowed more as well. For as much as it takes to get it would be great if either it moved faster or affected a larger range.
How does vertical farming effect the soils? Are soils calculated per square or column of squares?
That's an excellent question, haven't tried it but i'll test it out and let you know!
Unless they've changed it, vertical farming counts it all on the same plot.
So it's more efficient use of land, but also drains the plot faster so you'll need to apply fertilizers more often.
it's per square from bottom to top... one squre 5 by 5 with no vertical limits what so ever from my experiance

how do you get so many plots to claim with? in the server I play in I only get 16 plots with my claim so my farming's pretty limited specially since I still have a house that takes up a good portion of it.
We founded a town and at the time had a decent amount of citizens so we used the public claims to claim farm lands.
yea unless you found an actual town you will NOT have claims for all the plots period. ya just gonna have to trust people to leave your crops be. Wich is the only major draw back to how claims works now. That said i understand why they changed it that way cus previously poeple did on day one look at the yeild map for diffirent things and premtivly claimed plots all over the place. Especially aspiering future oil barons -_-

Hi Bosslady. I wanna ask you something - i need some flax and i have read that i can harvest flax and when i see it on my map i can´t harvest flax. So what can i do i really need it in my game.... Hope you can help me Booslady. ❤ i love this game and one thing for sure - danm time is flying so fast omg. 🤣🤣
Are you using a sickle? That was my issue, I kept using a stupid machete!
That's a great point, you might have a seed that doesn't have much flax on it. Or maybe if you're playing with others maybe people have already harvested it all.

In that case you may have gotten a seed with a bad spawn rate of flax. I would go to areas where it could spawn and clear all vegetation with the machete. This will give the game a chance to respawn flax. We've had to do this for corn or other crops in the past.
I'm glad I picked up farming and not the wife, she hates math lol
