Today were upgrading my Ariel Rider X-Class 52v with my favorite cheap upgrade. I'm going to be changing out the old throttle with a new full twist throttle and grips. This has made the bike much more comfortable and a more enjoyable ride. Helping with hand fatigue and throttle control while riding. This is one of the easiest DIY upgrades you can do to improve your bikes performance and for only $20 its one of the cheapest as well. In this video I'll show you exactly how to install the new throttle and tell you my feelings on it. I used to HATE the half twist throttle but I found this way of using the portion between my thumb and index finger on the half twist while my fingers are on the brake lever, and I’m able to regulate the speed BEAUTIFULLY now!
I couldn’t do that while using a full twist as my fingers would be on the throttle more I imagine and it wouldn’t be as safe
I have really big hands so honestly I never felt like I had a super secure grip on the half throttle. I rode it with that for 700 miles so it works fine but I’m way more happy with the full twist. You can grip your hand around the whole throttle and get much more control in my opinion. It’s also much easier to move your hands or fingers around while still keeping the bike accelerating

I installed it ,but I didn’t feel any throttle faster responding! I wonder why ? It’s still like 1/2sec delay
The throttle only will help so much. It makes it easier to get to full speed since you don’t have to turn the throttle far to get full power. But the delay is something that’s programmed into the controller. I know the older model X-Class’s have a pretty noticeable delay. Mine that I bought this year doesn’t really have one.
Do you know if you can change the grip on the throttle?
I haven’t tried to take it off and change it out but you should be able to. It may be a bit hard to slide on a grip on the throttle since there’s a hard plastic piece that the grip is attached too. But if you order grips that are specifically designed for a throttle I’d see no issue doing that. It may be a bit of a pain getting it slid on properly but with some soapy water you should be able too.

The link is for the Ariel rider one but when they run out of stock it goes to the SM throttle option. When they go back in stock you should be able to see WP plug version which is the kind you need
Your link goes to the old school SM plug not the waterproof barrel plug. Better check it. Unless people want to solder the wires to the barrel plug of the old throttle.

What handlebars are those and is that a 6 inch rise?
Not sure what the exact rise on these bars are but they aren’t super tall. Here’s my Amazon link for the bars I have. amzn.to/43FpCGh but in order to use those bars or any other 22mm bar you have to get a new stem. The stock adjustable one won’t work. I really disagree with a full twist throttle. That is a whiskey waiting to happen.
You definitely have to be more mindful of how you are on the throttle but it’s extremely helpful in many situations. There’s a reason it’s what regular motorcycles use!
@@MeedersPEVS I hear you, but regular motorcycles aren't on paths/trails, or sidewalks, or being lifted and moved around as often as ebikes. I just rather have something I can hold onto like a half grip without worrying about accidentally turning it and sending 70+lbs of bike towards something/someone.
That’s fair. I think that it’s up to personal preference. You definitely have to be more mindful with the full twist throttle!
@@MeedersPEVSit's just if you plan on walking the bike around while parking moving whatever make sure the power is off. But I'm sure sooner or later you will accidentally launch the bike while moving it, been there done that
Agreed. Half twist throttle is perfect as is. I want to be able to grip firmly on the right grip while going over bumpy terrain without hitting the throttle. Full twist makes it less safe

Where are the cops when you're running stop signs. Ebike riders are subject to the same laws as automobiles. You're straight up advocating to your viewers that its cool and alright. Where's your integrity kid?
I understand and when it’s needed I will always stop at the lights and stop signs but I live in a small town. Nobody is on the side streets that I go though the stop signs and I’m able to see up the street before going through. Yes traffic laws are meant to be followed but it’s not necessary to full stop at every single stop around.
