Dyno Test - Mustang Ecoboost with Ford Performance Tune - Send It Take 2...The Real Numbers

  • In this video I take my car back to Wild Pony Motor Sports in Santa Clarita, CA to get my Dyno Testing baseline numbers redone. I brought my car here a few months back and didn't realize, until after the fact, that the pulls were supposed to be done in 7th gear instead of 5th. I also was made aware afterwards about the "Dyno Plug" near the Air Box in the engine bay that needs to be disconnected. We made these corrections and ran in Track Mode for the pulls to get the results that you see in the video. The temp last time was very high, over 100 deg F, but we were able to get 315.9 hp and 358.8 tq in 5th gear. This time the numbers were very similar, and this was done without race gas in the car as there was last time. My new numbers are 315.9 hp and 398.5 tq in 7th gear, an increase of 40 tq. We tried a second pull, but the caution light for the Engine Temps came on and stopped the pull before reaching max power.
    I want to thank Darrin over at Wild Pony Motorsports for redoing my dyno test and giving me some advice on how to get the temps down. I do plan on eventually getting a big turbo and a Pro Tune so I want to use these numbers to see the gains for the future mods that I have planned.

    Outstanding results! I'll be really happy if my '18 EBPP-A10 puts 300+ to the wheels. Mine made 262hp/312tq stone stock. FP tune and and a big IC will help, but I won't know if it will get me to 300 until some cool days return.

      Should be close to 300 whp. The dyno I was on may read a little high, but I went there twice and got the same results. Now I am Tuned on E30 Maki g close to 370 whp.

      @johnr3734 I was running the E30 Tune from PD. I am not blaming them for this issue, however. It is due to the poor design of the engine and the stress that I put it through at the race track. The thin walled aluminum block and head just can't handle that much heat. That us why I am not racing right now. I am waiting until I can afford to swap out the block and get my large turbo kit before I get back into it.

    Unless I'm missing something that's about 65 hp over the best stock numbers and that means about 30 more hp then ford claims the performance calibration produces, on the other hand you seem to have gotten about 25lbs less torque then that tune claims. Did you have other mods on the care that might of affected the outcome, I'm guessing not front mount since it overheated.

      No problems so far. How many miles do you have on the car so far? This tune is really mild. You will not really feel a difference until you add in some higher octane fuel. Since we only have 91 here, I would recommend waiting until your warranty is up and getting a cobb for a pro tune. This will save you the $450 to put towards the cobb. It really all depends on what you are trying to do and if you really care about the warranty. If you have the extended warranty then I would say get the FP Tune.

    I think I figured out how to lower the heat in the engine bay. A turbo blanket. Plus they say you get your torque earlier in the rpm range with it on. So less turbo lag with a blanket. ua-cam.com/video/SoqkcO3gKa4/v-deo.html. Then you can do a similar video like this. A turbo can get up to 700° or more. Crazy. And it was under 200° with a blanket

      @mustangmodsecoboostgarage6539  4 роки тому +1

      Good video. I had heard of a lot of people wrapping g their downpipe and using a blanket on the turbine, thought it would not help that much. I will definitely try this same test to see how it helps on our cars. Now, I just need to find a good inexpensice turbo blanket. Some are in the $200 range.

    • @mustangmodsecoboostgarage6539
      @mustangmodsecoboostgarage6539  4 роки тому

      So after some more research it seems that there are not any generic T3 Turbo Blankets that fit very well on our Turbo. A few companies make a split version that is custom made to fit these cars, but it is about $200. The PTP seems to be the best option.

      I also read a few forums about this topic and discovered that many people have said that decreased engine temps are achieved for sure, but I could not find any evidence of actual gains (hp/tq or faster spool times) backed with actual data, only speculation. The theory sounds good and I am willing to try for sure, but may wait to see if I can find a cheaper option.

      @@mustangmodsecoboostgarage6539 I've thought about a turbo blanket too, but for $200 I'd be making my own, cause I'm cheap. Also, I'd be concerned about retaing all that heat, in the turbo. Can the materials, in the stock turbo, take the heat retention? When you did this latest dyno session, did you have fans blowing on your radiator and intercooler? In as far as the heat and your dyno numbers, it shouldn't matter much, if your dyno operator is applying a correction factor. I thought I saw STD on your last dyno chart, which is a correction factor. 315 HP is in the ball park , for the Ford tune, with an air filter and intercooler. 398 torque is, I think, the highest number I've seen for your combo.
