  • I'll dyno the stock car in all the performance modes, Sport, Sport Plus, Track, etc. Then I'll run it on the dyno with the typical type streetable mods, Intake, Cat back Exhaust, Intercooler and a mild 91 octane tune.

Sorry about the bad transition at around 23 to 24 mins. It only lasts a few seconds so I just left it in there. This video isn't my normal format so I'm learning to do new things here.

Absolutely a great video! Thank you for the kind words sir. I'm really blessed to have DV as a friend and mentor. Your Dyno results on hot lapping the Ecoboost is a direct comparison of what we witnessed at the Dragstrip. Big power loss!

As an old (age 79) armchair racer in both road and drag strip environments (strictly amateur), I was especially pleased to see you make the distinction(s) between the V8 and 4-cylinder Mustangs in terms of drag strip performance versus track performance. While I did reasonably well at the drag strip half a century ago, I always enjoyed a road race more, and if I were a customer (I'm not), I'd be more interested in mods that would improve road and track performance over mods directed more heavily toward the drag strip. Just personal opinion.

The upgraded inter cooler works well.

Sounds like an intercooler, free flow exhaust, and a tune would make massive improvements. The Heat soak in the intercooler affect performance a lot. Again Ford building a product that is inferior right out of the gate. They had to have known the intercooler was not big enough to even keep the core temp stable. I would even go as far as to say they just care about cost and not the emissions because the extra fuel ya need to throw at it when the cylinder temps creep show they are not targeting emissions, just cost to build and how much money they make off the customer in the end.

  • @randyhavard6084

I'm glad you are able to put out great videos on the stuff you and many of us have a real passion for learning about. Thanks Greg

  • @lewiswestfall2687

    Thanks Greg

  • @elliott959

Another thing is the ecoboost mustang is going to have a lot less weight up on the nose which will help with handling. I know Randy Pobst is a fan of the 4cyl camaro for the same reason

  • @bassplayersayer

    @dgax65  +1

I mostly watch the historic warbird and DCS videos. I've only seen a few of the automotive videos since I found your channel. I'm not a car guy, but I do like the way you use well-researched, data-driven analysis for whatever subject you choose to tackle. Also surprised to see you on camera for once. Keep up the great work.

  • @DavidVizard

Greg, - my totally unbiased comment here is - really great stuff!!

  • @eeee3202

Thank you for this video! I really want a 5.0 but it's just too expensive in this market. I added a Stage 1 Cobb which wakes the car up. But definitely going to take the next step into intercoolers and pro-tunes.

  • @MikeGazdik-lx4tz

Sir, you are fantastic! I have watched your historical videos on WWII aircraft for years. Somehow stumbled on this video. Tou mentioned other channels, to which I subscribe. Building a nice 351C now. Drive on!
