I Just did this 5 minute ago. It sucked ass lol. But this video is decent and as mentioned before you don’t have to take the keypad off like in the video. You can leave it connected to the door handle and just take the lock cylinder out
I didn't think he had to take it out and yep 4:28, broke that sucker right off. It will never snap back in now and will be a constant rattle inside the door or fall inside the door everytime you try to press the buttons
I'm changing mine on back passenger door and there's no need to mess with outside handle at all. Just 3 screws that hold the whole mechanism in and 2 plugs to unplug
Is the actuator the part that allows the radio to shut off when you open the door and lets the dome light comes on? That’s the issue I’m having. Wish I could fix it.
My 04 f150 drivers side lock will only work from the passenger side switch then the drivers side unlock its self almost immediately? Drivers side switch doesn't work either so I replaced the switch still doesn't work.
I have a parasitic drain on my battery from somewhere downstream of the power door lock fuse... Was thinking of replacing actuators to see if they were the problem, but holy cow that’s a lot of effort to get to them.
Looks like you could just take out the 3 screws on the latch and unhook the rods and the connector for the actuator and not mess with the outside handle or keypad.

Does anyone truck stay power on with no key !??? My windows pull power n radio too , I removed the radio n it stil door stays power on n drain my battery
So I replaced my door lock switch and door lock acuator because my drivers side switch will not lock the drivers side door. My key fob and passenger side switch will lock the door. The drivers side switch will unlock but not lock...? I bought a dorman lock acuator and when I reinstalled it it did not lock into place.
I had the same issue with my actuator when I put it in it had play in it. To fix this problem I drilled a tiny hole through the clip into the housing to keep it from moving. I did get it working. A two hr job became a all day job, the days not long when it gets dark at 5pm.

on my 2006 lariat which is the same i didnt have to pry off the lower plug (scratch the plate panel) to get the handle out.
Did anyone notice he broke the clip off from the keypad taking it out. I left mine in no need to take it out changing an actuator.
Before taking the door apart, is there a way to test to be sure the actuator is bad and the problem isn't somewhere else?

Do an unplug it test

Is this the same procedure for the door switch that triggers the door ajar alarm?
