To answer the Chris Rock question ...very simple generate box office receipts and you get "paid" and possibly nominated for an award ...Why don't the women who play in the WNBA make as much as the men who play in the NBA? Why don't they get movie deals? or huge multi-million dollar advertising contracts?

Atleast in US a black comedian can 'roast' Hollywood for being racist and they can laugh over themselves. In India, Upper Castes (majority of them) don't even acknowledge the horrendous torture inflicted upon lower castes every single day - sometimes physical but almost always psychological.

A comedians job is to be controversial. Chris hit the nail right on the head with this monologue. It made people think, it got a rise out of them, made them uncomfortable, might've even pissed some of them off. In fact it did, it was even on the news and its everywhere on youtube that people were tweeting about feeling uncomfortable. Nowadays people get offended way to easily. Its ridiculous. Great job by Chris Rock.

@@mrit4099 This was before the elections, and the Oscars controversy provided enough material for this monologue. As for your answer, the Oscars have never been dependent on box office results. It's very well-known that flops are often nominated over actual hits. Even so, it ain't that simple to generate box office receipts when you're not given the opportunity to begin with. Take the most dominant genre in cinema today: superhero movies. It's not a level playing field when you're required to cast a white actor for iconic characters like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, etc... In terms of male leads alone; Blade, Hancock, & Black Panther are each a decade apart. Hell, Shang-Chi has yet to hit theaters.
