  • We took a short 4 night cruise on the Holland America Eurodam so see what this cruise line is all about. At first glance this is not at the top of our list but definitely worth trying again.
    If you've sailed on the Eurodam, how was your experience?

    Different things are important to different people when it comes to cruising. I'm a foodie and look forward to the dining experiences. What is most important to you?

    Not sure if anyone mentioned this or not, but HAL still has 24 hour included room service, so if you want a snack at 10:30 AM or 2:30 AM, that is always an option. it is also fairly fast and always was hot, so something to consider. Also, you can order breakfast to your room using the hang tags from your steward. We would regularly sleep in and just get breakfast delivered at 10 AM on sea days.

    We were on Eurodam for Panama Canal. We enjoyed Tamarind so much. We went back four times. A little secret: the Tamarind bar is so quiet, you can actually sit there and read when the Crows nest is too busy.

    We love Holland. We have only been on the Pinnacle ships so far, but we have a couple cruises on the smaller ships coming up. For embarcation - as far as food, the buffet may be the only thing open, but we always go to the Ocean Bar and hang out for a bit until the rooms are ready and then get something to eat. Just holding off a bit helps.
    There is always food available, though I understand what you mean about the buffet gap (we felt the same way with Royal). Room service is always available. The Explorations Cafe should also always be open (at least until midnight). On Pinnacle, there is also the Dutch Cafe that is open all day. Dive-in is open from lunch to 6.

    the dining room is open for breakfast every morning. We recently did a 12 day cruise and went to the dining room every day including port days.

      Breakfast they are open every day but lunch is only on sea days (which is typical) but it would've been nice to be open on embarkation day.

    We are going on the Eurodam this month. We choose Holland America for the food. Plain and simple.

    With respect to the Dive-In restaurant, rather than waiting in line for your order, you can place your order through your phone app. They’ll notify you when it’s ready!

      We noticed guests were having alot of trouble with that. Their orders didn't got through etc. Maybe it was just an off day with the app.

    I was on her 5-13-23 to Alaska solo for my 73rd BD. The main thing I had was the steak at the Pinnical grill. It was tough and overcooked. Ordered it Medium rare and it was closer to medium well. Waiter comped it and brought me a birthday cake . I took care of him.😏

      It's always nice when they rectify the issue. Things happen and we shouldn't anticipate for perfection. When they work hard to make it right, that's all I can hope for.😊

    Not into alcohol but definitely a coffaholic. What drink package do you recommend? Will be cruising in May. Thanks.

      @DestinedJourney  14 днів тому +1

      We drink both! Coffee, fancy bottled water, and alcohol. The basic package up to $10 covered everything. I do believe they have a non alcoholic as well. 😉

    HAL offers more traditional cruising experience than other premium cruise lines with the exception of Princess. The food quality seems to be more elevated. The HAL ships are decorated flawlessly. Beautiful art throughout the ships. Perhaps a slightly more mature demographic, but younger people as well. Definitely fewer children thank other cruise lines. Definitely NOT a 6k passenger amusement park. A great option if you're looking for a more relaxing cruise.

      @@georgeb777 The Eurodam was beautiful! We thought much more so than we could tell from UA-cam videos prior to sailing. Happy Cruising!
