Would you use this window? Oh and if you have any theories why they didn't remove the ash trays... let me know. ❤😇
Oops, I made a mistake in this video, I said my cabin cost £809pp but that's not right, my cabin was £709pp and my parents balcony was £809pp. BARGAIN! (That's why I took a transatlantic in January but it isn't something I'll be doing again). 🤢⚓

PADDLING POOL - 'Planschbecken' in German 😁. A bath 🛀 or shower 🚿 may turn into a 'Planschbecken', but the Atlantic Ocean definitely isn't one. 🌊 🛳️

I saw on another video that aeroplanes retained their ashtrays. This is because even though people aren’t supposed to smoke on flights they DO sometimes still light up & then if there is no ashtray they tend to stuff the cigarette into the waste paper holder which in turn causes fire. So ashtray’s were left on for safety. not the same thing here as what you showed was a soap 🧼 dish, but I thoughtan interesting titbit anyway 😊
      Paddling pool 😊

I think they just left the ash try because it would look bad with something not there or with just a patch over where it was, and the cost of remodeling one part isn't worth it when they might as well as remodel the whole cabin for a full finished look.

I've done 10 crossings on QM2, and love the ship (obviously)! I got an "Atrium View" cabin just one time, paying much more for it than you did, and decided than it was not worth it. I travel by myself, so an inside cabin makes the most sense. I have NEVER had the problem of staff moving beds, after they know my preference, though they've missed my advance request of "beds apart" a number of times. The steward always fixed this quickly.

Hi Emma, I've stayed in this QM2 cabin grade twice and I like it. It's a good compromise and good value. It's always windy on a Trans, even in August, so a balcony is a unnecessary expense in my mind. There is also nothing to see each day, apart from sea. I used to hate sea days, but as I've got older, I've learnt to relax and enjoy them. Unfortunately, the North Atlantic, is often rough, hence why the QM2 is so big and strong. Even her lifeboats are mounted higher than normal, so the waves don't break them! There's a breakwater on her bow, so the waves don't smash the bridge. She's definitely the most stable ship afloat, but they all move in a storm. Recently the Queen Anne arrived in NY 24 hours late, but she's not a REAL ocean liner.
I was on QM" in November last year and a crew member told me that she had a broken stabilizer (1 of 2). I wonder if it was fixed? I don't think she could achieve full power because of an engine issue. We arrive in NY a few hours late which her design was meant to prevent (if all systems worked as they should). One never knows what goes on behind the scenes! 😉

I was on this crossing with you and also got pretty seasick on day 3, although I got my sealegs after that. Carnival has offered me a few “upgrades”. Their idea of an upgrade is moving from deck 6 or 7 to deck 9. Same sized balcony room, just closer to the action, so they say. What I think it really means is they can’t sell the cabins right under the buffet area where you can hear carts rolling across the floor all the time so they try to manipulate you into thinking it’s an upgrade.

  • @markeaston7353

  • @markomarten

You can be pretty sure QM2 is a safe ship, the thing that really surprised me was being at Southampton and seeing the QM2 signs it made me realise how lucky I was to be doing a cruise on her. I wonder if QM2 will be fitted in for a refurbishment once Queen Anne has been in service for a year or so and is capable of doing the same sort of routes as QM2. For me the food was something to really enjoy, especially the lamb! I allowed myself a cocktail on there and it was amazing as I hadn’t had any alcohol for months due to training for a Triathlon. It made me realise I was very lucky indeed.
I realise not everyone likes long cruises but the shorter European ones can be good, you can go to Amsterdam with Cunard or Hamburg, well recommended.

Hint: if you and your brother stay in this type of cabin before, push the two nightstands together for more room between the beds. Finally, Cunard is doing away with the themed nights in April. That's so interesting to me that Cunard provides washcloths! I once saw on a travel forum some Americans asking why none of the British hotels they stayed at provided them, and the Brits were all "eww I would never use a flannel other than my own" 😮 The Americans were confused as they were like "but they're laundered and clean" 🤔 but it didn't seem to matter. Yeah if traveling with a bigger group and they have a balcony,I would be up for an interior room plus you said the weather was bad anyway. I have never had an interior room I wouldn’t mind if a short cruise 3-4 days but longer I want a balcony I always set out there in the morning and night before bed I enjoy tremendously, I need to see that natural light too. But I’m down to trying an interior.

I have only seen and experienced
    inside windowed cabins
    on Baltic ferries
    like those between
    Kiel and Oslo
    Helsinki and Stockholm
    and Tallinn and Stockholm
I believe the modern cruise liners
took their inspiration from these ferries
    the central space etc.
I found them okay for the one night
    we were on it
and it was interesting to people watch
down below but those ships are smaller.
Did they charge more for a windowed cabin?

I still feel like I would rather cruise across the ocean than fly lol Being stuck in a metal tube for 12 hours with little to no leg room, vs being on a big ass boat where you can lay down on an actual bed if you want to or need to. Not to mention, if you don't get sea sick as easy, there are things to do on the boat on your journey. Although maybe do look into the seasons of calmer seas before booking your cruise lol This is how I intend to visit the UK, and the rest of Europe if I can ever make enough money :p Get dropped off in the UK and visit with some friends I've made online over the last 5 years for a few days, then go explore Europe :)

Have you ever tried the Transderm Scop seasick patches? They are prescription, and work amazingly well with no side effects (at least for me)

I've taken a couple of North Atlantic cruises in January, but they were on a submarine courtesy of the Navy and the weather was almost always bad. On one particularly memorable week we were taking constant 15-30 degree rolls and had to tape ourselves into our bunks. No fancy dress, though...

I thought this was going to be similar to the Royal Caribbean promenade vuew but it's nothing like it. On the RC prom view you have a full bay window with a window seat so you really can sit and watch life go by. This window looks a bit pointless.

They really should put some kind of one way mirror or other privacy screen on those windows then you could have the light and view without worry of being seen or seeing somebody else at the wrong moment.

Your cablin look really nice and I appreciate the upside down sockets, but the slow drain in the shower would be a tad irritating to be standing in water like a PADDLING POOL. I think I would use the window but with the blinds only partly open. I love Gin-Gin chews and they are a fantastic ginger helper for a queasy stomach. As far as fresh air is there a way to have access to some after they close the decks off or would bringing a fan (if you are allowed) be your best option for this situation?

    • @EmmaCruises
      @EmmaCruises  День тому

Ha ha, love it. They're SOOOO strong those things, burnt my mouth ha ha. You usually can bring a small fan, but yeah if you've got an inside cabin and the outside decks are closed you can't get any fresh air normally. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼

I want to make a crossing on an ocean liner at least once. But I want it to be a real crossing. Meaning, I'm going to the UK for a vacation or work after the crossing. I don't want to cross on the ship then immediately fly back (or vice versa).
