I'm a frequent HAL cruiser. Thanks for your video. I love cruising and truly enjoy the Rolling Stone Lounge. So much happy entertaining. I just bought a new ORANGE blouse for my next orange 🥳 party.
favourite tip, take advantage of breakfast in your room, we always order the night before for the earliest delivery slot, normally around 6am and then enjoy the docking from our balcony. Then if you have an excursion booked you are well fed before leaving.
Our first cruise was with HAL so did not know about laundry and there was 2 dining times in the main dining room at that time(2004). We always get the laundry package, my tip would be that if you use the service to bring clean laundry home, if you are checking bags, bring a plastic bag large enough to put your clothes in and dryer sheet(s) to pop in with your clothes to give it that fresh laundered scent rather than the smoky jet exhaust smell that seems to be able to penetrate suitcases. We still prefer HAL for the dining experience than other cruise lines. If having breakfast in the main dining room, they have different nationalities’ breakfast plates offered such as Japanese, Dutch, etc. We are not big on the amusement park cruise ships as we usually are ready to decompress but also enjoy the opportunity to see something of the world at the same time.

We took advantage of the laundry package, loved it! Another thing that was very important too me was the gluten free menu in the main dining room. When dining, let them know you are gluten free and they will bring you a menu for the next day to select from. They were very accommodating. Orange party was a blast! I think my favorite night time entertainment was Billboard on Board (piano bar). Lots of fun!
I’ve been cruising with Holland America since 2016 and my 1st four was with my mom who introduced me to cruising. Sadly my mom passed away in 2020 and ever since I’ve been cruising by myself and enjoying it. I like doing the got to have it all package because it comes with free Wi-Fi, a beverage package, $100-$200 in shore excursion credit and 1 or 2 speciality dining. And sometimes with pre-paid crew appreciation. What I like about Holland America is that it has Billboard onboard and Rolling Stone Rock room.

Just came across your video. We are loyal to HAL and getting set to sail to Hawaii for 18 days on the Konningsdam. We have found the Neptune Suite to be our favorite and now only book in that category. Laundry is a plus especially on 18 day trips. Less packing of clothing and dry cleaning worries taken care of. We did this for our 14 day Panama Canal trip also. Tea time.. I was just going over the Daily Planner for our trip starting on 28 Jan 2025. Anyway I discovered numerous tea events on our sailing. We have a Victorian, Royal Dutch, English, French, Cup Cake!, Indonesian and Afternoon Tea Times. Never have I seen so many tea’s and the variety of them. Can’t wait to see what Cup Cake tea time is.. Grand Dutch Cafe is our favorite and sad it’s only on Pinnacle Class Ships. Thanks for sharing your tips and safe sailings.
Yes, this will be our first cruise on Holland America. Our cruise leaves Singapore , stops at Bangkok, Thailand 2, Cambodia, and Vietnam. We have to fly into Singapore, 2 days before. We will have a 13 day cruise. Can’t wait to go.

If you have (minimum) 100 shares of stock in Carnival Corporation, then you get extra onboard money, amount varies based on cruise length. Our 14 day got us $250, while 7 days was $100. Best part is not limited to only one sailing, so if you had two or more cruises in the year, get your money.

This is our first cruise with Holland America. Dec. 22, 2024 to Jan. 4, 2024. We will be stopping in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. We flew in to Singapore a few days before our cruise. Can’t wait.
I binged watched SOOOO Many of your videos before my last cruise and they were Extremely Helpful and Fun!! I purchased so many things from your Amazon store and the links in your videos and they were All so helpful on my cruise! Thank you! 💗In a few months I am going on my first Holland American cruise. From all the videos I have watched it so far, the cabin doors have no decorations on the hallway side. Is that a rule or are the outside of the doors not magnetic? I put up duplicate magnets incase a hallway neighbor would like one and I have a banner (magnetic) that lets me know This is my Stop at the end of the evening. I was SO happy to see you posting a video for Holland America!!
I’m So sorry I missed this! I’m so glad the videos were helpful for you. I’m not quite sure about the state room magnets on the hallway side. That is such a good question and I’ll have to research this.
A few tips that you did not mention .... 1) If you are going to book a Veranda room (balcony), you should check if you can still purchase the Club Orange package. If it is, you can book an obstructed veranda room and then immediately upgrade to any available Veranda. Since we look for VC and above rooms, this generally saves us money and gives us a few nice perks. 2) You did not mention the Have It All package. If you are thinking about a drink package, the HIA gives you that plus: Internet, Specialty Dining and shore excursion credit. 3) If you plan ahead (like me), the HIA package also includes Gratuities. 4) Book your next cruise while on your current cruise. For us the deposit has always been refundable AND you get some extra OBC. For us, it is a low-risk way to have some extra OBC if we take that cruise..
On our last HAL cruise in June all of our excursion tickets were electronic, really nice. I just wish we didn’t have to sign a receipt for all our drinks and we even had the drink package.
Holland America also has special guests on board like a geologist when we went to Iceland and an expert on Alaska was on board on our Alaskan cruise who gave us the national park stamp. Also Holland America always has a Catholic priest on board so you can go to daily Mass. He cares for all on board and says Mass for the crew after hours.

We just went to Alaska in May for our first cruise ever and the Cake Me Away was listed in the daily planner. Enjoy your cruise! Alaska is amazing and Holland was wonderful!
That’s a great question. Yes I do believe I saw it in the newsletter. We didn’t go because we’re not big sugar eaters but it looks so fun. The orange party usually varies a little bit. I’ll have to check back at my newsletters to see if I can figure it out.
My last three cruises I added Club Orange. For us it’s well worth it. No waiting in line for dinner, just walk straight to the club orange desk, and usually seated in a minute. One of our ships had the exclusive club orange dining room. Next is priority tendering, skip the long line on tender only ports. With club orange, free cabin upgrades or if you’re already at the top, cash back. Also I agree that the laundry package is the best for keeping my wife happy. Our next cruise (Mediterranean) will be In a Neptune suite, so we get automatic club orange and laundry package.
Our first Holland America cruise is on Oosterdam to South America, The Falklands and Antarctica. As we are flying from the UK we investigated the cost of additional luggage on the flight and it was so expensive it was a no brainer to get the Laundry package with the added bonus of having most of our dirty washing cleaned before we leave for home. Holland America looks amazing the only thing that irritates me is the crew appreciation being from the UK tipping is not in our culture so to us the daily cost of tips is so expensive nad that does not cover everything when you by drinks from the bar, speciality dining etc. there is an additional 18% charge for tips it is really annoying
My husband and I did that same trip at the start of this year and came home to Ireland transatlantic with MSC, amazing trip. Be sure to bring your wolly hat and scarve for the Faulklands, it's beautiful but freezing!
Too many tips to deal with. I'll stick with Viking where i get WI-FI, beer & wine, specialty dining, excursions and more at no extra cost. Add up all the HAL extras and Viking is a much better value-fewer obese people too.

Holland America looks amazing the only thing that irritates me is the crew appreciation being from the UK tipping is not in our culture so to us the daily cost of tips is so expensive nad that does not cover everything when you by drinks from the bar, speciality dining etc. there is an additional 18% charge for tips it is really annoying
My husband and I did that same trip at the start of this year and came home to Ireland transatlantic with MSC, amazing trip. Be sure to bring your wolly hat and scarve for the Faulklands, it's beautiful but freezing!
Too many tips to deal with. I'll stick with Viking where i get WI-FI, beer & wine, specialty dining, excursions and more at no extra cost. Add up all the HAL extras and Viking is a much better value-fewer obese people too.
