Until 15 minutes ago I thought I’m ok with basic color grading but after seeing only 2 of your videos I’m totally committed to learning more in Resolve. Your videos are amazingly detailed and well explained. Thanks!
I must say your tutorials are simply awesome. You make them so easy to follow and you explain things so well. Thank you sir for the great work and hope to see many more.
You are for me the best teacher I saw on UA-cam. Please go on with these wonderful tutorials. The white balance part in this video is the very best tool I saw in a year being busy with DVR. All the best!
So in your white balance node, you balance the whites with the offset, but then you adjust the gamma. Now judging by your scopes it looks like that white is coming in a little blue now. Is balancing the whites just a starting point or am I missing something here. From all the tutorials I see, it seems like everyone does it different, and everyone claims they're doing it the best way.
this is insane how much information im getting from these videos. im just now getting into color correcting. im trying to learn as much as i can. im a cinematographer trying to add life to my videos. Cause im now realizing the color helps bring an image to life
Love tut's where I can get the footage to follow along. I like to pause them. See if I can get the same look with my current knowledge and then follow along. Just a nice way to see how far I've come!
Thanks for explaining fully. I usually get lost halfway because it's too fast or technical, but this went at a perfect pace. Thank you so much for teaching! Good day!
OMFG. I am doing an MA in filmmaking at KU and our teacher is using the guide from this vid to teach us how to use Davinci. Even the sample vid is the same! I could do it online for free! Instead of paying thousands!
I love watching your grade. You make it look so effortless. I would be done with two nodes in but you just keep going and improving. Thank you for sharing your talent.
beyond the admiration for your dedication to share your knowledge I am impressed with the solutions you find and the way you go not only half way to get a nice image color corect but a perfect one. COngratulations!
That was great, Aram. As Gilles D (below) said, your tutorials are wonderful. Very clear, and - really important for me in addition to seeing how to implement specific techniques - you show the workflow of Davinci Resolve very clearly. DVR really seems to be facilitate a very logical and extremely easy way of working, which will be perfect for me. And the interface is so uncluttered in comparison to other video editing programs. I really like everything you did to create more pleasing skin tones in the video, except dodging a bit on the nose. I cannot un-see the white line going vertically down the centre of the model's nose. Personally, I would have done the opposite to you, but those choices are very personal. By the way, dodging and burning were techniques that were originally evolved to compensate for under exposure (where the image was too dark in places), or over exposure (in which the image was too light). So, using dodging and burning are really used to try to make the apparent visual 'defects' (too light or too dark) more balanced, rather than to give a more 3D effect, as you said, although they may also have that effect in certain contexts.
Aram K Could you explain in next tutorials the difference between the different king of nodes and which situations are more accurate to use them? Thanks!!
I know you probably wont see this comment because of the video being older, but I absolutely love your work man and watch hours and hours of the same videos a day for practice. What would be the best way to round trip from davinci resolve to after effects while keeping my 10-bit codec?
I really like your tutorials. They break the process up into manageable chunks. It will be helpful if you make a larger point of the buttons you are pushing. You seem to ad more attention to the results of pushing buttons or sliding scales vs. what you are dong to achieve the results. All the information is present. It would be more clear with a little more care and attention giving to the specific buttons and slides. I see the beautiful results, but the initiators go by so fast that it is hard to follow. I thought initially it was because I was watching on my cell phone. I switched to a larger screen and I'm still having trouble following the cursor and seeing exactly what you are pushing a sliding. Thank you for the great information. I hope my input will help in the future.
Hi aram k, one ask for you please. What you think of card grafic balck magic 12bit extreme 4k. I needed it or not, for run play real-time braw 3:1 75fps 50fps ecc on the pc, And a curating Cobtrol of color? Thx
thanks so much for the tutorial Aram! this was really great. could you do a tutorial on the general theory of how to set up nodes to complete your image? specifically, which comes first, is there a general rule to follow.. etc also, your Noise Reduction node was probably the simplest out there on youtube and I'd love to hear a little bit more about your thought process. i have neat video and not the full davinci software. when and where should i apply NR during the color grade? thanks for making these awesome videos!
neat video is extremely powerful noise reduction, best in the industry as of right now, however, it takes a lot of computer resources. You should always perform noise reduction before the grading. You get cleaner key and more accurate skin tones in the secondaries.
I'm a little concerned about the order of the nodes, I mean, how different or problematic could be if I'm correcting light, then add SAT, what I wanna know is are there good practices on the order of processes?
Can you do a video on the openFX sharpen i recently purchased the studio version of resolve. Is the openfx sharpen better then just using the radius tool from the free version?
Hi Aram, thanks for the great tutorial. Just out of curiosity when you work on your Still Photography, are you using Photoshop to color the Still Photos? If so, does Photoshop have the essentially the same tools as Resolve to achieve the looks you like?
+Eugene Sung Im trying to do "pre work" in capture one, and finishing up on photoshop. Photoshop has all the tools and essentially it's the same concept

Thank you great tut, looking forward to a V-Log tut
This is simply the most clarifying and more accurate white balance correction I've seen. Period :)

That white balance/power window trick is cool
I've been watching a lot of color grading tutorials lately, but this one really stands out from the others. Very well done, thank you!
+fred .fp thanks for watching !
I quite liked his tip of selecting a white part of the image to make the white balance. How had I never thought of that before? Thanks!
Thanks its one of the methods

What setting do you used when uploading to UA-cam. The color in my footage shifts and look desaturated when I upload my video.

how do you bring the color panels to the way yours is? Mine are all in a straight line and I am not able to change it somehow.
This was great.
