    Nice video. I have a venustus and he has the gold color and blue face. Mine seems pretty easy going but seems sort of like an Oscar the way he always begs for food. I used to have an OB peacock cichlid that used to chase him around but I gave him to the fish shop.

    Hi Charmer. Awesome fish and thanks for the great info. Update on my lighting, it’s going well and zero algae. The boys are happy. I have my 2nd tank running now and I have 4 peas in there now. I’ll add 4 more to that tank when my LFS gets their order this coming week. I was not a fan of albino fish. But I did bring one home yesterday. Light strawberry albino peacock. Now that he’s in my tank and under better lighting, then a fish store. He looks great. One thing I did learn over the years is, fish will look different in your home tanks. Then they will under bright fish store lights. I am really considering a 120gal to replace my 2 - 66gal tanks. I’m stewing on it hard lol.

    • @CichlidCharmer

      Who doesn’t love getting new fish! That’s great. My lfs doesn’t carry much that I want. My albino has a hard time finding food. I guess they have poor eyesight, so watch him. If he gets a sunken belly, it might not be parasites. It could be starvation. The 120 would be very exciting!!

    Hi which grain size aragonite do you have? Is it special grade 1-2mm. No issues with your wave maker blowing it around?

    • @CichlidCharmer
      @CichlidCharmer  2 місяці тому

      I’m not 100% positive. The sand I bought at Petco I can’t seem to find anymore. They still have CaribSea but the granules are a bit smaller. I’m guessing mine were maybe slightly larger than 2mm or maybe right at 2mm. The wavemakers can blow it around but if I have everything just right it’s fine.

      Mbuna are typically more aggressive. I’m sure it can be done, but I’m under enough stress with my boys as it is. I’d rather just have an mbuna only tank or a peacock/ hap tank. Kinda wish I’d just done haps only actually

      @@CichlidCharmer ok bad news lol. I ended up getting a venustus at 2.5 inches unsexed. I'll let the fish grow out a little bit for determining sex (pray I have a male). Should have enough time until end of year for the bigger tank. It only cost me $13 from snake river plus I got a iceberg blue fryeri due to snake river giving me credit towards a older purchase. They sent me a female sulfur head instead of guarantee male. So with the credit I got the unsexed venustus and fryeri.
