The rotary dial allows for quick hassle free operation without having to peck at the screen. It takes a week or two to get used it - as soon as you are familiar with the interface it is by far superior to a standard touch screen. (There is an option buried in the menu to allow for touch screen access on the move for the new larger screens if the rotary dial is still an issue!)
I had been in the market for a family car for my wife to use. No offence to my wife, she is really not into too much technology, so I had to find something that would be hustle free and easy to maintain. Her previous car was a Ford Focus 1.0 eco boost. After considering a lot of options, we bought a 2022 CX 5 Carbon Edition. We got the car brand new. Fuel economy was pathetic at first but slowly got better with time. The Car came with a 90K maintenance plan. In the just over 2 years we’ve had the car, I’ve never heard my wife complain. The car is fantastic. Easy to use, reliable and handles our great trek from Durban to Pretoria at least twice a year without a challenge. The CX 5 is an amazing car.
We are loving our 2L Auto dynamic. 4 years later of ownership and no issues, just normal services and it keeps on running. Btw I am a new SUBS and loving the content 👌
Thank you Sir for a great great review...but I would suggest you give us the real time fuel consumption cause the numbers given most vehicles are far from the truth. For example, the car I drive always reads under 8 to as far as 6.5! However the real time consumption sits at around 11 L/100KM
This car is on my shortlist of cars that I will buy. I love Mazda's for their reliability and value for money.. well done Mazda for the best car in this class 👐👐
I love this car. I'd buy it with my own money. However, I wish they had tuned the drivetrain to deliver more torgue. A whole 2l engine delivering less than 300NM of torgue is a bit of a let down. But hey, not deal breaker. A small batter to assist that power delivery would go a long way. So aye to a CX5 mild hybrid 😅
This is a joy to drive thanks for the review of the latest CX-5. Very reliable 2.0L NA might scream to quickly get to speed but once going it’s never wrong. The only draw back is one engine option wish they kept the 2.2D since the 2.5L is in the base CX-60
You forgot Honda off your Japanese list. 😄 Honda CRV also a great choice. Yes, the price of a new one is ludacris, but a well looked after 2018ish model would make a great used buy and will last forever.
My Wife has a 2021 Alkera diesel. Awesome car. With 140kW / 450Nm from the 2,2l motor it has plenty of get up and go and great fuel consumption. Simply cannot understand why Mazda dropped this diesel model.
Very unlikely for the turbo engines- Mazda's focus for our market is to be in the top 3 most reliable brands. The use of turbo engines reduces the chance of this
Greg, Mazda CX-5 or Ford Territory? Have shortlisted these two vehicles given that we are expecting our first child. Long term family vehicle purchase.
@@GregDennisReviews Not at the current Rav-4 pricing. CX-5 offers 5-years unlimited service plan and warranty. And the highjack risk is close to 0 with the CX-5. Mazda for the win!

Does this car have central locking / unlocking?
@@kudzaigwanzura6750
Yes
This car is a stalwart in the category. Don't know why it doesn't sell in droves here in SA
My top 2 SUVs:
1. Kia Sportage EX
2. Mazda CX-5 Dynamic.
If I were to get an SUV, I would definitely go for one of these.
Great choices! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼

It’s easy to love!
I'm definitely ready to own this car and I don't care about it's color because they all look good.
Finally, this car has been on my short-list for a while. Thanks mate
Amazing! I aim to please 😂
Can someone tell Toyota that we need a new RUN X😢
Im still loving the CX60 takumi 3.3 mild hybrid diesel.
I can’t wait to drive that one!
Great car but is very pricey
You are right about that RED colour. In fact, I searched for the paint code so I could use it on my non-Mazda car. 😁😁😁

I agree about the torque… a little more wouldn’t hurt

CVT gearbox is an acquired taste.

They probably feared it would cannibalise sales of the cx60 given how closely priced it was to the base cx60
And no sunroof option in glorius SA weather. Why do overseas models come with a SR!
Me wanting this car with a Mazda 3 budget
i think that will be my next car but i was not sure about the 2L so i was thinking of a 2.5 or 2,2 diesel.
That would be a good one. But only 2nd hand. No more new diesels being sold for CX-5
Im driving one in polymetal gray
Oh my word when are they updating that interior though??
Hopefully soon 🤞
Demo's from R 499 900. Great value!
Exactly 👏👏
You should review the MAZDA CX-5 Carbon Edition, we don’t have any South African reviews on the Carbon Edition 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Let me see what I can do 😉
@@GregDennisReviews thank you, can’t wait 🔥🔥🙏🏾🙏🏾
Nice jersey unc Gregg
Is it a Desel or Petrol engine
CX5's don't come in diesel
Correct. You’ll find some diesel ones on the second hand market now, which would be a great car! But no longer sold as new in Diesel
The Japanese knows their stuff✌🏽
Has the screen been updated? Last I checked it had a tiny infotainment screen
That’s still the same
@@GregDennisReviews No, it has been updated. New wider screen is now standard across the range.
Okay nice. Thank you.

My mazda cx5 allow touch screen if the car is not moving

for 2019 Mazda CX-5…….. Thank you

Toyota RAV4 will do for most South Africans😂

Girls it’s a Nissan. Boys it’s a Mazda Miata
The day time running lights should be standard 😅😅... Mazda should be arrested for the plastic mimicking day time running lights
You have the Chinese Cara for that. Go spend your cents there and leave quality to Mazda

Great review, but terrible lighting makes it hard to watch.
Do you know if it's sufficiently protected against rusting during winter?
