    A similar engine called the Power Pak was popular in the UK in the 1950s. There were special steel reinforced tyres for use with it, as standard cycle tyres would just wear away in no time. The cord casing of the tyre was strengthened by having steel threads woven into it. The rubber was tougher and much thicker than normal cycle tyres. My father used to go to work on one and the rear tyre would last about a year. One big bonus, the tyre was virtually puncture proof because the steel reinforcement prevented sharp objects from penetrating.

    • @bikeberry
      @bikeberry  6 років тому +6

      Those tyre, and many other puncture resistant tyres, are still readily available. We encourage every rider to customize their bikes as much as possible to fit their budget and needs. We provide this engine by itself to keep costs down for our customers.

    I appreciate a professional's view at installing a bicycle motor. Most people however cringe rather at the cost of installation than a UA-cam video! Thats why they do it themselves! Thanks.

    I've ordered one time from BikeBerry. Spent almost $300. I was sent a 49cc Lock and Load engine kit....missing crucial pieces. Like the Stilts. The gas cap. Extra Fuel line I paid for. As well as multiple bolts, washers, and spacers to mount the engine AND to assemble the brackets. After receiving SOME of my missing parts in a second shipment, I STILL have yet to get the bolts and washers that were missing. A 3rd shipment is on the way to rectify my original order but I've seen in my email that it's STILLLLLL not all my missing bolts, washers, and spacers!!! I'm NOW going to have to hassle BikeBerry 4 a 4th shipment...which will HOPEFULLY FINALLY have my remaining bolts, washers, and spacers. Very, VERY disappointing experience thus far.

    This is so cool but sadly here in Britain it would be illegal :( Our government wants fewer cars on the road but if you come up with an innovative idea like this that cuts pollution and gets over 200mpg despite not exceeding 20 mph, it's not allowed. British government don't like it because they can't rip us off with tax. The laws here in Britain suck.

      Salvador Sanchez Salvador and what do you think, I am against Trump??? No. You little stinkers are making Texas into swamp place. Why? I will tell you. Back in time I was at Laredo TX, and at the post office mailing a package. I was the only one on the post office. The Mexican girl there stopped serving me as soon as a Mexican walked in. And proceeded to serve the Mexican right over my head! She continued to serve me, only after she served the Mexican. You Mexican guys make USA look like a shit hole by doing this, and you want me to oppose Trump for why he doesn't want Mexicans??? You are largely delusional on that. I have never ever seen anything like this from any other origin of people but Mexican... Why be so ***** ???
      On the opposite when Mexicans cried to me to Jumpstart their semi truck, I did. Most semi trucks are impossible to jumpstart, I charged their batteries on high for about 30 minutes and their truck started.
      That is how I treated Mexicans in Texas, but you guys, oftentimes act despicably...

    • @salvadorsanchez7997
      @salvadorsanchez7997 8 років тому +24

      Yup, there goes again a loyal Trump supporter against Mexicans insulting a whole nationality just because he saw a Hispanic person (BTW, I was born in USA) making a comment against his favorite "politician", I won't deny there are some very despicable Mexicans out there that don't deserve to be here, but the same goes for a white, black, yellow, or any other non white people. I have had very, very bad encounters with disgusting white people, but I will obviously not hate them and generalize because of actions they did. It is your choice deciding to follow or not President Trump, but please stop having the idea that everyone is like the few people you had bad experiences here. I am delusional yo say???? I only stated the truth, we have Trump here, whether it is a good or bad thing. You are inviting a foreigner to come to this country, without even knowing him. He might be Muslim, who knows. If so, most likely he wont be allowed. What if he happened to be Mexican?? Will you now hate him??? Think about it, seriously. Anyways, learn how to take a joke dude, remember that the more you stress about things, the fastest you get old. Going back to the video, I loved that engine kit!!!!!!!!!!

Also when you make up a wiring joint that will be exposed to the elements (heat and rain mainly) electrical tape is not going to hold for very long. people are concerned about the wear of the rear tire, which is not true, the 49, 52 and 63cc engines of the brushcutter type are engines with an automatic clutch, which is driven by a centrifugal system, which prevents tire wear in the acceleration and reduction, the automatic clutch causes the wheel shaft that touches the tire after you pedal the bike to be activated by gentle acceleration until reaching maximum speed without wanting the mechanical system in contact with the tire, slipping. .. engines with automatic clutch type of brush cutter is the most recommended and approved.

      +vedat kamanli It will bald out your rear wheel faster than your front because of the rolling pin. We recommend filing down the rolling pin and smooth it out a little bit to increase your wheel life. Keep in mind, that filing it down too much can cause issues with it 'catching' your rear wheel so file it sparingly.

    when your rear tire picks up a piece of wire, glass, nail or thorn, doesn't that tire roller just press it in further with every rotation, guaranteeing a flat? don't we need a solid rubber tire for this?

    • @bikeberry
      @bikeberry  7 років тому +1

      Not necessarily. Depending on the thickness of tire and its composite material the debris may not puncture all the way through to causing a flat. If installed correctly, the typical pressure the roller applies to the tire is not significantly different than the pressure the tire experiences when rolling against the ground. Either way, we recommend that all riders of any bike do periodic maintenance on their bikes to prevent flats or any damage to their bike.

      @theatom7264 7 років тому +8

      Don't know how the laws are in the UK but here in the states they don't seem to care much even for those in frame engine motorized bikes. I got around on a beach cruiser for about a year & was only pulled over once for not fully stopping at a stop sign the cop didn't really question the legality of my bike nor did he ask for paper work. Let me off with a warning though because my brakes weren't very good (wink wink) I guess it depends on what kind of cop pull's you over. Suppose I was one of the lucky ones because I've heard of others getting slapped with finds just for driving theirs on public roads. After my motorized beach cruiser failed I built a friction drive mountain bike & been driving that for a year now & never been hassled by the cops for it once. I don't think they can legally impound your bike in most places though. Don't risk it though. Get the bike registered as a moped, always wear a helmet & doesn't hurt to carry a motorcycle license & you should check your local laws.
