A similar engine called the Power Pak was popular in the UK in the 1950s. There were special steel reinforced tyres for use with it, as standard cycle tyres would just wear away in no time. The cord casing of the tyre was strengthened by having steel threads woven into it. The rubber was tougher and much thicker than normal cycle tyres. Do you guys provide a better throttle assembly kit that will last longer? the plastic throttle gets stripped super easy and I need a stronger material. That plastic is not strong enough.
www.bikeberry.com/bbr-tuning-complete-billet-aluminum-throttle-grip-handle-and-kill-switch-set.html We have these, but the components inside are still plastic.
when your rear tire picks up a piece of wire, glass, nail or thorn, doesn't that tire roller just press it in further with every rotation, guaranteeing a flat? don't we need a solid rubber tire for this?
Not necessarily. Depending on the thickness of tire and its composite material the debris may not puncture all the way through to causing a flat. If installed correctly, the typical pressure the roller applies to the tire is not significantly different than the pressure the tire experiences when rolling against the ground. Either way, we recommend that all riders of any bike do periodic maintenance on their bikes to prevent flats or any damage to their bike.
same here in Australia you will cop a unregistered, defective motorbike fine and if you don't have a motorbike licence you will get smacked wit another fine all up $2000+
Don't know how the laws are in the UK but here in the states they don't seem to care much even for those in frame engine motorized bikes. I got around on a beach cruiser for about a year & was only pulled over once for not fully stopping at a stop sign the cop didn't really question the legality of my bike nor did he ask for paper work. Let me off with a warning though because my brakes weren't very good (wink wink) I guess it depends on what kind of cop pull's you over. Suppose I was one of the lucky ones because I've heard of others getting slapped with finds just for driving theirs on public roads. After my motorized beach cruiser failed I built a friction drive mountain bike & been driving that for a year now & never been hassled by the cops for it once. I don't think they can legally impound your bike in most places though. Don't risk it though. Get the bike registered as a moped, always wear a helmet & doesn't hurt to carry a motorcycle license & you should check your local laws.
All the more successful homeless people in my area have these; no license, no registration, no emissions test, no tax, no helmet, no speed limit and I'm pretty sure you can operate one of these as drunk or as high as you can be in Arizona. Hell, bing homeless in Az. Can be pretty damn nice.
BikeBerrycom Thanks for your reply. I decided to go for an adult push scooter, because anything that has two wheels and is parked outside gets stolen or vandalised where I live at (Newcastle, UK). Plus, I think I would need a driver's license for this, which I dont have. But thanks for your reply.
Automotive and scooter oil is very similar, but scooter oil is designed to hold it's viscosity a little better, increasing the longevity and performance of your engine.
There are several DIY tutorials and other vendors, such as our friends at gasbike, that carry tricycle conversion kits. Though, these kits are intended for chain drive systems, not a friction drive system.
European Laws have killed the motorized Bicycle. Put an engine on it and you need to register it, insure it, have a valid motorcycle license and wear a motorcycle helmet. That's no fun! So it makes it worthless unless you sweat hipster or an old farmer still owning a Solex...
How does the throttle work on these? where do you twist it? Also what are the pros and cons of the friction system compared to a traditional motor mount.
Is there an installation like this that uses an extra sprocket/chain instead of the friction drive? I want to get one on my full suspension bike but there's a shock in the way in the main area of the frame, figured this would be better. But I don't like friction drive.
I want to build one of these to make small trips much easier but what is your throttle, I get starting it with the handle but what do you use to change the rpms and stuff?

With enough effort, anything is possible. Cutting off the handle bar grip isn't necessary, it can be pulled off with a little soap and water. We simply thought cutting the grip off would add a little flare to the video.
Air compressors can solve many problems and are often over looked as an essential tool. We unfortunately did not have a working air compressor at the time.

Do you guys provide a better throttle assembly kit that will last longer? the plastic throttle gets stripped super easy and I need a stronger material. That plastic is not strong enough.
www.bikeberry.com/bbr-tuning-complete-billet-aluminum-throttle-grip-handle-and-kill-switch-set.html
We have these, but the components inside are still plastic.
i had one of these kits years ago, cant ride when the roads are wet. lol
Pretty par for the course for friction-drives
when your rear tire picks up a piece of wire, glass, nail or thorn, doesn't that tire roller just press it in further with every rotation, guaranteeing a flat? don't we need a solid rubber tire for this?
Not necessarily. Depending on the thickness of tire and its composite material the debris may not puncture all the way through to causing a flat. If installed correctly, the typical pressure the roller applies to the tire is not significantly different than the pressure the tire experiences when rolling against the ground. Either way, we recommend that all riders of any bike do periodic maintenance on their bikes to prevent flats or any damage to their bike.
Aren't there laws in the UK restricting the riding of any vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine on public roads?
Here in the netherlands also you will need a lisence plate and a drivers license. its a bad idea to drive one around here..
same here in Australia you will cop a unregistered, defective motorbike fine and if you don't have a motorbike licence you will get smacked wit another fine all up $2000+
Don't know how the laws are in the UK but here in the states they don't seem to care much even for those in frame engine motorized bikes.
Modern Leveller it's not in UK in Georgia
All the more successful homeless people in my area have these; no license, no registration, no emissions test, no tax, no helmet, no speed limit and I'm pretty sure you can operate one of these as drunk or as high as you can be in Arizona. Hell, bing homeless in Az. Can be pretty damn nice.
I wonder how fast it will wear out tires since it is not using a chain drive system along with the bicycle pedal.
WHEN WILL THIS AND / OR THE 49cc ONE BE IN STOCK!!!!!??!!!
When the COVID-19 passes, as soon as the Weather warms up!
The throttle cable attaches onto the throttle valve on the carburator correct?
Whats the fastest tthis bike can go
+Roon Ortiz Great question! It goes over 15 MPH and gets around 100 miles per gallon
+BikeBerrycom Is it sold in the UK?
BikeBerrycom Thanks for your reply.
I decided to go for an adult push scooter, because anything that has two wheels and is parked outside gets stolen or vandalised where I live at (Newcastle, UK).
Plus, I think I would need a driver's license for this, which I dont have.
But thanks for your reply.
+BikeBerrycom my clutch spring broke and i replaced it and now the bike accelerates slow and doesnt go as fast any suggestions or ideas on why.
+BikeBerrycom ...that's it? I'm new to these so maybe it's fast but that seems kinda slow to me. If someone would like to explain please do
For this new engine that you are talking about can I use 10W-30 synthetic motor oil?
I have at home
Automotive and scooter oil is very similar, but scooter oil is designed to hold it's viscosity a little better, increasing the longevity and performance of your engine.
Now make a two wheel drive version.
There are several DIY tutorials and other vendors, such as our friends at gasbike, that carry tricycle conversion kits. Though, these kits are intended for chain drive systems, not a friction drive system.
How do yall fuel ur bike? just get a canister and walk to the gas station to fill it up?
I tried and tried and tried but I couldn't cut my handlebars with a box cutter....
Glenn Webster You may need the one with the pre installed laser or mini flame thrower.
Did you use a "titanium" blade? Standard blade "won't cut it" (no pun intended)!
can you make it silent? is it possible to use material to cover up or anything to make it much more silent?
Known as a "Squeeker Wheel" in the c.1920s England with a hard rubber pinion. Ironically here we are 100 years later
That's PROGRESS for ya!
European Laws have killed the motorized Bicycle. Put an engine on it and you need to register it, insure it, have a valid motorcycle license and wear a motorcycle helmet. That's no fun!
So it makes it worthless unless you sweat hipster or an old farmer still owning a Solex...
SiriusXAim come on over to the states then, less restrictions, more fun
Fuck the law, drive
That's why I live in America!
hell, they won't let you carry guns over there. nothing surprises me in Europe.
I got a ticket in America for the same shit. Save your money and stay in dumbass London because dumbass America does it better
How does the throttle work on these? where do you twist it? Also what are the pros and cons of the friction system compared to a traditional motor mount.
Bamskies780 Same as a normal throttle works. Easier to install, no parasitic drag from the chain
will this work on a fat tired bike?
Don't think it will work for fat tire. Diameter of friction assembly not wide enough for a fat tire i think.
leonf1111
How are you capable of walking without your feet touching the whole planet?
Is there an installation like this that uses an extra sprocket/chain instead of the friction drive? I want to get one on my full suspension bike but there's a shock in the way in the main area of the frame, figured this would be better. But I don't like friction drive.
There are DIY videos here on UA-cam of people doing that with chainsaw and weed whacker motors. Look them up, they're exciting projects.
5:04 If you didn't hit the "power button" so many times, it would have been one crank and go.
XD
That's what she said last night...
Hi do you still use the engine bike, how many miles would you get on a full tank thanks
That looks just like my Honda weed eater but black
I want to build one of these to make small trips much easier but what is your throttle, I get starting it with the handle but what do you use to change the rpms and stuff?
Twist throttle on handlebars
nice. now time to build my uber taxi 😁😁
will it working for an adult schwinn meridian tricycle?
Hay there do you send to Australia
Would a 40-48cc motor work with an adult tricycle?
سلام عليكم
wow so nice and easy look cool
Will the kits a fit 29 inch wheel mountain bike? 38cc or 49cc
+TheGrowGeek I was wondering the same thing.
+TheGrowGeek yes Mine is a 29 inch mountain bike it does fit however make sure you have bike rack mounts near the back axel. as long as you are under 200 pounds it will work great
Def getting one of these my next go-around. So much easier to install!
James Ashford if it doesn't fully fit your bike within the 30 days return it immediately
Does the part of the frame where the first mount goes does that part of the frame have to be a certain size ?
Wear out those bike tires.
Is there a way to install this but with a key kill switch, so to start the engine a key needs to be inserted
As a professional mechanic and machinist I cringe at the quality of these products and your installation videos
As a professional? Go build a bridge or something
+eastrockaway11518 That is a job for Engineers and Ironworkers.
Not a damn person that does this shit is a mechanic this is some quick easy shit for fun
dalmatiangirl61 teenage stuff lol. This is deffo bodge it and legit
dalmatiangirl61 no one cares
this friction drive kit will it work on my bike ...its an old sea pines bike not one of these beach cruiser frames also how much does one of these kits cost ...my budget is pretty small...
Legal to drive electric bicycle at 35 km/h. Illegal to drive moped at 35 km/h. Mopeds were legal til a few years ago, now considered 'low power motorcycles'. Very stupid. Thanks for making my life harder than it needs to be, government.
yes and yet we pay for the roads!
Blitherer Masterman i
In ohio 50cc or less it dosent need registration. Most old timey mopeds are illegal but something like this and my local police department would laugh at me and just say "drive safe"
This is litteraly the most complicated and incontinent bike motor out there i could LS a bike and it would be more convenient XD
Ok I'll cut of my handle bar with only a box cutter
With enough effort, anything is possible. Cutting off the handle bar grip isn't necessary, it can be pulled off with a little soap and water. We simply thought cutting the grip off would add a little flare to the video.
BikeBerrycom no you made a mistake you said cut you bars
Air compressors can solve many problems and are often over looked as an essential tool. We unfortunately did not have a working air compressor at the time.
We are aware of what we said, and the intended meaning. We obviously do no intend for anyone try to cut their handle bars with a box cutter, or with any tool for that matter; I would say it is safe to assume most individuals would understand that intended meaning.
@@bikeberry What was wrong with the air compressor?
fitting the engine to the side, doesn't it put the bike off balance because of the weight ?
Use a box cutter to remove your existing handlebars!? 😂😂
Compressed air works well.
Cause theyre trash anyways u got a new throttle handlebar !
Cheezeball87 scissors will work ✂️
Could I use the B&S 5hp engine I already have using the rest of your kit?
does it make pasta
Hello, where do you buy the engine from ?
@BRADLEY GOWERDo they have for front wheel drive ?
@@jsteelman1000 bikeberry.com
I went to your website computers are cool
you can only buy the equipment without the engine?
After you buy this fail for idea, you gonna need 10 rear tires and all the bolts and nuts you going to lose and possible accident against a tree or pedestrian
hi
would like to purchase this kit where i should look for it thank you
You can get an invisible silent electric kit for less than this...
joblessalex
joblessalex I agree
joblessalex where?
Anthony Cortez ebay.
The electric kits are cheaper (about$200 on Amazon) , but the batteries are really expensive. $300-400 for good ones.
do you need this on a bike with hand brakes or can coaster brakes work with this kit?
coaster brakes are applicable
Your demo rider needs a helmet
Completely agree. We suggest all riders to practice safe riding. We unfortunately did not have helmets at the time of this video.
Suck it up buttercup
When you put the engine on with the zip ties where are the bolts for locking it down with the 1mm wrench and the kill switch on it?
Is it ok to use Ty-Raps?
This guy has no goddamn clue what he's reading 😂
And what happens if there is mud on the road?
