Greetings from Cape Town, love following your channel, this was very interesting and an ingenious repair. I have an almost identical Burgess Bandsaw . I think mine might be an even earlier version than that one, it is almost identical but has a Chain and sprocket drive on the bottom right pulley in place of your v -belt drive. My Bandsaw is also absolutely in original condition and it is still used regularly in my workshop. It was passed on to me by my late Uncle in the 1980's, I am now 61, and I recall seeing my Bandsaw in in my Uncle's workshop in the 1960's. They certainly don't make machines to that standard these days. - front cover label ""Burgess Bandsaw Company Hinckley England.""

Thanks 👍 Yes metal pulleys, but a cheapo plastic end cover, i think yours was aluminium, wasn't it. I do use it on wood, now and again, and can produce accurate work, but can't help cursing it to go faster, also i think on my model and maybe yours the blades are not a common size, i think.

@@MrFactotum From the research I've done the blade can be 1/4", 3/8" or a 1/2" on the Mark2. Cheers, Alan.

What ho Mr F,
Nice save and you are absolutely right about conserving as opposed to restoring.
Those 3 wheelers had a bit of a reputation for blade snapping, allegedly because of the 3 sharp bend around the wheels, but i suspect more likely to be inferior blades and improper or clumsy use. When getting new blades, like a metal cutting bandsaw, get bimetal ones and from a country without a "C" in the name.😉
Re the knob on top, on my rarely used wood bandsaw i converted the tension knob to one i could rapidly wind with an index finger. I never liked leaving it with a blade under tension, especially as it has polymer wheels and a normal knob was too tedious keep setting before and after use.

Good idea about tensioner.
yes the ROC blades are made of chocolate. So on the look out for some good quality ones. Mind you i don't think i will use it very often either, but its nice to have for the odd job.
Stay tuned for my soon to be released first official steam test and me being let loose for the first time under steam power.!!🚂🚂 in a week or so's time.

Very nice - I like your approach, no need to make it look new! Are these better than the hexacut mechanical hacksaws? I assumed the hexacut (for example) would be smaller and do what I needed it, but it looks like a small bandsaw might work better?

this i bought for wood mainly, not sure how it would fair on metal?? may be non ferrous would be ok.
i think the hexacut would be better for steel, i'm pretty sure.
its finding one for a reasonable price thats the problem.

oh yes, this is mainly for wood, i'm still on cardio vascular on metal, got no choice ive a stash of sandvik blades to use, i don't want them to get cobwebs on.!!!🤣
