- Repairing My Old Burgess Bandsaw - In The Workshop. After many years of service, my trusty Burgess Bandsaw finally stopped working.
The problem was that the blade guides had worn away completely until one of them just fell apart - this is how I repaired it.

The repair is a much better design than the original. Your "temporary" solution should last a long time.
Dave.
Looks good to me.. a good fix and should last a while.
Good luck with the scan.
Great repair from those bits and pieces that you saved!!!
Good luck from Spain!!
The scan was about 3 Months ago, but thanks anyway 👍
Nice! Good job and have a great Saturday!
Thanks! You too!
Keith, a very clever fix! Hope your bandsaw gives you many more years of fine service! Hope your MRI goes well. Cheers!
Very useful video Keith. I 've had the same model for nearly 50 years and its been brilliant. More than had my moneys worth out of this useful little tool. best wishes
Looks good, quite clever.
Great idea!
Key Board Warrior is a wonderful name for a country western song LOL....
Now that's a great home made fix. My only suggestion is make your final washers larger, to cover 1/2 the saw blade width. (a little more support side to side). ;-)
I have the Clarke version of that saw, that uses ballraces for side support as well. I've had to change them once in 20+ years.
Nice job! I'm a bit surprised the original blade guides didn't have any provision for side offset. OTOH, adjusting the blade guides on my wood-cutting band saw is a horribly fiddly process.
A very ingenious fix, I might have made the side parts out of phosphorus bronze, nut each to there own as long as it works.
Phosphor Bronze is a bit soft for this sort of a job - don't forget that the bandsaw blade has sharp cutting teeth .......
@@keithappleton I was thinking of the Bronze running against the sides of the blade. With one of the cheap ones I worked with they had bronze pads that ran against sides of the blades, they replaced them when they wore out about every 18 months.
well done(hope the mri goes well)
Thanks, that was about 3 Months ago . . . the public videos like this one you have just seen are on patreon.com/keithappleton for a while before I make them public.
@@keithappleton sorry I keep forgetting
Brilliant Keith 👍👍👍👍 I'm in the process of restoring a BBS-20 which only had one blade guide fitted. If you don't mind I would like to pinch your idea for the new blade guides on my saw. Cheers, Alan.
Feel free, they work fine on mine }:-)))
@@keithappleton Thank you very much, greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Great job!! Have made a few of these types of rollers for different saws witch as far as I know there better then new,,, as for harden sides I really don't think it's needed as it just to stop the blade from running g off the roller and getting stuck down the side ,, now with a slept lubricant roller no need to run or fingers though it for external lubricant,,,,lol ,,, take care be safe
Hi Keith absolutely brilliant. I have I believe a Burgess BK 20 and it has a drawing in the case showing that the machine will cut wood or metal by changing the belt but the drive belt I have has no other extension on it to refit another belt even though the drawing shows it clearly. I believe you sent Alan a wheel with that extension and I’m wondering where did you purchase it from as I cannot find anything like that wheel you passed on. Thank you for your help in advance. Basil🙏
Who is Alan ? I have not sent anyone a Burgess Bandsaw Wheel.
anybody with lathes and a milling machine who complains that they can't get a part should have their machines taken away and be laughed at forever.
⭐🙂👍
Have you ever heard the saying. I don't make the things you buy, I make the things you buy better.
