    It would be a lot easier to chalk Cannon’s performance up to inexperience, except that she has been systematically refusing to make definitive orders specifically so there is nothing to appeal, and instead doing these silly paperless orders. I doubt she originated that strategy. Given some of her ethics slips, I think they should investigate her and they may well find her taking guidance from Leonard Leo or his fellow travelers. I don’t think anybody of good faith can deny that possibility.

    What concerns me is that so many people have no problem voting for a man with this degree of dishonesty, corruption, mal feasance and mal intent that Trump holds. And that they justify this with the sense that there is some false equivalency that "all politicians are corrupt" or "we need someone who plays dirty" to fight for their interests. The problem is that when you place your trust in someone of this character, you will come away from this soiled and corrupted, and with no reasonable expectation that he will act honorably in your favor, unless it serves him.

First off… now it will be harder for him to claim it isn’t true… which may have some of his supporters finally give him the boot. Secondly… the Access Hollywood recording where he talks about “just grabbing women” was being written off as just locker room talk. The E Jean Carrol and Stormy Daniels situations made that “meaningless locker room talk” defense less credible. And Daniel’s’ “details” made him clearly more of a rapist than if she had just admitted to “a bit of not exactly enthusiastically consensual sex”. And some… less than flattering details… may also rile him up enough for “outburst” in front of the media… where he may say “too much” and admitting to something that then can hang him… in the court room and the court of public opinion.

    This does all sort of seem like a waste of time. We all know trump will appeal every case he loses, all the way to SCOTUS. And with SCOTUS being trump fans, they will certainly take up every case he brings and give him special treatment. May as well fast track all these cases directly to SCOTUS and cut out the middle man with all the other courts.

    • @roberthenry9319
      @roberthenry9319 12 днів тому

      No. If we just give this process time enough to work, it will work. The Trump SCOTUS justices in reality have no pressure and no motivation to appease Trump whatsoever. They are appointed for life, and Trump cannot do a darn thing about it. What motivates Supreme Court of the United States justices more than anything is not winding up looking like absolute fools and idiots to lawyers, judges, legal scholars and academics in law schools for generations to come throughout the rest of American history.
      Good examples of SCOTUS justices who have received eternal legal damnation are those of the Dred Scott case in the early 1850's who judged that black Americans are not really human beings, thus justifying slavery and resulting in the Cival War, and Plessy vs Ferguson in the late 1860's which ruled that total segregation is the law of the land because blacks and whites are separate and unequal. This allowed for the Jim Crow era of total segregation and lynching of blacks for over half a century. (Dred Scott was over-ruled by the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments and Plessy v. Ferguson was over-ruled by Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka in 1954).
      There is very powerful motivation for SCOTUS justices to get things right the first time. What Trump wants them to do or not do means shit in the long run. See why the Founders made Supreme Court justice appointments to last for the life of the justice? We will be OK now because of it.

    With all due respect to the host and panel--with the exception of Ms Chavez--this conversation is yet another example of "inside the Beltway" tone-deaf chatter. The reason that Stormy Daniel's testimony had to be so detailed was so that it would reach the average, possibly persuadable, citizen (juror). The devil is in the details! As for the law(s) that Donald Trump is accused of breaking in this cover-up, those facts are nearly incontrovertible that he's guilty. But, that's just not sexy enough to get many in our society to see it as worthy of their time. Like it or not, the tawdry nature of the sexual act is what's garnering the public's attention. Will the vast majority of Trump supporters be swayed? Not likely. But, will the jurors be sufficiently convinced that Trump is guilty of the charges against him? Never underestimate the solemnity and seriousness of an American jury. Many a legal observer has described what takes place in jury deliberations as nothing short of magical.

I think this right wing panel only pretends to be appalled by Trump only in how it reflects on their grand 'ole party.

So they had to introduce details to rehabilitate her credibility from that claim. A claim, btw, which lawyers are not supposed to be allowed to make on behalf of their client, if their client wants to call her a liar, then he, like she did, has to sit down and testify under oath.

Trump didn’t do shyt but kill millions of Americans. I just don’t get it. And I’m not a democrat but I should be, cuz I will never vote for the traitorous Republican Party.

      No. That is not how witnessing in a trial case works. Plus, Jack Smith is not involved with this Stormy case in any way. This is a New York State case, not a Federal case. Jack Smith, being appointed as a Federal prosecutor, has nothing to do with it. In any event, what all prosecutors do (whether Federal or State) is educate their witnesses on how to respond properly to opposing counsel's questions in Court so that their testimony can be accepted as proper by the Court. That is how running a trial in our system of justice works. Every time. And that is a good thing. It is what makes sense out of chaos.

    They scoff and speak wickedly concerning oppression;
    They speak loftily. … Behold, these are the ungodly … Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment!
