I'm still kind of mad at him for what he did, but I've been watching him for a long time, and he is a good man. He was swindled the way Trump has swindled people for many years. For sure Trump had his highly-respected cronies (he used to have some, though perhaps they're not respected anymore) put ideas in his ears, "we both love God and America, so of course the moral thing would be to disclose that there's an investigation," etc. You and I might not have fallen for it, but Comey is a true believer in the justice system etc. He was naive as many people were to the real powers supporting Trump. Trump really knows how to bamboozle people, plus he had a huge theocratic organisation backing him up, as well as Russia, and all three have honed their bamboozling skills for many decades. Comey will never blame anyone for what he did, but he was pushed. He's not like John Bolton, who started out insane.

I don't get why they think Trump would be good for the economy considering he's proposing an across the board tariff of 10% on all foreign goods imported into the country and an even higher one on imported Chinese products in order to encourage more local manufacturing. Of course making this stuff in the United States would cost more so he's effectively just proposing a 10% increase in the cost of everything we buy. So if people already feel like their pocket book is hurting than putting Trump in charge would make their pocket book bleed.

Economy data. Look, Tim said it in another pod. If you are making a good living or wealthy the economy is good. But for people like me I struggle to pay bills, I have a roof that needs replacing and can't afford it. I have plumbing work that needs done, can't afford it. I can't afford car insurance or to fix my car. I refiuse to sell my house because rents are out of control. Corporations are out of control. Am I a person that is getting loans therefore grateful for lowered interests? No. Am I a person who can work therefore grateful for working opportunities? No Cost of living is still high. Insurance costs are high (home and car). And I am one person. I cant imagine what food, energy, daycare, school costs are for families. So the biggest problem is judging the economy based on the wealthy. Stop doing that. Talk to the poor, the homeless, thats where we should judge the economy. What is laughable is thinking tRump and MAGA are going to fix that.

I’ve lived through numerous ups and downs of the US and world economies. I lived through high double digit interest rates (18%), high inflation and absolutely no jobs available.. People seem to have short memories and have forgotten what a real recession looks like.

I’m one of the social media warriors that is doing their best to tell the truth. My politics are far, far left, and therefore not likely to be part of the political world of most Americans. I just try to talk common sense and everyday things and ask questions about everyday life like any foreigner would. It’s been forty years since I lived in the country where I was born and grew up. I read an article many, many years ago about store window advertising in NYC and how each department store had to get more and more extreme and more and more bizarre in order to attract the attention of the people passing on the streets. If I remember correctly, it was about a window particularly with some very disturbing imagery. This, IMO, is a perfect discription of the GOP performance politics. They can't sell people on their product, so they rely on more and more extreme "advertising" to get and hold attention.

I am guessing the term, “unified reich,” got into the ad copy as the result of a mistake made by the person who took the notes at the ad agency’s meeting with the client.
While the agency and client the were brainstorming the ad’s key messages, the client threw out the term, “unified right,” but the young alt-right ad coordinator who took the notes heard “reich,” because “out of the mouths of babes,” etc.
Then, when it came time to lay that copy into the ad, nobody at the agency had the balls to call the client back and ask, “Hey, did you really mean ‘reich’?” So the creative director said, “Just put it in that way, and if it’s wrong, the client will flag it during proofreading.” But when the client proofread the copy, they said, “Wow that’s really ballsy, but the ad agency must know what they are doing.”
So the client approved the ad as-is, and for a very brief period, both the client and the agency were left silently admiring each others’ balls.
But then it turned out that there were no balls… just one poor ad coordinator who accidentally discovered that they possess the superpower to channel their clients’ worst instincts. It’s what happens sometimes in advertising, when the agency is afraid of the client.
