It's amazing that I've seen career criminals behave 100 times more respectfully in courtrooms than a former president and his entourage of lawyers
Career criminals have a good sense for which battles are winnable. Many of those criminals are much smarter than Trump is.
Actually, Don the con IS a career criminal 😏 he has just been allowed to (mostly) skate until he took to politics! 😉😝😡
If only all of our SCOTUS judges were as principled, ethical, and even tempered as this judge has been. Dude has the patience of a saint dealing with this case.

Nah. Thats not a good reason for a judge to exercise his courtroom powers. “Making an example” of a defense witness to impress Trump is really bad judicial practice. I like my rule of law to actually be rule of law.

The judge panicked when he realized the case is blown. He got flustered, made a call to his masters for further instructions. Trump didn't need to testify because he doesn't have a prove his innocence. The prosecution has to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. They cam manipulate the jury instructions for a last ditch effort. All doesn't matter. Post conviction relief is a given in any criminal case. I took a plea on a misdemeanor and still filed post conviction appeal. Needed a stall tactic.

That reality TV has-been certainly would have pleaded the Fifth, even though he said that innocent people don't plead the Fifth. Then again, we're talking about someone who supposedly had bone spurs preventing him from enlisting to fight in the Vietnam War.

There’s a 99.99% that his lawyers wouldn’t let him take the stand and he knew it before the first day of the trial. He was blowing smoke as usual.
He doesn't listen to his lawyers in any other case. He's scared shitless.
Lawyers could not stop him from taking the stand. Testifying is his right. He chose to invoke his right not to testify in his own defense.

I disagree with Ben. It's a simple choice for all 12 jurors. The prosecution says each juror ask yourself are all 20 witnesses that corroborated Cohen's testimony lying and are all the documents that corroborated Cohen's testimony fake or alternatively is Trump lying. You choose what's more likely.

I agree with everything Ben said. I would like to ask with regard to his point about truth and fairness in a more general sense; if you are in a game in front of a huge crowd and the other side is cheating but the crowd can't see it and when you go to tell the referee, the ref is wearing the cheating team's colours, how do you win? How can you show the crowd the other side is cheating? How can you get a fair outcome if the ref has been paid off like Alito and Thomas at best and maybe all six refs? I have huge respect for you guys and this is a genuine question, how?
And some of us feel icky at having to dive lower than Trump to try and stick something on him.
Remember in the world of political opinion you can run your mouth as much as you want. In the justice system the things you say can have find you in jail .Either way hes as guilty as they come.
I agree with the judge anyone can tell body language non verbal communication is being directed at you. Costello stare as if he is the bosses hit man.

Judge Merchan is a model of what a judge should be. But hey, Kaplan and Engoron did a fine job in the civil cases as well.
