My dog isn’t a beagle, she’s a mutt, but she starts whimpering even before I leave, and cries non-stop until I get back. I put soothing music with dogs on the TV, and give her a Kong with food, which she ignores until I walk in the door, and then she frantically starts eating the food. I’ve tried CBD oil. Oh the poor thing. We also have a Beagle. No matter how long we are gone (sometimes just 5-10 minutes), our fur baby wanders around and frequently howls (in addition to security cameras inside and out of our home) we also have a doggy cam/treat dispenser. Our greeting upon arrival home is beyond exciting and omg you’ve been gone soooooo long. Wouldn’t change our sweetie for the world.
We have a beagle mix who acts like you are never coming back every time you leave the room and like she hasn’t seen you in years when you come back after five minutes. She will lick you relentlessly and she is so cute you will let her until you remember she was just in the backyard sniffing every pile of poop there before making a fresh one. She also alerts us to the presence of every leaf blowing in the wind within view of the window she sits at. She is such an adorable pain in the butt!

Awesome story, thanks for sharing! 🐕
How old was your beagle when you stopped crating him at home? Ours is 4 months and he will cry in his crate the entire time we are gone and I feel like maybe he wouldn’t be as sad if he could roam the whole house
@@annar8232 Beast was already a year old when I finally adopted him. He does have a crate but now it's mostly just for sleeping or having his own space to himself. Part of that was making the crate a positive experience; a comfortable place the dog likes to go into. Treats & praise for him going in, staying in, and being calm. Plus, there's a safety factor. He might be putting up a fuss, but the crate is keeping him safe from getting into things he shouldn't while you're not there. @@BeagleBabyBeastie Yeah thanks for responding. The vet we take her to say that’s she the most unique beagle they’ve ever seen….mostly cause she’s the only beagle they’ve ever seen that that has a random dewclaw on one of her back legs and her pattern is cute. She’s almost 6 months and about 22-23 pounds now. She’s extremely cute and she’s gets so much attention for it wherever we go. She’s also a lot easier to train than I thought she was going to be. At 4 months I taught her how to roll over, she knows how to close doors for me(not perfect but sometimes it is), and she knows to stay/wait and I can call her over. So beagles can definitely be quite intelligent.
@@MAGWAII Those sound like some cool tricks, nice job! Beast learned just about everything I taught him with positive reinforcement clicker training. Finding the right motivation (in his case- food!) can be very powerful when it comes to overcoming beagle 'stubbornness'.

There are some training tips you can find online to work with her to help her be better on her own for a little bit. Also, distractions like having a TV/radio on quietly, or food frustration toys like Kongs can help keep the dog busy for a little while while you're away. Still, beagles are a very social breed and don't like being alone for long periods of time. Thanks for stopping by!
Honey I'm home. Make sure to kiss him goodbye and tell him that you have to go, but you'll always come back for him. He's clearly lonely and can't understand what he did to make you leave him. Remember this is your baby.
Agreed...and that is excellent advice! Every human should follow it when leaving their dog at home. Thanks for sharing! :) Beags are very social and love being around their people. However, training & practice can help them tolerate being home alone for longer periods. A dog might not understand being left behind for a little while, but generally they are safest when left at home. now i know yes ours sings the song of his people and the greeting is something else when we get back even after couple of hours ,do i regret w owning one NO
That is definitely something to consider before bringing a dog into your life. If daycare or dog sitters aren't an option (or out of your budget), there are a few things you'd be able to do. Some people do crate training where he just stays in his crate the whole time you're away. You might be able to find some other training pointers on UA-cam from reputable behaviorists (Victoria Stillwell, Cesar Millan, etc.) that use positive reinforcement techniques. If you're not quite ready to get a dog yet, one thing you might want to consider is volunteering some of your free time at your local shelter or rescue. My human did this for several years. It's a great way to get training experience, exposure to different breeds, access to experts who can answer questions, as well as help dogs that need it the most. Thanks again for watching & have a great day!
I'm sure he's happy to see you when you come home though :) Beags are very social and don't like to be alone for long, but there are training techniques & other approaches available that can help them relax. Thanks for watching!
Sing it Beastie, sing it!! Great video. Getting an insight view of Beast's activities while you were out, and seeing Beast's joyful "Honey, I'm home" greeting. 💙🐾
Crates are a good way to keep them safe, as well as provide a space that's just for them. Being alone can be tough on dogs, especially more social breeds like beagles 🐶💗
I have 2 girl beagles (sisters). The similarities are uncanny. Awesome to see others understand but I will say… these 2 would’ve been off that table after 15 seconds of the door closing. 😂
I'm sure they get into all kinds of good trouble together! At the very least I'm sure they keep each other company. I was only away about a half hour, so it was interesting to see what really happens when I'm away. Have a great day & thanks for watching!
I need help, I have a 3 months beagle puppy , we have to leave him in our friend's house for 2 days, will be be fine without us just for 2 days, I am tensed please tell will my puppy be ok, He may cry at night because he will not be able to find his own place.
Hi! If your friend takes good care of him with lost of walks, playtime, and attention, I think your puppy will be okay for 2 days. As they say: tired dogs are happy dogs. Here's a tip: if you have something like a towel, an old shirt, or a small blanket that smells like home that you can leave with the dog, that might help him feel a little more relaxed in a different location. The same goes with bringing along some of the dog's favorite toys or treats. While you're away, try not to worry about him missing you. Instead, look forward to how happy he will be when he sees you again :) Good luck!
@@BeagleBabyBeastie So sweet of u thanks a lot for the tip now I am feeling relaxed and definitely I will follow ur instructions,I will give him his toys treets ,bed , crate clothes every single thing thank u soo much again
Luckily, most of the neighbors like most of his songs most of the time😁 Luckier for him, he's usually not home alone long enough or frequently enough anymore for him to be too upset for too long🐶
Hopefully there's dog friendly places nearby where you can take him with you 😊 Beast goes to daycare if nobody can look after him when I'm going to be gone for too long. Give your beag a hug for us!💗🐶
He has been left home alone that long before. He's not a fan of it so I try not to do it very often, as he is very social and likes to be where everyone is. Behaviors for him being alone that long include what you see here: sleeping, sulking, occasional howling, but also stress panting. He is always happy to see me come home. I do leave a quiet TV or music on for him as well as toys that use food to keep him busy, and that does seem to help keep him occupied.
Great question! Generally, beagles are social and like to be around their people, but with a little practice they can be left alone for a few hours. A few tips: practice leaving him home alone for short periods of time then slowly build up the time you're away, leave quiet music or a TV on for them, and durable food based items like stuffed Kongs can help keep them occupied while you're away.

It's tough leaving them behind, isn't it? Lately he's been going to day camp so at least he gets to play with his friends while I'm at work 🐕
I really want a dog but I'm not sure how I would train em to be home alone while I work.
The Force is strong with this one.
MTFBWY!
Omg that makes me feel so bad for my buddy when I leave For work :(
I'm sure he's happy to see you when you come home though :)
Beags are very social and don't like to be alone for long, but there are training techniques & other approaches available that can help them relax.
Thanks for watching!
Sing it Beastie, sing it!! Great video. Getting an insight view of Beast's activities while you were out, and seeing Beast's joyful "Honey, I'm home" greeting. 💙🐾
Thank you so much! I can only hope this video lays enough guilt on my DogDad to ALWAYS take me with him wherever he goes!
Ours looks for us and panics. She has to be crated.
Crates are a good way to keep them safe, as well as provide a space that's just for them. Being alone can be tough on dogs, especially more social breeds like beagles 🐶💗
Honey, I'm home!!😂❤

Planning to bring my beagle another friend in a couple of years.. Probably a Goldie..
I'm sure your dog will enjoy having a new friend!

Ahaha! Love the mid day howling! Too cute!
Thanks! The acoustics by the window really fill out the room with "ROOOOOO!"
Lovely video, thank you for sharing this to us.
I'm glad you liked it! Thank you for your support! :)
Plot twist: The dog is really a werewolf 😎
Considering how he also wolfs down his food, you might be on to something there :)

THE POOR NEIGHBORS!!!!!!! The poor dog
Luckily, most of the neighbors like most of his songs most of the time😁 Luckier for him, he's usually not home alone long enough or frequently enough anymore for him to be too upset for too long🐶
The poor neighbors are lucky that a Beagle lives next door to them, and not a crappy old pitbull.

Sooooo 😢
Mine doesn't do this in the house
Glad to hear it; some dogs (even beags) do fine when left on their own. Thanks for stopping by & have a great day!
Turn on Animal Planet when you leave it’ll help him.😊
I'll have to try that, thanks! 🐶☺
I to have a beagle I never leave him
Hopefully there's dog friendly places nearby where you can take him with you 😊 Beast goes to daycare if nobody can look after him when I'm going to be gone for too long.
Give your beag a hug for us!💗🐶

How about when you leave him for 5 hours?
He has been left home alone that long before. He's not a fan of it so I try not to do it very often, as he is very social and likes to be where everyone is. Behaviors for him being alone that long include what you see here: sleeping, sulking, occasional howling, but also stress panting. He is always happy to see me come home. I do leave a quiet TV or music on for him as well as toys that use food to keep him busy, and that does seem to help keep him occupied.
Honey, I’m home.

They are a very social breed, for sure.

can beagles live alone for hours ??
Great question! Generally, beagles are social and like to be around their people, but with a little practice they can be left alone for a few hours. A few tips: practice leaving him home alone for short periods of time then slowly build up the time you're away, leave quiet music or a TV on for them, and durable food based items like stuffed Kongs can help keep them occupied while you're away.
@@BeagleBabyBeastie can they live for 5 hrs alone ??

I don't think it is a good idea to leave him watching through the window.
Is there any particular reason why?
@@BeagleBabyBeastie because they see people come and go, and they want to go out. So they get very anxious when they can't do it.
