Love your Death shirt, Niamh. You went from cool prog nerd into even cooler prog and other stuff nerd, and that's good. Hello from across the puddle (Ireland). May all your albums be comfort albums.
Animals, Meddle and Piper are the PF I go back too the most, with Animals admittedly at the top. I know the 2018 remix is divisive among fans, but as per the Beatles remixes, I just love having 2 versions of a brilliant album to choose to play, depending on my mood. Comfortably Numb aside, It's a shame that Gilmour rarely (if ever) returned to that vicious, visceral tone he got on the album, though he's still my favourite guitarist of all-time and the reason why I picked up the instrument. Lionheart and Never For Ever by Kate Bush are definitely 2 other comfort albums that always get me me good.
Great albums! 1 The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway 2 The Dark Side Of The Moon 3 My Favorite Things (Coltrane) 4 Abbey Road 5 In The Wee Small Hours 5 Low 6 Bocanada 7 Islands (KC) 9 London Calling 10 Ants From Up There
Great list. Animals is an album I have been going back to for decades and I don’t think that will ever change. Red is a heavy metal song that doesn’t know it’s a heavy metal song, but it’s absolutely phenomenal and I also think it’s the best King Crimson album and one I come back to a lot. Others for me would be Script for a Jester’s Tear by Marillion, Stupid Dream by Porcupine Tree and Heavy Horses by Jethro Tull.
Nice list, Niamh! “Comfort albums” is a good theme! Couldn’t restrict myself to 10 items, but these are albums that always embrace me like an old friend: Horslips - Aliens, Live at the O2 Genesis - Nursery cryme, Seconds out, Trick of the tail, Selling England Camel - Mirage, The snow goose, Moonmadness Rush - A farewell to kings Jethro Tull - Live bursting out, Thick as a brick Styx - The grand illusion Gruppo Sportivo - 10 mistakes Dire Straits - Love over gold City Boy - Young men gone west Nina Hagen - Nina Hagen band Renaissance - Live at the Carnegie Hall Pink Floyd - Animals, Pulse Gentle Giant - Octopus
I'm right with you with "by the way." Been a huge Chili Peppers fan since the late 80's and to me this is their best. Extremely under rated. While not as flashy as some of their catalog, it's the subtleties that make this album pop. Catchy as hell, but when deep listening the true brilliance can be heard! Great pick, & great list. Thanks!
I never thought about comfort albums. It may not even include some of my favorite bands. I'll give it a try but cheat by adding two: 12) Earth, Wind & Fire - All 'n All 11) The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour 10) The Cars - The Cars 9) Pink Floyd - Meddle 8) The Moody Blues - Long Distance Voyager 7) 10,000 Maniacs - Our Time in Eden 6) Cheap Trick - Rockford 5) ELO - Time 4) Yes - Close to the Edge 3) The Police - Reggatta de Blanc 2) Blue Oyster Cult - Fire of Unknown Origin 1) Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
A good balancd list. I have so many albums I go back to again and again, some are for comfort, some for a 'release', and some just becasue. But a random album list of some of the more played albums in my collection include, but not exclusive to... Porcupine Tree - Deadwig Rush - Hemispheres Opeth - Watershed Genesis - Selling England by the Pound Dream Theater - Images & Words Tesseract - Polaris Mother of Millions - Artifacts Marillion - Script for a Jester’s Tear IQ - Ever Metalica - Master of Puppets Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement
Good choices. Some of my favorite records for moments of comfort: 1) Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway 2) XTC - Skylarking 3) Ralph Towner - Solstice 4) Eno - Music for Airports 5) John Abercrombie Quartet - Artcade 6) Talk Talk - Spirit Of Eden 7 ) King Crimson - Islands 9) Jethro Tull - Stand Up 10) Bjork - Vespertine
"Since I Left You" by Avalanches- (legendary sampling and songcraft, transitions are sublime) "American Water" by Silver Jews (Berman's lyrics and Malkmus guitar playing make for great alt-country) "Clube da Esquina" by Clube da Esquina (a creative peak of socially conscious, contemporary Brazilian music that's just a beautiful listen) "Just Got Back From The Discomfort...We're Alright" by Brave Little Abacus (experimental and progressive emo that I personally love, not for everyone) "The Black Saint and The Sinner Lady" by Charles Mingus (classic jazz staple and the big band arrangements are both gritty and graceful) "Cheat Codes" by Danger Mouse and Black Thought (more recent east coast hip-hop, but the atmospheric production and lyrical deliveries are on-point) "Down Colorful Hill" by Red House Painters (Kozelek controversy notwithstanding, the heartfelt songwriting and melodies are woven seamlessly) "In The Land of Grey and Pink" by Caravan (a more underrated prog album that has one of my favorite songs ever ("Nine Feet Underground")) "Perfect from Now On" by Built to Spill (I just love the band's guitar production overall and this album of theirs is my favorite.) "Strange Times" by The Chameleons (Not a perfect post-punk album, but I think their experimentation with dream-pop elements was very influential)
A little Magic happens when you are talking about the Pink Floyd album Animals , as there is a dog barking in the background , how apropos, a comfort album for us here!
Your list is incredible, i loved it, my 10 comfort albums are - and ranked from least to most comforting. 10. my bloody valentine- loveleless- the atmosphere hits like nothing else. Its so kntricate and amazing. 9. Deftones- saturday nighr wrist- one ive come to love and its just that warm atmosphere that makes me love it more than pretty much any other deftones album, i just think overall its so strong, im not too huge on pink cellphone but its funny so ill let it slide, the rest of it is awesome. 8. Bicep- isles- just a really relaxing electronic release that i love hearing every time i listen to it, its so nice and always hits me in the feels. 7. Kate Bush- The Art of Dreaming- really relaxing and just like a comfort blanket to listen to. 6. Fred again...- actual life3- my favourite electronic album of recent years, every song is so comforting znd emotional to me, as well as being dancable and fun. Just a pure post lockdown jam that is about that feeling of finally being able to live again after isolation and an amazing wrap up to the actual life series. 5. Jamie XX- in colour- my favourite modern electronic album, the emotional moments just hit like in seesaw and strangers in a room nd the hopeful moments like good times are so fun, every song is full of colour and joy, even at the dark times which is a real testament to that title. 4. Paramore after laughter- what i find to be the best album using the happy songs with sad lyrics concept, i just love the contraast that songs like hard times and fake happy offer, as well as pool, 26 and tell me how being less fun and more somber and emotional, this one really gets me in the feels and yet its one ive been coming back to for comfort since it came out. Its helped me from early teens and adolescence all the way to adulthood which is really crazy to think about. But i do love it so much. 3. The weeknd- dawn fm- this one has always comforted me, its the immersive soundscape that i love and just feel really wins me over as well as the dark themes the album can have, it has a lot of light to it too but it definitely feels darker at times. It flows so nicely as an album, it is really tight and the songs and interludes do such a good job at telling a narrative of the radio show in purgatory. As well as this, swedish house mafia have inclusions on this album and they provide some of the most tasteful tracks on it, how can i make you love me is incredibly enticing and has beautiful synthwork, not every track stands out but all flow amazingly well together and that consistency and huge production the album has is why it is so high here, i am drawn to immersion and atmosphere, as well as production heavy songs and i love how this album does this so well. 2. Neck deep- lifes not out to get you- this album throughout my late teens and early teens was the comfort blanket i needed, but when i did embrace it and its message it just felt good, as ateen i did love pop punk and now im not as huge on it but this albums messaging and energy is on point, and its hopeful insight into dealing with hardship and trauma and trying to get through it is something ive needed multiple times and im glad that I could listen to it and take on its message as a mantle, gold steps is definitely my favourite pop punk song for its lyrical content, i dont think anything comes close to it. 1. Chvrches- every open eye- just the most relaxing and upbeat synth pop album i have ever heard and i love every second of it, it has the bangers such as leave a trce and clearest blue but it has emotional moments like high enougn to carry you over which i really gravitated towards in lockdown, just really solid. Honourable mention is queen of the stone age's songs for the deaf, like dawn fm this is one that priortises album flow rather than standout moments and those albums which olay out like a journey or hour long radio show really do appeal to me. The band also kill it with riffs and bonkers interludes to add to the theme, the music is incredible.
Great albums, good for comfort for sure Animals, 1977, Dortmund, Germany. PF played Animals, Wish you were here, and two tracks from The dark side of the moon. Yes, the inflatable Pig floated (and some aeroplane as well). One of my fave live shows.
Inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest (did not watch the final) I bought Vicky Leandros' album "Aprés Toi" from 1972 on Discogs. Not one weak song is on that album. There is also a new band in The Netherlands: Hiqpy. They have not released anything yet. They have a YT channel with just two songs, but there are some live perfomances as well on YT. When they release an EP or album, I am sure that will be by comfort album Also: Ray LaMontagne - Ouroboros. Meskerem Mees - Julius Oracle Sisters - Hydranism Nana Adjoa - Big Dreaming Ants Robin Kester - This Is Not A Democracy The Gathering - Nighttime Birds Beth Orton - Stolen Car Terry Callier - Occasional Rain
Not a huge prog fan, but I do have a prog comfort album. “A better land” by Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express. Check it out if you haven’t already. You might enjoy it.
"Comfort" is a bit different from favorite, isn't it? For some reason, I listen to Camel's 1st album often-- I don't think it's their best at all, but it's fun and the CD version sounds great on headphones. I'd also choose Brian Eno's *Before & After Science* & Los Lobos' *Kiko,* which may be their best & is certainly one of the best American rock albums ever. (I need to visit your Discord soon!)
1) Mike Westbrook - Glad Day 2) Kenny Wheeler - Music for Large and Small Ensembles 3) Chris Laurence Quartet - New View 4)Annette Peacock - Sky Skating 5) Nick Drake - Bryter Later 6) Azimuth - '85 7) Genesis - Selling England... 8) Steve Hackett Spectral Mornings 9) Charlotte Gainsborough - 5.55 10) Mike Westbrook - The Cortège
Sanctitude by Katatonia. Listening to Jonas is like being wrapped in a woolly blanket, I find his voice very soothing. Also love his vocals on Devonian Nascent by The Ocean Collective and the hidden track on Wisdom of Crowds, his album with Bruce Soord.
Speaking of the greatest prog album of all time, I'd definitely put Rush's Clockwork Angels on my comfort list. I'm a huge Rush fan and I absolutely adore all of their albums, but there's something about Clockwork Angles that really captures me.
Great list, Niamh! I actually heard that Have a Nice Life album a few years back and have been meaning to give it another listen, so thanks for refreshing my memory of it. Here's 10 albums I certainly consider "comfort albums" to be sure: - The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd (1973) - Chris Isaak - s/t (1987) - Is This Desire? - PJ Harvey (1998) - Dots and Loops - Stereolab (1997) - Auto Reconnaissance - The Tangent (2020) - On Your Own Love Again - Jessica Pratt (2015) - Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys (1966) - White Bread, Black Beer - Scritti Politti (2006) - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out - Yo La Tengo (2000) - Within the Realm of a Dying Sun - Dead Can Dance (1987)
Nice list! Mine are: Air - Pocket Symphony The Mars Volta - Nocturniquet Gojira - Magma Tool - 10000 Days as well Weyes Blood - Titanic rising (your tip a while back) John Frusciante - To Record Only Water for Ten Days Animals As Leaders - Weightless Tigran Hamasian - The Call Within Elliott Smith - Figure 8 Tame Impala - Innerspeaker
Nice shirt and Interesting list for sure! I would include Nursery Cryme, Human (although might sub Symbolic or TSOP) and maybe unironically even Jagged Little Pill. Animals maybe also (even though I'm not a PF at all) and for Tool I would pick AEnima which is definitely a top 10 comfort album for me although I never got into any of their other albums.
I´ve been watching your videos for quite a while now but never commented. Just want to say thank you and hats off. I love the fact that there are young people out there that are into record collecting and like and discover old and new music. You seem to be pretty resistant to "bully commenters" trying to bash you for your taste, your stereo equipment or whatever. Just stay true to your heart and soul! Cheers from Germany.
Great list! Here are mine in no particular order Orbit Culture-Descent The Devil Wears Prada-Color Decay Vildhjarta-Masstaden Under Vatten Invent Animate-Heavener Meshuggah-ObZen Trivium-In The Court Of The Drgon Metallica-Master Of Puppets Animals As Leaders-The Joy Of Motion System Of A Down-Toxicity Lorna Shore-Pain Remains I know there’s a lot of depressing albums in my list but they all make me super happy and at ease :)
Thanks for the cool recommendations Niamh! Here's my top 5 comfort albums: 1. Nirvana - Nevermind 2. Nick Drake - Bryter Layter 3. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Freaky Styley 4. Philip Glass - Glassworks 5. The Stone Roses - Self Titled
What albums will I repeat-listen end to end over and over, based on what I actually do, rather than what I'd like to say I do? A Trick Of The Tail - Genesis. Lionheart - Kate Bush. Nashville Skyline - Bob Dylan. Silk Degrees - Boz Scaggs. The Turn Of A Friendly Card - Alan Parsons Project. In The Wee Small Hours - Frank Sinatra. Songs For The Deaf - QOTSA. Born In The USA - Bruce Springsteen. On The Beach - Neil Young. Guilty - Barbra Streisand.
You don't have to explain or justify loving "ANIMALS". Loving "Animals" is self-explaining. Same with "RED". Can't pick a favorite Tool album, but I'm going to buy that Gojira one. Thanks for the heads up!
Pretty nice list. Perhaps a list of your favourite music youtubers be a good video topic. I like a lot of guitarists, in particular, 2Sich and a host of others.
Maybe i dont really grasp the "comfort album" concept. I take it as more of a mellowness thing. From that perspective, my favorite Pink Floyd comfort album is obscured by clouds. Maybe even the soundtrack from the film More, which has weaker songs compositionally but is a very chill album.
5 off the top of my head. Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd On Fire-Galaxie 500 The Perfect Prescription-Spacemen 3 Trespass-Genesis Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy-Elton John.
Yes. Fragile. Pfm.Jet Lag. Mr Big. Photographic smile. David Bowie. Hunky Dory. Lou Reed Transformer. Paul and Linda McCartney. Ram. Gentle Giant. Free Hand. Elton John. Caribou. Genesis Foxtrot Queen A night at the opera. Go back to these again and again
No particular order: 1)Blind Melon Soup 2)Tool Fear Inoculum 3)Candlebox Lucy 4)Kyuss Welcome To Sky Valley 5)Pink Floyd The Wall 6)Iron Maiden (any of them, but I'll say Live...After Death) 7) Fleetwood Mac The Dance 8) Dream Theater Awake 9) Faith No More Angel Dust 10) Tool 10,000 Days Also 10) Mastodon Crack The Skye
@nickspann89 thank you sir, though 15 minutes after making that list I thought of 10 more albums that could replace all 10 of my original choices haha...we are blessed with great music.
Agree about Nursery Cryme, a true classic. Have you given Procol Harmum a full listen? Please give a repeated hearing to 'Shine on Brightly' through 'Home'. Some really moving songs there.
I just listened to this. What a fucking banger album. Man it's a lot to digest. A commenter on yt summed it up perfectly. "Sounds like Zappa and Jaco joined Fates Warning, took acid and recorded the best prog metal ever!"
In no order... Traffic john barleycorn Supertramp crisis what crisis Anglagard hybris Synergy (Larry Fast) pretty much anything Kraftwerk autobahn Holst the planets---yes classics are good too,lol Yes relayer ELP pictures The Monkees head Cat stevens catch bull at four
Love Supertramp and Traffic as well. Though I personally prefer "Crime of the Century" because I really like Davies' work on there. I'm also seeing a recent trend in Yes fans preferring "Relayer" over "Close to the Edge", and I can see why. I think the former's second half is more thematically consistent and makes for a smoother listen.
Interesting list, and I appreciate your descriptions - even of the albums I know well. Yeah, Björk… Listening to her, it’s like: this is Björk’s world, we just live in it! Since you mentioned that you enjoy trip-hop, have you heard the new Beth Gibbons album, “Lives Outgrown?” It still has some of that Portishead vibe, but quieter, more intimate, yet rich and complex. Progressive, without being “Prog.”
Probably one of the best singer-songwriter albums ever released. His dad was pretty good, too. Though I've heard they didn't have a great relationship.

Couldn’t restrict myself to 10 items, but these are albums that always embrace me like an old friend:
Horslips - Aliens, Live at the O2
Genesis - Nursery cryme, Seconds out, Trick of the tail, Selling England
Camel - Mirage, The snow goose, Moonmadness
Rush - A farewell to kings
Jethro Tull - Live bursting out, Thick as a brick
Styx - The grand illusion
Gruppo Sportivo - 10 mistakes
Dire Straits - Love over gold
City Boy - Young men gone west
Nina Hagen - Nina Hagen band
Renaissance - Live at the Carnegie Hall
Pink Floyd - Animals, Pulse
Gentle Giant - Octopus
Ah yes! "Mission a Paris" from Sportivo, Horslips' "Sure the Boy was Green," City Boy's "The Man Who Ate His Car" many good choices there.
I'll give it a try but cheat by adding two:
12) Earth, Wind & Fire - All 'n All
11) The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
10) The Cars - The Cars
9) Pink Floyd - Meddle
8) The Moody Blues - Long Distance Voyager
7) 10,000 Maniacs - Our Time in Eden
6) Cheap Trick - Rockford
5) ELO - Time
4) Yes - Close to the Edge
3) The Police - Reggatta de Blanc
2) Blue Oyster Cult - Fire of Unknown Origin
1) Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
I absolutely adore Animals by Pink Floyd, especially the outro of Sheep....a phenomenonal piece of music
so true about “summery” feeling on by the way! my favorite rhcp album too
and thanks for introducing me to have a nice life a couple of months ago!
A good balancd list.
I have so many albums I go back to again and again, some are for comfort, some for a 'release', and some just becasue.
But a random album list of some of the more played albums in my collection include, but not exclusive to...
Porcupine Tree - Deadwig
Rush - Hemispheres
Opeth - Watershed
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
Dream Theater - Images & Words
Tesseract - Polaris
Mother of Millions - Artifacts
Marillion - Script for a Jester’s Tear
IQ - Ever
Metalica - Master of Puppets
Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement
Good choices. Some of my favorite records for moments of comfort:
1) Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
2) XTC - Skylarking
3) Ralph Towner - Solstice
4) Eno - Music for Airports
5) John Abercrombie Quartet - Artcade
6) Talk Talk - Spirit Of Eden
7 ) King Crimson - Islands
9) Jethro Tull - Stand Up
10) Bjork - Vespertine
"Since I Left You" by Avalanches- (legendary sampling and songcraft, transitions are sublime)
"American Water" by Silver Jews (Berman's lyrics and Malkmus guitar playing make for great alt-country)
"Clube da Esquina" by Clube da Esquina (a creative peak of socially conscious, contemporary Brazilian music that's just a beautiful listen)
"Just Got Back From The Discomfort...We're Alright" by Brave Little Abacus (experimental and progressive emo that I personally love, not for everyone)
"The Black Saint and The Sinner Lady" by Charles Mingus (classic jazz staple and the big band arrangements are both gritty and graceful)
"Cheat Codes" by Danger Mouse and Black Thought (more recent east coast hip-hop, but the atmospheric production and lyrical deliveries are on-point)
"Down Colorful Hill" by Red House Painters (Kozelek controversy notwithstanding, the heartfelt songwriting and melodies are woven seamlessly)
"In The Land of Grey and Pink" by Caravan (a more underrated prog album that has one of my favorite songs ever ("Nine Feet Underground"))
"Perfect from Now On" by Built to Spill (I just love the band's guitar production overall and this album of theirs is my favorite.)
"Strange Times" by The Chameleons (Not a perfect post-punk album, but I think their experimentation with dream-pop elements was very influential)
A little Magic happens when you are talking about the Pink Floyd album Animals ,
as there is a dog barking in the background , how apropos,
a comfort album for us here!
Great albums, good for comfort for sure
Animals, 1977, Dortmund, Germany.
When they release an EP or album, I am sure that will be by comfort album
Also: Ray LaMontagne - Ouroboros.
Meskerem Mees - Julius
Oracle Sisters - Hydranism
Nana Adjoa - Big Dreaming Ants
Robin Kester - This Is Not A Democracy
The Gathering - Nighttime Birds
Beth Orton - Stolen Car
Terry Callier - Occasional Rain
A little into your Floyd Animals reveal the dog barking outside your open window was a bit of a 'doo doo doo doo' moment!
1) Mike Westbrook - Glad Day
2) Kenny Wheeler - Music for Large and Small Ensembles
3) Chris Laurence Quartet - New View
4)Annette Peacock - Sky Skating
5) Nick Drake - Bryter Later
6) Azimuth - '85
7) Genesis - Selling England...
8) Steve Hackett Spectral Mornings
9) Charlotte Gainsborough - 5.55
10) Mike Westbrook - The Cortège
Here's 10 albums I certainly consider "comfort albums" to be sure:
- The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd (1973)
- Chris Isaak - s/t (1987)
- Is This Desire? - PJ Harvey (1998)
- Dots and Loops - Stereolab (1997)
- Auto Reconnaissance - The Tangent (2020)
- On Your Own Love Again - Jessica Pratt (2015)
- Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys (1966)
- White Bread, Black Beer - Scritti Politti (2006)
- And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out - Yo La Tengo (2000)
- Within the Realm of a Dying Sun - Dead Can Dance (1987)
Nice list!
Mine are:

Weyes Blood - Titanic rising (your tip a while back)
John Frusciante - To Record Only Water for Ten Days
Animals As Leaders - Weightless
Tigran Hamasian - The Call Within
Elliott Smith - Figure 8
Tame Impala - Innerspeaker
magma is so so gooood! great list!
@@the_prog_nerd Thanks!
Great list! Here are mine in no particular order
Orbit Culture-Descent
The Devil Wears Prada-Color Decay
Vildhjarta-Masstaden Under Vatten
Invent Animate-Heavener
Meshuggah-ObZen
Trivium-In The Court Of The Drgon
Metallica-Master Of Puppets
Animals As Leaders-The Joy Of Motion
System Of A Down-Toxicity
Lorna Shore-Pain Remains
I know there’s a lot of depressing albums in my list but they all make me super happy and at ease :)
elite picks !!!!
Thanks for the cool recommendations Niamh!
Here's my top 5 comfort albums:
1. Nirvana - Nevermind
2. Nick Drake - Bryter Layter
3. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Freaky Styley
4. Philip Glass - Glassworks
"I think I said Mentality to many times" LOL!!!!!!! Haaaaa!!!!!!!
Wishbone Ash - argus and MJ's off the wall
Nice to see more prog-nerds out there! Not the 70s punk Death from Detroit I'd gather?
Pretty nice list. Perhaps a list of your favourite music youtubers be a good video topic. I like a lot of guitarists, in particular, 2Sich and a host of others.
Maybe i dont really grasp the "comfort album" concept. I take it as more of a mellowness thing. From that perspective, my favorite Pink Floyd comfort album is obscured by clouds.
Maybe even the soundtrack from the film More, which has weaker songs compositionally but is a very chill album.
5 off the top of my head.
Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd
On Fire-Galaxie 500
The Perfect Prescription-Spacemen 3
Trespass-Genesis
Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy-Elton John.
Yes. Fragile. Pfm.Jet Lag. Mr Big. Photographic smile. David Bowie. Hunky Dory. Lou Reed Transformer. Paul and Linda McCartney. Ram. Gentle Giant. Free Hand. Elton John. Caribou. Genesis Foxtrot Queen A night at the opera. Go back to these again and again
No particular order:
1)Blind Melon Soup
2)Tool Fear Inoculum
3)Candlebox Lucy
4)Kyuss Welcome To Sky Valley
5)Pink Floyd The Wall
6)Iron Maiden (any of them,but I'll say Live...After Death)
7) Fleetwood Mac The Dance
8) Dream Theater Awake
9) Faith No More Angel Dust
10) Tool 10,000 Days
Also 10) Mastodon Crack The Skye
Noice selection, I can cosign on all of these.
My memory doesn't seem to be working; here's today's most comfortable album OF ALL TIME:
Spiral Architect - A Sceptic's Universe
I just listened to this. What a fucking banger album. Man it's a lot to digest. A commenter on yt summed it up perfectly.
"Sounds like Zappa and Jaco joined Fates Warning, took acid and recorded the best prog metal ever!"
Not heard them but I love the Sabbath song so will check it out
Seven Stones is in my top five of recorded songs. ever! Maybe my No 1.
comfort album is a strange term for me. all the music i own is to soothe me, comfort me, cheer me up etc...
If comfort means singing along and air guitar, it's Black Sabbath Vol 4. If comfort means not thinking, it's Tangerine Dream's Phaedra.
Hey Niamh! Did you manage get a ticket for Gilmour???? I'm seeing him first night of his tour at RAH can't wait!!!
In no order...
Traffic john barleycorn
Supertramp crisis what crisis
Anglagard hybris
Synergy (Larry Fast) pretty much anything
Kraftwerk autobahn
Holst the planets---yes classics are good too,lol
Yes relayer
ELP pictures
The Monkees head
Cat stevens catch bull at four
Love Supertramp and Traffic as well. Though I personally prefer "Crime of the Century" because I really like Davies' work on there. I'm also seeing a recent trend in Yes fans preferring "Relayer" over "Close to the Edge", and I can see why. I think the former's second half is more thematically consistent and makes for a smoother listen.
‘Relayer’ has become my favorite Yes album in the last 10 years. Takes a few listens.
Animals and Björk for sure 🙌🏼
Grace by Jeff Buckley for me. Never heard a voice that good before or since.
brilliant record!
Probably one of the best singer-songwriter albums ever released. His dad was pretty good, too. Though I've heard they didn't have a great relationship.
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day 😊❤
Nice list. Lots of great music. Some of mine are,
Argus Wishbone Ash
Obscured by Clouds Pink Floyd
Wish You Were Here Pink Floyd
In Our Nature Jose Gonzalez
I Forget Where We Were Ben Howard
Bridge of Sighs Robin Trower
Morning Phase Beck
Powerslave Iron Maiden
Diary of a Madman Ozzy Osbourne
Awaken the Guardian Fates Warning
Love Wishbone Ash. Guitar work is phenomenal. Their work is on par with the American contemporaries, perhaps the Allman Brothers and CSNY?
Good video , your hair looks cool 😎
