Welcome back Jack Toledano! 1- Sade - Diamond Life 2- Sting - Ten Summoner's Tales 3- Men At Work - Business As Usual 4- Blur - Park Life 5- Magnum - Vigilante
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas the beauty of Liz' voice with the shimmering melodies are divine. She laid the vocal tracks down while holding her newborn daughter. What could be more comforting than that?

Comfort albums? 1. Beatles - The White Album 2. Supertramp - Even in the Quietest Moments 3. Frank Zappa - One Size Fits All 4. Genesis - Wind and Wuthering 5. 10cc - Original Soundtrack There you go! These albums are not my all time favourites except The White Album (my fave of all time) but they do make me super happy.
Rush: "Permanent Waves", Yes: " Close to the Edge", The Who: " Quadrophenia" , Grateful Dead: " Terrapin Station". These albums make me feel good while at the same time do a bit of contemplating of life! Thanks Pete for all your great topics! 👍😊 Oh, and AC/ DC: "If you Want Blood..." just because it kicks ass!
Meet The Beatles and A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles December's Children and Aftermath - The Rolling Stones Who's Next - The Who Ram - Paul & Linda McCartney All Things Must Pass - George Harrison American Beauty, Go to Heaven, and In The Dark - Grateful Dead
All things must pass? Great album, but one of the most upbeat songs is called the art of dying. It's a majestic beautiful album, but too solemn to me for this list. Ram is a contender for sure.
@@catsofsherman1316 I know what you mean about All Things Must Pass. However, that's one of those albums for me that is "comfort food". If you're looking for upbeat songs on that album, don't forget about Wah-Wah, What Is Life, Awaiting on You All, and Apple Scruffs...especially What Is Life. If What Is Life doesn't put one in a good mood, I don't know what will.
In no particular order, these are "go-to" full albums for me... Master of Puppets - Metallica Back in Black - AC/DC Boston s/t Moving Pictures - Rush Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Bon Jovi - New Jersey Nickelback - All The Right Reasons Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears & No Rest For The Wicked Black Sabbath - Sabotage & Heaven and Hell Foo Fighters - Concrete and Gold 🥇 Judas Priest - Painkiller & Screaming for Vengeance Iron Maiden - The Book of Souls Live - Birds of Prey Metallica - S&M Megadeth - Th1rt3en Awesome video guys! Keep up the good work! Also, I loved Pete's comment about pizza! It is my comfort food too 🍕🍕🍝🍔. Have a great day guys! 😎
New Jersey, absolutely. Metallica - S&M, perfect. Not a huge Nickelback fan but Follow You Home, the opening track from All The Right Reasons, that opening drum fill/guitar riff...yeah. Gets me every time. Good choices here.
I listen to the first Cars album fairly regularly. It's not one of my go-to albums for a bad mood, but I always finish that album feeling happier than I did when I started it.
Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti The Doors L.A Woman AC/DC Highway To Hell The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers Billy Joel The Stranger CCR Green River Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here Allman Brothers Band Live At Fillmore East Aerosmith Toys In The Attic ZZ Top Tres Hombres
Pete ends with my number one choice too! From the moment I started to watch this show, Boston's 1st album was the first thing I thought of. So mine are: 1. Boston - Boston 2. Yes - Close To The Edge 3. Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Toad 4. The Cars - The Cars 5. Van Halen - Van Halen There it is... fun show!
Dream Theater - Images and Words (Such a bright sounding album for being metal, and Take the Time in particular is very uplifting) Boston - Boston (One of the greatest debuts ever like you said) Greg Graffin - Millport (I don't typically listen to folk, but when it's Bad Religion's vocalist I'm all for it)
Funny how music touchs people in different ways. Some albums commonly known as depressing ones (Floyd's The Wall and Alice in Chain's Dirt) being picked as pick me up albums. I do understand that, sometimes (not always) The Cure's Disintegration sounds like feel good music to me.
Immediately thought of Duke and was very pleasantly surprised to see Pete mention it. Also, Heaven and Hell was another great choice that I hadn't thought right away. One band that wasn't mentioned that always gets me in a great mood is ELO. Great video, guys!
This list goes from classical, to soul and jazz, hard rock and metal, and more, and the "music moods" in these albums range from upbeat and sunny to very dark and brooding, but in different ways, all of these albums have helped me to find encouragement, and have "picked me up," especially in some times of serious struggle and discouragement: Chopin: "The Etudes," Maurizio Pollini, the 1972 album. Astonishing performances that still amaze me. Yes: "Close To The Edge." This album has helped to bring me out of deep, dark places more than once. Miles Davis: "In A Silent Way." This music brings such peace and serenity. Gil Scott-Heron: "Pieces of a Man" Some very dark songs, and some very uplifting ones. They have all helped me greatly. Earth, Wind & Fire: "Gratitude" is my favorite live album by any band of any genre. Some great studio tracks too! Ohio Players: "Skin Tight" and "Honey." Incredibly funky, with some absolutely beautiful slower songs. The Allman Brothers Band: "Eat A Peach." So much beauty, so much soul, so many great guitar solos! Led Zeppelin: "Houses of the Holy, "Physical Graffiti," and "In Through the Out Door." Beauty, rock, and much more. Steely Dan: "Pretzel Logic" and "Aja." Sheer musical bliss and brilliance that always make me feel better. The Doobie Brothers: "The Captain and Me" and "Takin' It To the Streets." I love both "versions" of the band. Cheap Trick: The first album, "Heaven Tonight," and many others, but especially those two. So good! Van Halen: The first album, "Diver Down," and "1984" are musical anti-depressant meds for me! The Free Design: "Kites Are Fun" Sheer, gorgeous, child-like beauty with great harmonies. I love it so much! Black Sabbath: "Vol. 4" Yes, it actually encourages me and picks me up! :-) It helps me to feel less alone. Jethro Tull: "Bursting Out" Another great live album, and a very rocking and fun one. I love classic Tull! Motorhead: "No Remorse." My favorite compilation album from any metal band. Pure adrenaline! Marvin Gaye: "What's Going On" This album has comforted me and uplifted me when no other music could.
I saw that request posted on the comments in one of your recent videos. I says a lot about how well you interact with your followers. This video itself is a pick me up.
The Hooters always makes me happy. If you feel a little low and you put on Nervous night and it kicks of with "And we danced" every things just goes brighter.
What a great topic for discussion and thanks to Craig, Jack and Pete for picking such diverse albums. Interesting that Christmas evokes such strong positive memories but admittedly I could pick A Charlie Brown Christmas as one to listen to during any time of year. It always brings me a smile. And Pete's number one is mine as well and for the same reasons all three of you list. Loved this album from the first time I heard it and, like each of you, I have never tired of hearing any of the songs or the entire album even after 45 years. But for picking albums other than those two, I would have to say: 11/17/70 - Elton John The Captain and Me - The Doobie Brothers [so glad to see Pete included this] Breakfast In America - Supertramp Get Happy - Elvis Costello & The Attractions Turnstiles - Billy Joel Many more but if Greatest Hits albums are allowed, the Greatest Hits by Sly & The Family Stone. Many thanks, guys, for an interesting show and more music for listening.
The Beatles - Abbey Road Faces - A Nod is as Good as a Wink to a Blind Horse Rory Gallagher - Irish Tour 74 Genesis - Selling England by the Pound Alice Cooper - Welcome to my Nightmare
I agree with Jethro Tull - Songs From The Wood.and Stand Up also The Who - Who’s Next BÖC - Cultosaurus Erectus AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Bachman Turner Overdrive - Not Fragile Nazareth - Hair of The Dog, Malice in Wonderland and Playin The Game Budgie - Squawk Probably over played but Rush - Moving Pictures
Great topic guys, a definite "pick me up" episode from SOT My list: Van Halen II Boston - Don't Look Back Oasis - Definitely Maybe The War On Drugs - A Deeper Understanding KISS Alive Thanks for all you guys do!
Jackyl - Jackyl Offspring - Americana Manowar - Fighting the World Wildside - Under The Influence AC/DC - Dirty Deeds WASP - Electric Circus Christmas Album - Spike Jones Christmas. Grew up on that and still listen to it every year and the songs just make you laugh. Probably soon to be a forgotten album as it's from like the early 1900's but am grateful it's part of my story.
A couple of.mine were picked... KISS - Rock and Roll Over Judas Priest - British Steel Some more are... Yes - 90125 Rush - Signals UK - UK Genesis - Foxtrot Black Sabbath - Seventh Star Alice Cooper - From the Inside
Black Gives Way to Blue - Alice in Chains. I know it is a Dark album but cool thing about AiC is their songs are often in past tense so it means they overcome something. It gives a kind of tinge of hope because it helps on a bad day. Women and Children First - Van Halen. Light hearted, fun songs, good party music always up lifting. Queen - News of the world. Queen is the ultimate power of positive thinking band. This album defines that concept to T! Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti - Yes, this is my favorite Zep Album but this also a very uplifting album for most part. Helps you escape a bad day for so long. Beatles - Revolver - always an album that put me in a good mood.
1. Phil Keaggy and Glass Harp self titled first album 2. 10cc-The Original Soundtrack 3. The Moody Blues-On the Threshold of a Dream 4.Band Maid-(their brand new album) Unseen World 5. Bebop Deluxe-Sun Burst Finish 6.My Mulligan for 5 is Billy Cobham-Cross Winds 7.Ok I got a double Mulligan. Toto IV always lifts me. 8. All albums by Bill Evans albums.
Good choices by everybody. For me Dave Mason (1974) I bought it when it came out and still listen to it. Great rendition of All Along the Watchtower as well
Great topic🤘🤘🤘 you have to keep this going Pete...and shuffle thru all your other co hosts...the more I think about it I could just keep adding to my list...🤘🤘🤘🤘
Tom Waits once said, alleegedly (lol), that one should always try to get some food or something in the lyrics .. p'raps a home town or two .. :-). Food for the soul .. most of the Opeth albums .. good for severe pain too, depression all sorts .. :-)

Cool topic Pete! Here are my 5 (from different genres): John Coltrane - A Love Supreme, Stones - Black and Blue, Thin Lizzy - Black Rose, Miles Davis - In a Silent Way, Brad Mehldau - any solo piano album. As a happy rock album I would add - Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet.
Nils Lofrgen Acoustic Live. Frank Zappa Grand Wazzoo. Probably any Jethro Tull album but if we have to pick one Crest of a Knave just because that's the first album that came out after I discovered them. Elton John's Greatest Hits. Black Sabbath Vol 4, which when I was a kid was my first metal, but also gave me permission to be a not happy kid, and that permission is very uplifting.
Hi Guys. Jack, I agree with you on Hammerfall and Pete, I agree with you on Black Sabbath. Here is my list. 1. Rob Zombie - Past, Present and Future 2. Rammstein - Mutter 3. Symphony X - Iconoclast or Odyssey 4. Metal Allegiance - Metal Allegiance 5. Nightwish - Once 6. BOC - Secret Treaties
Can you make a video about your favorite supermarket or Wal-Mart songs that get played over their audio systems . The other day I heard Stevie Ray Vaughn " look at little sister " at the Food for less supermarket
1. Fear of the dark - Gordon Giltrap 2. Point of know return - Kansas 3. Mother Focus - Focus 4. Birds of fire - Mahavishnu Orchestra 5. Breakaway - Gallagher & Lyle 6. Switch - Golden Earring. And beyond that, I love "best ofs" by Styx, The Hooters, Eagles etc
I love that Jethro Tull Christmas album too!. And Royal Scam by Steely Dan is great too. Others that I love are Close to the Edge - Yes, Clearly Love - Olivia Newton John, Still Crazy after all these years - Paul Simon, Obsession - UFO, and Lovedrive - Scorpions
Todd Rundgren- Something/Anything Kate Bush- The Hounds of Love Jethro Tull-Thick as a Brick Steven Wilson-Hand Cannot Erase David Bowie-Hunky Dory Tori Amos-Little Eathquakes
5. Eric Johnson- Venus Isle (One of my favorite guitarists nowadays, and also managed to pull off a record that's quite soothing and therapeutic aside from being absurdly technical) 4. Tom Petty- Full Moon Fever (Man, if Tom can't lighten the mood no one can... Some childhood favorites here as well) 3. Rush- Test for Echo (Not necessarily one of their best albums, but a very wholesome and positive vibe record I really connect with) 2. Alice in Chains- Jar of Flies (Cheating a bit with an EP but whatever... Not only does it bring back childhood memories, but the music itself is a little warmer and heartfelt despite AiC's usual underlying gloominess 1. Van Halen- 5150 (Aside from Dreams, which is probably motivational anthem #1, Van Halen in general had this ability to make music that makes you imagine that you're in a tropical paradise... Max positive vibes from this) *I could probably squeeze in Autograph and Journey here, and the Boston debut also crossed my mind...
The Who - Tommy Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy Pink Floyd - Obscured by Clouds Judas Priest - Stained Class Journey - Journey "First time my Mother heard this, she got sad." Boston - Boston Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind The Doors - Strange Days Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy Styx - Equinox "Light Up!" Rush - 2112 Scorpions - Lonesome Crow Santana - 3 Yes - Close to the Edge Genesis - Foxtrot Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards Metallica - Kill Em All Megadeth - Rust in Peace Kansas - Kansas Fleetwood Mac - Then Play On Deep Purple - Fireball There are many Albums out there that will pick me up.
It is mostly hardrock for me. As I listen to a lot of darker and heavier stuff (and sometimes dark and not so heavy), it is some kind of nostalgic happiness in a lot of hardrock bands I need in between the darker stuff David Lee Roth : Eat em and smile Ratt : Reach for the sky Blackfoot : Strikes The Wildhearts : P.H.U.Q. Love/Hate : Blackout in a red room
I tried, but I couldn't keep this list very short. I have selected 25 albums that lift my spirits, and/or leave me feeling refreshed once I've listened to them. Even with that, there are tons more not listed; I certainly can't think of them all. Here I go: Queen - The Game The Beatles - Please Please Me The Beach Boys - All Summer Long Magma - Zëss Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine Yes - Talk Sly & the Family Stone - Stand! The 5th Dimension - Up, Up and Away Mandrill - Composite Truth King of Pop - Invincible Saturday Night Fever - Soundtrack Squeeze - East Side Story Utopia - Self-Titled 1982 album KISS - Psycho Circus Aerosmith - Pump King's X - Faith Hope Love Fishbone - The Reality of My Surroundings Saxon - Solid Ball of Rock Peter Tosh - Bush Doctor Daft Punk - Discovery Enya - The Memory of Trees Basia - The Sweetest Illusion Capercaillie - Delirium Amy Grant - Heart in Motion Two Steps from Hell - Battlecry Jónsi - Go Mr. Mister - Welcome to the Real World Crash Test Dummies - God Shuffled His Feet I lied - it was 28 albums. Excellent topic!
Albums can transport us to a long-past time in our lives. For me, it's Nugent's Double Live Gonzo. Listened to it in 1979 at the beach just after graduating from HSl. Total energy, excitement, full-on let-it-all-hang-out jamming. Everyone within a block heard it.
Yes - Tormato Boston - 1st Focus 3 Santana - Moonflower Camel - Rain Dances Honourable mentions - New Trolls -- Concerto Grosso trilogy Live; Jon Lord - Sarabande; BOC-Spectres; Uriah Heep- Fallen Angel; Genesis - A Trick of the Tail; John Miles - Zaragon; Deep Purple- Made in Europe; Rainbow - Down to Earth; Abba - Greatest Hits; Thin Lizzy- Jailbreak; Meat Loaf- Bat out of Hell
SONGS FROM THE WOOD (Jethro Tull):Celebratory........2) NAKED AND WARM (Bill Withers).......3) SKYLARKIN (XTC):.Summer sun , Greener than green; buzzing bees, love 4)ONE MAN DOG (James Taylor).......5) "OUTSTRETCHED HAND ALBUM" (Santana)
I'm with Pete...I would pick albums that are 'nostalgic'. Those albums that take me back to a different time...when I was young, dumb, & didn't have a care in the world. That said, the Jethro Tull Christmas album is a terrific pick. The Captain & Me & Steely Dan are also great picks.
I have many, but here are five that immediately come to mind: 1) Saturday Night Fever - original motion picture soundtrack 2) Missing Persons - Spring Session M 3) Young/Holt Unlimited - Soulful Strut 4) Triumph - Allied Forces 5) Journey - Frontiers
Great topic, love songs from the wood. How about for a topic list least favorite to favorite albums covers from the same band or artist. Just a thought, love the channel.
Wow difficult topic indeed, as I am like all of you thinking of songs first to be lifted up. So albums??? But when I start to think of albums (I am really an album guy), still a lot comes to mind. Not a lot of it in the metal genre, because I want to be lifted up, not become agressive, :-). First and fore most I would listen to an artist called Randy Stonehill. His albums Welcome to Paradise, Return to Paradise, Celebrate this Heartbeat, and Lazarus Heart always make me smile again and sing along. Another artist is John Michael Talbot, especially his quieter albums, like Troubadour of the Great King, Songs of Worship 1 and 2, and Come to the Quiet always lift me up. But obviously, these artists show where I am coming from, :-). Within Rock/Pop music there are several albums that lift me up and I would play when I am down: Wishbone Ash: Argus Nightwish: Human | Nature, the second CD Chris de Burgh: Crusader (and probably some other albums by him as well) Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe Jon Anderson: 3 Ships (a Christmas album) Jon and Vangelis: Short Stories, The Friends of Mr.Cairo, Private Collection Dan Fogelberg: Phoenix, Homefree, and Nether Lands Jackson Browne: Late for the Sky, For Everyman Al Stewart: Year of the Cat Clannad: Sirius Simon and Grafunkel, Live at Central Park Supertramp: Even in the Quietest Moments Oh my I forgot one band: Pavlov's Dog: Pampered Menial, At the Sound of the Bell A third "style"of music would be in the classical music area: Barok music (Vivaldi, Bach), Gregorian chant
all right, stay with me here. i'm a song person too. but if i had to pick a specific full album to change my mood, these are it: Kings of leon - sex on fire Unleash the archers - apex Lindsey Stirling - self titled 2012 Lady Gaga - the fame The story so far - proper dose Blink 182 - self titled 2003 Kamelot - epica/the black halo Lacuna coil - shallow life Blue oyster cult - spectres
I find comfort albums for me end up being the ones I grew up with. My parents played all of these now that I think about it. I'm sure there's some kind of meaning there, lol. Linda Ronstadt-Greatest Hits Rolling Stones-Sticky Fingers The Beatles-Abbey Road Chicago-First album and Chicago Transit Authority (Can't decide) I'm compiling this list while listening and damnit, I have to include Billy Joel and Elton John. Billy Joel-The Stranger (Scenes From An Italian Restaurant is my favorite as well) tied with: Elton John-Goodbye Yellow Brick Road These are in no particular order.
Great choices Pete! Love Tull, especially Songs from the Wood. And as you well know by now, anything done by Kansas in the '70s immediately makes me feel delighted. By far and away my favorite band - outstanding musicians all & amazing orchestral progressive compositions by the incomparable Kerry Livgren.
Great topic! My five Albums to "Pick Me Up": Queen - A Night at the Opera Europe - Wings of Tomorrow Whitesnake - Whitesnake 1987 ZZ Top - Eliminator Kingdom Come - In Your Face
Boston - Debut Kiss - Double Platinum Raspberries - Best Genesis - Abacab ZZtop - Deguello Beach Boys - Pet Sounds Beatles - Rubber Soul The Cars - Debut Deep Purple - Machine Head Queen - Greatest Hits
A few off the top of my head: Genesis - Selling England By The Pound Traffic - Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys Boston - S/T Ramones - S/T or Rocket To Russia BOC - Agents Of Fortune or Fire Of Unknown Origin Zombies - Odyssey & Oracle Anything by The Grateful Dead (Seattle 05/21/1974 is a favorite) Faster Pussycat - S/T Junkyard - S/T Todd Rundgren - Something/Anything Lou Reed - Transforrmer Joyce Manor - Off All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired (I had to come back just to add this.)
I was thinking of The Low Spark album but that song is one of those odd songs that makes me veg out. I can be driving and all of the sudden I forget if I stopped at a stop light or wonder how I got somewhere. Love it but it makes me stupid, love when a song does that to me.
Really enjoyed the video guys and it's really inspired me to pick these albums up and give a listen on my off days so thank you! :) Here are my 5 Picks 1. The Wild The Willing And The Innocent - UFO 2. Hello - Status Quo 3. A Farewell To Kings - Rush 4. Images And Words - Dream Theater 5. Hysteria - Def Leppard Honourable mention to Who's Next - The Who and Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy, fantastic albums :)
Good one Pete, Going For The One is definitely a comfort album for me. Also, basically anything by Todd and The Moody Blues (core 7 of course). The Who Sell Out, Kinks Village Green and Eno Tiger Mountain always make me happy. There's several "difficult double lps" that get me through trying times: The Lamb, Topographic and Cardiacs' Sing To God.
Lots of my favourites have already been listed so I'll add that good Reggae never fails to put me in a good mood, Bob Marley and his Exodus album in particular. Anything from Black Uhuru, Steel Pulse, Peter Tosh, Third World, and UB40 works too.
1. Quiet Riot- "Metal Health": No matter how bad of a mood I'm in or how depressed I feel, this album always picks me up. 2. Meat Loaf- "Bat Out of Hell": The operatic vocals are a great pick-me-up. 3. ZZ Top- "Eliminator": It's not my favorite album by them, but this album just seems to give you that "swag" when you're down. 4. The Tractors, self-titled: Very catchy songs and every single one of them is easy to sing-along with. 5. Billy Squier- "Don't Say No": Love Bobby Chouinard's drumming on this album, and air-drumming along with it really picks me up.
Great topic. I think this will turn out to be a favorite for a lot of people because it makes you really think about music you have loved consistency over the long hall. I’m older than you Pete so my soft spot is the 60’ & 70’s. I always seem to go there for comfort. My comfort albums mostly come from that era. I think you should revisit this topic, maybe even with the HVS. I’m more of a greatest hits guy, but the two albums I go back to, even today are, Crosby Stills and Nash, first album and CSNY déjà vu....
Just listened to one today....Eliminator w/tracks like Need U Tonight,I Got The Six,Thug,TV Dinners,If I Could Only Flag Her Down....how could that not pick you up? Other mentions: Ride The Lightning - Metallica/Audio Visions - Kansas/Fair Warning - Van Halen/Brother - Cry Of Love.
AC/DC - Back In Black AC/DC - Powerage Metallica - Master Of Puppets Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard Of Ozz Van Halen - Van Halen II honorable mentions: Iron Maiden - Number Of The Beast Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss Motley Crue - Too Fast For Love KISS - Hotter Than Hell Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction.... etc etc etc. lol
Idea for a video, Pete.... All time Perfect Albums start to finish... (Like Boston’s debut album) Edit: I wrote this before you mentioned them, which goes to show you that I watched every minute! Great show!

Jack - The Jazz Age (a little known British band) 3. ABC - Lexicon of Love (unashamedly!) 4. Air - Moon Safari (I know - French 90s synth?) 5. the beauty of Liz' voice with the shimmering melodies are divine.
She laid the vocal tracks down while holding her newborn daughter.

McCartney is where Paul really made his solo statement, but Ram is where he hit a stride!
A absolute gem in Macca's solo cannon!
Soundgarden- Down On the Upside
Radiohead- In Rainbows
Supertramp- Crime of the Century
Yes- Relayer
Genesis- Foxtrot
In no particular order, these are "go-to" full albums for me...
Master of Puppets - Metallica
Back in Black - AC/DC
Boston s/t
Moving Pictures - Rush
Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Back in black great choice has nostalgia for me aswell my happy childhood.
Bon Jovi - New Jersey
Nickelback - All The Right Reasons
Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears & No Rest For The Wicked
Black Sabbath - Sabotage & Heaven and Hell
Foo Fighters - Concrete and Gold 🥇
Judas Priest - Painkiller & Screaming for Vengeance
Iron Maiden - The Book of Souls
Live - Birds of Prey
Metallica - S&M
Megadeth - Th1rt3en
Awesome video guys!
First TWO CARS albums, but probably , I’m biased. BENJAMIN ORR - I loved his vocals. 👍💯
Best vocalist and the best songs!
@@MorryB /. Definitely, pumps me up. For some reason , those two albums, remind me of @ cheerful Summer. Just my take 👍💯
I saw him solo in the 90's opening for Jules Shear in Minneapolis. Amazing.
I listen to the first Cars album fairly regularly. It's not one of my go-to albums for a bad mood, but I always finish that album feeling happier than I did when I started it.
Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti
The Doors L.A Woman
AC/DC Highway To Hell
The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers
Billy Joel The Stranger
CCR Green River
Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
Allman Brothers Band Live At Fillmore East
Aerosmith Toys In The Attic
ZZ Top Tres Hombres
Yeah man, Sticky Fingers really throws a stone or two!
Absolutely The Stranger👍🏽
Both Triumph albums Allied Forces and Never Surrender are filled with optimistic songs that always rock and lift spirits.
Great picks! You can also watch their performance at the US Festival to get ya goin'.
Pete ends with my number one choice too! From the moment I started to watch this show, Boston's 1st album was the first thing I thought of. So mine are:
1. Boston - Boston
2. Yes - Close To The Edge
3. Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Toad
4. The Cars - The Cars
5. Van Halen - Van Halen
There it is... fun show!
Great list
Good choices
Dave Matthews - Crash
Stones - Tattoo You
Steely Dan - Aja
Sinatra - A Swingin Affair
Billy Joel- Innocent Man
Yes, Tattoo You especially side two. (of course Aja)
In addition to Crash, Under The Table And Dreaming would qualify too (especially The Best of What's Around).
Dream Theater - Images and Words (Such a bright sounding album for being metal, and Take the Time in particular is very uplifting)
Boston - Boston (One of the greatest debuts ever like you said)
Greg Graffin - Millport (I don't typically listen to folk, but when it's Bad Religion's vocalist I'm all for it)
Definitely agree with IAW.
Wow, great choices! Boston's debut is my #1 all-time, and DT Images and Words is my #3!
Pick me up.
1. Live and dangerous - Thin Lizzy
2. Anything with AC/DC
Thanks guys.
You made me go back and listen to so many of these artist again.
Brilliant show as always 👏
Funny how music touchs people in different ways. Some albums commonly known as depressing ones (Floyd's The Wall and Alice in Chain's Dirt) being picked as pick me up albums. I do understand that, sometimes (not always) The Cure's Disintegration sounds like feel good music to me.
Immediately thought of Duke and was very pleasantly surprised to see Pete mention it. Also, Heaven and Hell was another great choice that I hadn't thought right away. One band that wasn't mentioned that always gets me in a great mood is ELO. Great video, guys!
ELO's 'Out of the Blue' would be another great pick for my list!
This list goes from classical, to soul and jazz, hard rock and metal, and more, and the "music moods" in these albums range from upbeat and sunny to very dark and brooding, but in different ways, all of these albums have helped me to find encouragement, and have "picked me up," especially in some times of serious struggle and discouragement:
Chopin: "The Etudes," Maurizio Pollini, the 1972 album.
I would add Sketches of Spain too, beautiful album, hauntingly beautiful, agreed.
A masterpiece
But for picking albums other than those two, I would have to say:
11/17/70 - Elton John
The Captain and Me - The Doobie Brothers [so glad to see Pete included this]
Breakfast In America - Supertramp
Get Happy - Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Turnstiles - Billy Joel
Many more but if Greatest Hits albums are allowed, the Greatest Hits by Sly & The Family Stone.
Many thanks, guys, for an interesting show and more music for listening.
AC/DC-Powerage
AC/DC-Back In Black
Queen-Queen II
Metallica-Ride The Lightning
Judas Priest-Turbo
Turbo will make you happy whether one wants to admit it or not.
Nice! I picked the same two AC/DC records! lol \m/ And I was only off, by one Metallica album, I picked Puppets. lol
@@troyschoultz3654 Yeah. It's just real feel-good party music.😁

Jackyl - Jackyl
Offspring - Americana
Manowar - Fighting the World
Wildside - Under The Influence
AC/DC - Dirty Deeds
WASP - Electric Circus
Christmas Album - Spike Jones Christmas. Grew up on that and still listen to it every year and the songs just make you laugh. Probably soon to be a forgotten album as it's from like the early 1900's but am grateful it's part of my story.
This is a great list!!!

Definitely Maybe - Oasis
What’s The Story (Morning Glory) - Oasis

My band has been talking about doing that album front to back when concerts are allowed again.
Tom Waits once said, alleegedly (lol), that one should always try to get some food or something in the lyrics .. p'raps a home town or two .. :-). Food for the soul .. most of the Opeth albums .. good for severe pain too, depression all sorts .. :-)

1. Rob Zombie - Past, Present and Future
2. Rammstein - Mutter
3. Symphony X - Iconoclast or Odyssey
4. Metal Allegiance - Metal Allegiance
5. Nightwish - Once

Very nice, I definitely agree with you on the 2 Symphony X choices!! Thanks for watching.
@@allornadaaccordingtojack7601 Thanks for Responding Jack . I appreciate it.

5. Breakaway - Gallagher & Lyle
Glad you mentioned 'Yes' Pete as they immediately came to mind as did classic Chicago and Bruce Hornsby & Range.
Todd Rundgren- Something/Anything
Kate Bush- The Hounds of Love
Jethro Tull-Thick as a Brick
Steven Wilson-Hand Cannot Erase
David Bowie-Hunky Dory
Tori Amos-Little Eathquakes
5. Eric Johnson- Venus Isle (One of my favorite guitarists nowadays, and also managed to pull off a record that's quite soothing and therapeutic aside from being absurdly technical)
4. Tom Petty- Full Moon Fever (Man, if Tom can't lighten the mood no one can... Some childhood favorites here as well)
3. Rush- Test for Echo (Not necessarily one of their best albums, but a very wholesome and positive vibe record I really connect with)
2. Alice in Chains- Jar of Flies (Cheating a bit with an EP but whatever... Not only does it bring back childhood memories, but the music itself is a little warmer and heartfelt despite AiC's usual underlying gloominess
1. Van Halen- 5150 (Aside from Dreams, which is probably motivational anthem #1, Van Halen in general had this ability to make music that makes you imagine that you're in a tropical paradise... Max positive vibes from this)
*I could probably squeeze in Autograph and Journey here, and the Boston debut also crossed my mind...
The Who - Tommy
Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy
Pink Floyd - Obscured by Clouds

Tattoo [Rory Gallagher], Atom Heart Mother [Pink Floyd], Ummagumma [Pink Floyd], As Your Mind Flies By [Rare Bird], After The Goldrush [Neil Young]
It is mostly hardrock for me. As I listen to a lot of darker and heavier stuff (and sometimes dark and not so heavy), it is some kind of nostalgic happiness in a lot of hardrock bands I need in between the darker stuff
David Lee Roth : Eat em and smile
Ratt : Reach for the sky
Blackfoot : Strikes
The Wildhearts : P.H.U.Q.
Love/Hate : Blackout in a red room

Great show, guys, and some good picks.
Foghat Energizer, UFO Force It, Kiss Alive, Boston...to name a few
I tried, but I couldn't keep this list very short. I have selected 25 albums that lift my spirits, and/or leave me feeling refreshed once I've listened to them. Even with that, there are tons more not listed; I certainly can't think of them all.
Here I go:
Queen - The Game
The Beatles - Please Please Me
The Beach Boys - All Summer Long
Magma - Zëss
Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine
Yes - Talk
Sly & the Family Stone - Stand!
The 5th Dimension - Up, Up and Away
Mandrill - Composite Truth
King of Pop - Invincible
Saturday Night Fever -

Two Steps from Hell - Battlecry
Jónsi - Go
Mr. Mister - Welcome to the Real World
Crash Test Dummies - God Shuffled His Feet
I lied - it was 28 albums. Excellent topic!
I was hoping someone would bring up Boston’s debut. Heard it a bazillion times and it has never, ever gotten old.
I love classic rock hard rock heavy metal...... but Elvis's music from the 50s always makes me feel up happy and great
Albums can transport us to a long-past time in our lives. For me, it's Nugent's Double Live Gonzo. Listened to it in 1979 at the beach just after graduating from HSl. Total energy, excitement, full-on let-it-all-hang-out jamming. Everyone within a block heard it.
Yes - Tormato
Boston - 1st
Focus 3
Santana - Moonflower
Camel - Rain Dances
Honourable mentions - New Trolls -- Concerto Grosso trilogy Live; Jon Lord - Sarabande; BOC-Spectres; Uriah Heep- Fallen Angel; Genesis - A Trick of the Tail; John Miles - Zaragon; Deep Purple- Made in Europe; Rainbow - Down to Earth; Abba - Greatest Hits; Thin Lizzy- Jailbreak; Meat Loaf- Bat out of Hell
Montrose I
Byrds "Mr. Tambourine Man"
"Chuck Berry's Greatest Hits"
Beatles "Rubber Soul"
"Diary of a Madman"
Rubber Soul...absolutely.
I have many, but here are five that immediately come to mind:
1) Saturday Night Fever - original motion picture soundtrack
2) Missing Persons - Spring Session M
3) Young/Holt Unlimited - Soulful Strut
4) Triumph - Allied Forces
5) Journey - Frontiers
Blues Magoos-Electric Comic Book, Beatles Sargent Pepper, XTC-Drums and Wires, NRBQ with Carl Perkins, Todd Rundgren-A Wizard A True Star.
Within Rock/Pop music there are several albums that lift me up and I would play when I am down:
Wishbone Ash: Argus
Nightwish: Human | Nature, the second CD
Chris de Burgh: Crusader (and probably some other albums by him as well)
Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe
Jon Anderson: 3 Ships (a Christmas album)
Jon and Vangelis: Short Stories, The Friends of Mr.Cairo, Private Collection
Dan Fogelberg: Phoenix, Homefree, and Nether Lands
Jackson Browne: Late for the Sky, For Everyman
Al Stewart: Year of the Cat
Clannad: Sirius
Simon and Grafunkel, Live at Central Park
Supertramp: Even in the Quietest Moments
Oh my I forgot one band:
Pavlov's Dog: Pampered Menial, At the Sound of the Bell
A third "style"of music would be in the classical music area: Barok music (Vivaldi, Bach), Gregorian chant
all right, stay with me here. i'm a song person too. but if i had to pick a specific full album to change my mood, these are it:
Kings of leon - sex on fire
Unleash the archers - apex
Lindsey Stirling - self titled 2012
Lady Gaga - the fame
The story so far - proper dose
Blink 182 - self titled 2003
Kamelot - epica/the black halo
Lacuna coil - shallow life
Blue oyster cult - spectres
Great Show I have to add Idlewild South .Revival always puts a smile on my face
Honestly, it's whatever I'm into at the time.
I find comfort albums for me end up being the ones I grew up with. My parents played all of these now that I think about it. I'm sure there's some kind of meaning there, lol.
Linda Ronstadt-Greatest Hits
Rolling Stones-Sticky Fingers
The Beatles-Abbey Road
Chicago-First album and Chicago Transit Authority (Can't decide)
I'm compiling this list while listening and damnit, I have to include Billy Joel and Elton John.
Billy Joel-The Stranger (Scenes From An Italian Restaurant is my favorite as well) tied with:
Elton John-Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
These are in no particular order.
My five Albums to "Pick Me Up":
Queen - A Night at the Opera
Europe - Wings of Tomorrow
Whitesnake - Whitesnake 1987
ZZ Top - Eliminator
Kingdom Come - In Your Face
Boston - Debut
Kiss - Double Platinum
Raspberries - Best
Genesis - Abacab
ZZtop - Deguello
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Beatles - Rubber Soul
The Cars - Debut
Deep Purple - Machine Head
Queen - Greatest Hits
A few off the top of my head:
Genesis - Selling England By The Pound
Traffic - Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys
Boston - S/T
Ramones - S/T or Rocket To Russia
BOC - Agents Of Fortune or Fire Of Unknown Origin

Faster Pussycat - S/T
Junkyard - S/T
Todd Rundgren - Something/Anything
Lou Reed - Transforrmer
Joyce Manor - Off All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired (I had to come back just to add this.)
I was thinking of The Low Spark album but that song is one of those odd songs that makes me veg out. I can be driving and all of the sudden I forget if I stopped at a stop light or wonder how I got somewhere. Love it but it makes me stupid, love when a song does that to me.
Slash with Myles Kennedy. Not often mentioned anywhere but goddamn what a band of uplifting rock.
Really enjoyed the video guys and it's really inspired me to pick these albums up and give a listen on my off days so thank you! :)
Here are my 5 Picks
1. The Wild The Willing And The Innocent - UFO
2. Hello - Status Quo
3. A Farewell To Kings - Rush
4. Images And Words - Dream Theater
5. Hysteria - Def Leppard
Honourable mention to Who's Next - The Who and Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy, fantastic albums :)
Boston - self-titled and "Don't Look Back" (tie)
Dream Theater - "Images and Words"
Judas Priest - "Hellbent for Leather"
Meat Loaf - "Bat Out of Hell"
Motley Crue - "Dr. Feelgood"
Really good choices!!
The Stranger...great pick! Before watching this I would not have chosen it, but soon as it was mentioned then I thought "Yeah!"
AC/DC - Back In Black
AC/DC - Powerage
Metallica - Master Of Puppets
Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard Of Ozz
Van Halen - Van Halen II
honorable mentions:
Iron Maiden - Number Of The Beast
Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss
Motley Crue - Too Fast For Love
KISS - Hotter Than Hell
Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction.... etc etc etc. lol
Idea for a video, Pete.... All time Perfect Albums start to finish... (Like Boston’s debut album)
Edit: I wrote this before you mentioned them, which goes to show you that I watched every minute!
Great show!
CCR pendulum, ZZ TOP fandango, Montrose, Foghat Live, jackson Browne, running on empty
In no particular order (some may strike you as odd but...you know...music is personal (which is why it's fun talking about it)
1. The Rollins Band - Get Up Go Again
2. Jack - The Jazz Age (a little known British band)
3. ABC - Lexicon of Love (unashamedly!)
4. Air - Moon Safari (I know - French 90s synth?)
5. April Wine - Stand Back or Harder, Faster (I pulled a mulligan like you, Pete - I just couldn't decide!)
Honourable mentions: Black Sabbath Paranoid, Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, Dire Straits Love Over Gold
There are my choices (eyebrow raising though they might be).
