Variety is the spice of life, as the cliche goes. We love your channel for you and the other genres of music that you listen to and promote that I otherwise wouldn't have heard of. Long may it continue.🥰💚🌱
Great video. I've been with your vids since the beginning and have enjoyed your opinions and insight. Also, your Dad is great. I'd love to have a pint with him one day. If I could recommend one music genre to try it would be bluegrass and it's pioneers such as Ralph Stanley or Bill Monroe. Then check out banjo player Bela Fleck who has played bluegrass, jazz, rock, classical and everything in between. (Post was longer than I intended) 😂 Keep listening and letting us know what you like.
As an old Deadhead, I am bound to also mention "Old and In The Way" (band and album). And also, a landmark of a new generation taking up the torch, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's monumental triple album "Will the Circle Be Unbroken".
Happy 17K subscribers! And I hope you check out some early Kraftwerk...their third album _Ralf & Florian_ in particular is fantastic; one of the best all-instrumental albums I've ever heard.
Long time subscriber and first time posting! Something a little different from New Zealand, a 1970's prog rock group called Ragnarok not to be confused with the Norwegian Metal band of the same name. The New Zealand group produced two albums one self titled and the 2nd is called Nooks. Have a listen if you get a moment 😊
@niamh the prog nerd excellent video. I do apologise for the lack of communication but I have been very busy. Look forward to seeing your next update ❤
Congrats on the new milestone! Here's to many more and it's well deserved! Awesome answers to these questions. Btw, I did like that Behemoth album, but I thought The Satanist is a stronger album and one of the best albums from the last decade. I liked some of the material and respect the ideas, so it's still an enjoyable album.
Love that Iron Maiden poster. I've seen Iron Maiden live opening for Kiss. Yep, Paul D'Anno was on vocals, and he was great. Actually, the whole band was greater than Kiss. Oh well. Nowadays they want trillions of money for a gig, I don't go to concerts anymore.
I'm here since u reviewed the band camel in one of yr videos the song Lady fantasy is Still of one the best songs in prog history in my opinion and yea i kinda started listening to metal same as u lol and i love gojira so much specially global warming and stranded i settled now with doom gothic atmospheric metal after listening to loss by Saturnurs that song changed my music taste and made me love metal and started listening to stuff like katatonias older album "brave murder day" and some of swallow the sun songs like "hope " sorry for all the yapping lmao and yea i love ur content peace ✌️
Nice of you to mention Tool. Some people are confused why Tool is Prog. They remind me of King Crimson, and some Rush. I know that you said that your dad doesn't like stuff like Deftones. To me, an album like White Pony has some Prog shades. I also think that A Thousand Suns by Linkin Park is proggy
A.) John Wetton RULES (!) "Exiles" from U.S.A. alone proves that... B.) Glad to hear that the channel has led to some positive abilities for you. I have heard you say that you have had to deal with some genuine negativity from it, and am glad there's another side to it.
Hello Niamh. Congratulations on getting 17000 subscribers. I have a confession to make to you: I cheated so you can have these many subscribers. I am subscribed to your channel twice. Last year, my cell phone broke and I had to replace it. I re-subscribed to your on my new phone.
Congratulations on quitting smoking 🚬 Niamh ! I did in 2022. I occasionally have dreams about a Camel 🐫 or Silk Cut but I have successfully resisted buying a packet.
Prog is everywhere you can find imagination and willingness to try things. A lot of traditional "prog" is pretty adverse to it, sticking more to the form than to the spirit. Then again, I'm always been one of those who though King Crimson were the only "true" progressive band in the 70s. Prog should be a mindset, not a codified genre
Quitting smoking was my new years resolution as well, been a month and a half with no cigarettes. Keep up the good work!
Nice one, good for you!
Me to! Prog via 2112, Animals and Meddle! I do also have to throw in Close to the Edge! Great to see you again Nimah!

hey Niamh ! congrats!
If you like heavy groove riffs Karma to Burn Almost Heathen is a good listen, instrumental band as well (mainly) which is unusual.
