Hey everyone! Thank you for watching, subscribing and sharing/liking this video! What has helped my hair theeee most on my wash day is prepooing with coconut oil for at least an hour (sometimes overnight) and detangling my hair with lots of conditioner. My hair is thick so it needs it. 💜
I use warm water cause when I wash my hair in cold water it has my hair ruff and hard. I apply Conditioner to my scalp all my life and it never do my scalp anything.
Prepooing definitely has helped… I have tried many oils among other things (unfortunately my hair doesn’t react well to coconut oil) i think my fav so far is aloe Vera gel mix with avocado & a few drops of peppermint oil. 🥰

I am a full-time student, so I definitely want to work on finding more time to pre-poo before washing, especially as we move further into the winter. My hair is on the high porosity side, and I've noticed that doing an initial wash with Sulfur 8 to remove product buildup and a secondary shampoo with Aussie (7-in-1 at the moment) has been a game changer for retaining moisture. I've also been using the PMP method taught on this channel and using hair grease as a sealant. It's made such a difference for me this semester!
I’m guilty of washing my hair with hot water, then I wonder why my scalp is so itchy after a couple of days. I won’t be doing that again. 🤦🏾♀️ Thank you , these tips are really helpful 👌🏾
Great video. One tip that has tremendously helped me was after I rinse out my condition I do an oil rinse with grapeseed oil. I saturated my hair with oil then rinse with cool water. I suffered from dry hair and this has helped me out so much!!!
Thank you for that tip, I'll try that because my hair get super tangled it takes hours to undo most of the tangles and even then there's tangles by my Scalp😔
I started using the African Pride prepoo 2 months ago and it’s now a staple. The slip is amazing and better than any conditioner I’ve ever used. I also use it to take down protective styles.
I shampoo once a week, and always use a scalp scrub with tea tree oil and my tangle teezer scalp exfoliator. I have a dry itchy scalp, and this has helped sooooooo much! Even better, I've noticed a lot less hair fall.
Thanks so much for these types of videos and it's lovely seeing you, as a black woman, making an effort to educate us with your expertise as a cosmetic chemist! Also, I love that these videos are short and say things that the general public will understand. I would love to see a collab between you and Afope (she's a trichologist).
Three tips that have helped my hair to retain moisture: 1) Using a gentle clarifying shampoo (Aunt Jackie's Intense Moisture Clarifying Shampoo) every 2 to 3 washes to get rid of build up. I never realized that my moisturizing shampoos weren't cleaning off the build up. 2) Using Malibu C Hard Water treatment packets once a month (in place of a clarifying wash) to combat the effects of hard water. 3) Applying conditioner to fully saturated hair so the conditioner traps all the extra water. Before I would work in sections and the last sections would be drier when I applied the conditioner. Now I make sure to go back and fully saturate my hair before I begin on those last sections.
I started combing my hair WAY more gently, and as I'm combing, I grip the hair just above where I'm pulling the brush/comb through to reduce tension and direct tugging on the scalp. My shed hair reduced by half in a matter of weeks.
Thank you for being the force behind the Positivity uplifting curly community. Piece of advice I can offer is to be patience in finding your routine. It’s going to take time.
I have been struggling with why my hair becomes so caked/flaky on top after a day or two of washing and i realize i put conditioner on my scalp!!! No more. This may relieve it. Thank you so much ❤️
Thank you I definitely learned something new today. 1 tip that I have is when my hair feels extra dry, using organic mustard seed oil as an oil treatment can really restore moisture to my hair. I notice that during the week it doesn't get dried out as easily.
@@teacheschem Could be, but too I notice this particular oil over some other oils I use don't seem to keep my hair as moisturized as long. I know in India they'll also use this oil to help keep them warm in winter months.
Using slippery elm and marshmallow root as a pre wash treatment. It helps tremendously in detangling my hair and less hair lose. Try it. It really works.
Should you double shampoo each wash day? Or under what circumstances? Advice: Using the “praying hands” method helps me to remove my shed hair in half the time, esp when wet. The water plus the motion seems to do the trick no matter how tangled my hair is beforehand 🤷🏾♀️
A conditioner with silicone is the best for my daughter. Love, love, love Tresseme. Her hair is 4B/C, LP and dense. Leaves it feeling hydrated, soft and manageable.
I’ve learned so much from you! I’ve learned what ingredients to look for in a shampoo. Knowing ingredients like cocomidopropyl betaine and C14-C16 olefin sulfonate are good ingredients in shampoo makes me much more confident in choosing a shampoo. Also….hair grease!!! And the PMP method after wash day has really improved the quality of my hair. So appreciative of you!!!
Good day. That tip about no hot water- I'm going to have to implement right away! What I've found helpful is to ALWAYS keep my hair in a stretched state, wash in twisted sections, medium twists hairstyles, and whenever I do twist outs- I keep the ends tucked. I never allow it to shrink up on itself, because if it does- with my 4c hair - it will tangle and get fairy knots, and that spells breakage.
I also do the same except for hot water. I also wash in 6 -8 sections. The only conditioner I use on my scalp is ayurverdic herbs. I am so grateful that I don't have issues with fairy knots
@@aquari129 While I have done it the way you're thinking already (washed my hair keeping it in medium twists- and it did clean, but a little lint remained) I meant that I wash my hair in 7 sections- 3 in front, 4 in the back- untwisting one at a time as I shampoo and condition while pulling it taut. It takes longer that way but so worth it, as it's tangle free! I keep it all twisted when rinsing out the conditioner though.
My go to products are soultanicals knot today sauce and camille rose honey 🍯 (now if I could just get them in salon sizes), no rinsing needed. Typical wash day: Cleanse *Protein treatment (when/if needed)* Leave in conditioner (see above) Seal with thick product (varies) ***Gel (optional /not often)
I have always washed my hair 3 times. My roots are thick and it takes some effort to clean the scalp properly. And I use highly recommended shampoos. But I trust you and I really wouldn't mind cutting down my washtime, so I am gonna retry the 2 wash plan but with an applicator bottle. Tomorrow is the day! Excited.
I really learnt about pre-poo from youtube videos, it's been a game changer for me. I mix my own, not always the same but the last one was Great: coconut cream, honey, conditioner (with a lot of slip) & a little diy oil, vitamin e oil & a few drops of essential oils of rosemary and teatree.
💫✨ A game-changer for me has been the application of grape seed oil on my hair after leave-in conditioner ; I also seal my ends with regular castor oil. I’ve noticed significant length retention and softer hair! 🤩 💫✨
I start my wash routine by sectioning my hair into four loose braids and securing ends with a small hair band. For the take down, love African Pride Pre-Poo. I wash in the kitchen sink with braids in! Then I take down each section, apply conditioner or deep conditioner, and twist/clip. Then I use my bag/heat cap while I do house or yard work. When I am ready, I shower, and rinse each section using my shower brush under running water. I keep in sections, apply my leave-in. Then style. Sections and detangling only under running water are key. Way less breakage, less hair loss in the drain, no tangles, less stress. Thank you Curly Chem for these amazing and practical videos. It's been 2.5 years into this natural hair journey. You have inspired me from the first week. Good luck ladies!
I already try to keep the water just barely warm enough during the wash process (partly because it takes a while, so I don't want to empty the hot water, lmbo), but I'll definitely see if I can start using cooler water for the rinse step. My hair has already benefitted a great deal from following your wash routine tips as it is. It's in much better shape than it was before, and I'm delighted with the improved health! Funnily enough, I'm now having to adjust to those changes…my hair porosity seems to have decreased now that it's less damaged, so I'm having to handle it a little differently, which I hadn't really considered much ahead of time. 😆 It's a great sign, though! My hair used to be hella porous instead and would dry out so quickly. XD
I agree, but For instance, my hair is low porosity, so I need warm wash, warm rinse. The warm water cleanses and Penetrate for my low porosity. I also noticed that hot oil treatments helps my hair a lot prevent the dryness and steaming opens up your pores and keep your hair moisturized.
One thing that has helped me in my hair journey is detangling in the shower with my tangle teaser and any low cost slippery conditioner(ausie moist, suave, Trader Joe’s). I save my detangling for wash day only which comes once a week 🥰
Protective styling helps my hair. Leaving it alone for two to three weeks allows my hair the rest. I start off with a great nurturing wash day and pamper my hair with interchangeable treatments. Then Lco method or Loc method and twist or braid my hair!!! Simplicity has been a win for me🙌
I have asked my stylist to keep the conditioner off of my scalp but it is like talking to a rock. I do have acne and seborrheic dermatitis too. I do ask her to apply the medicated shampoo with a nozzle and that seems to be helping. I say shampoo the scalp condition the hair but yeah no. My biggest game changer has been adding rosemary and peppermint to my deep conditioner and scalp oil.
I have learned so many things from watching your and other UA-cam channels. Perhaps my most recent gamechanger was washing my hair standing up in the shower instead of bending over the sink. It makes such a difference to detangling.
Wow thru research and experience I've discovered I'm the opposite 😱the shower water 🔥 and the sauna like conditions is a NO GO 🙅🏽♀️ for me and I have no probs with detangling when I do the whole process from start to finish....in sections
@@CurlyChemistry but while we are talking about things that make a huge diff...can we TALK ABOUT this *ACV* + *AVJ* + distilled water diy spray that melts thru my tangles like BUTTER when I use it prior to my hot oil treatments!!!??? 😍😍😍 **ACV=Apple cider vinegar **AVJ= Aloe vera Juice You won't catch me without it😅Best believe 💪🏽😜 it's def been a Game Changer for me personally!!!
Your hair length are my hair goals. Your hair length is the perfect length I seek. Pre-pooing with coconut oil & allowing it to sit overnight has really improved my wash day. Pre-pooing adds shine, softness and decreases tangles. I also enjoy using the Apogee 2 step protein treatment every 3 months. This protein makes my wash n gos last a week before I have to refresh my curls. Thanks for all your knowledge.
To get the best wash for me, I rinse my hair with just water(hot as I can stand), thoroughly for a few minutes before starting my shampooing routine( usually 2-3 wash/rinses with warm water. Then apply deep conditioning mask. I use hydrating/moisturizing 2-3 weeks in a row, then a protein mask once a month. I style my wash&go, and twist out with grease and moisturizing leave ins or styling creams/gels. When I had my hair relaxed(back in the day),grease was always applied to the scalp and massaged in after a wash and set. I love Aveda, Olaplex and really starting to falling in love with Curlsmith products!!!😍
Great advice! What has really helped is using aloe vera juice as a final rinse has tremendously helped my high porosity hair! It helps to close the hair cuticles. Your hair looks gorgeous Curly Chemistry!💜
Detangling and pre-pooing with flax seed gel really helps me kick start off my wash day. Especially after my hair has been in a protective style prior to the wash day.
One idea … be gentle with towel drying your hair. No excessive rubbing or brushing or pulling your hair. I want shiny, healthy looking hair and doing these things undermine my efforts. Great tips in your video! ❤️
If you haven't already, could you please do a video on how to increase hair density/thickness and decreasing hair shedding? My hair thinned tremendously and is a far cry from how thick it used to be. My last wash day, I lost so much hair I th out I was going bald.
I’m a baby boomer with salt and pepper hair, increasingly salt and pepper which forced me to change from the products I used to use. Now, I use a Curls shampoo and styling products. For a conditioner, I use Mrs. Jessie Leave-in Condish but I rinse most of it out because I find that too much conditioner will break off my fragile gray hair.✨
@@marblessed9597 tea rinses are beneficial for the elasticity of the hair! The tea coats the hair and strengthens it from excessive hair fall due to its high amount of caffeine present. It's to help prevent excessive hair fall and strengthen the hair when detangling. The hair is weakest while wet. So when you detangle your hair wet, you loose more hairfall than intended. This is why tea is the hero here, it helps minimize that excessive hair fall. It's used for this purpose. If you want to use it for its benefits allow the tea to sit in your hair for 20 minutes and then rinse it out.
While in the shower, I use a plastic cap to cover my hair after conditioner is applied. Thin I allow the water to run over the cap, which also feels like a head massage.
My hair LOVED being washed 2x a week. I use to do this often when I worked from home 3-4 days a week last year. But now work has flipped, I'm back in the office 3 - 4 days a week so it's tricky.
About a year ago I was looking for new wash day products. I decided on Emerge Mane Bestie leave-in, and Camille Rose Honey Hydrate. When I tell you, going back to my late 90s/early 2000s wash and go with these products has done WONDERS for my growth and length retention! So much so that I'm gonna get more Emerge conditioner (a little gits a loooooong way with the Camille Rose) and actually start using the Emerge Its Knot Happening shampoo.
What has helped my hair on wash day is patiently, gently, throughly, detangling my hair with my Aussie Moist conditioner I have found that this cuts down on tangles and using a squeeze bottle with the pointed nozzle allows me to get the shampoo on my scalp and ensuring my scalp is cleaned from product build up and I never scrub my scalp and hair rigorously just gently with my finger tips.
I won't push a specific product or tool because what may work for me may not work for someone else. But what has made a tremendous difference in my wash day is taking my time while detangling with a brush made for detangling. I use to detangle for hours with my fingers and light finger detangling just before going in with my detangling tool is still a must. But I try to use as little tension as possible when I'm detangling so I brush very slowly. I can detangle my kinky, tightly curled hair in about 40 minutes. You may think that's still too long but it beats hours. Blessings.
Prepoo, the interchange between both a moisturizing and clarifying shampoo(when needed). Also, adding my oil, leave-in, and styling product in the shower (a big game-changer for me)
One piece of advice that I just received is to finger detangle as you wash and the detangling process later down the road will be easier and that has been very true. I have also heard, now twice, to not use hot water on your hair. Thanks for that tip!!!
One thing that helped my low porosity hair is prepoo with fresh aloe vera and grapeseed oil OR prepoo with Taliah Waajid The Great Detangler leave-in conditioner & co-wash and grapeseed oil on day one. Leave it in my hair overnight. Morning of day two, I shampoo, deep conditioner, and style my hair. As I style my hair, I steam each section with Q-Redew before applying whatever products being used to style my hair. Now, that's been a game changer!! Tonya, your hair is GORGEOUS as usual!! You keep me inspired!!🥰
These tips are so so helpful. I've been making all 3 of those mistakes. It's time to make some changes. How can I condition the new hair's that are trying to grow in my bald areas without putting the conditioner on my scalp?
Is it scalp or hair? In that case water alone is fine with some jojoba over it to seal the moisture in or you can still use conditioner, lightly in that area just don’t apply too much to your bare scalp.
One thing I've learned on wash day is to pre-poo (I use organic coconut oil, and apply it the night before and then wash it out in the morning) also, I now section my hair (to do everything) it allows me to be more gentle with my hair and It eliminated so much breakage.
What has helped my hair the most is sectioning my hair on wash days. Thank you so much!! I really needed the information shared in this video. Thanks again🤩
Girl, the reasons you gave are exactly why my first rinses before and after shampoo are hot water... Is it bad? But I do do my final rinse after DC with cool/cold water though. My tip? Put a mirror in your shower guys... Life changing!
My "tip" (if you can call it that😂) may be weird but I use an applicator tip bottle and start my wash outside the shower in front of the mirror(hear me out lol...I struggle in the shower, I can't see anything, the shampoo gets in my eyes, the water gets cold, and my hair doesn't get clean like I want it😂, don't knock it till you try it okay? Okay). Then I massage with a dollar store massage comb, and rinse and condition and all that good jazz. Been a game changer fke me personally even if it's a bit weird lol.
@@denisemoore9316 lol me too but I don't like the sink because the water gets all down my back (when I tell you I be struggling....I. Be. Stru-Ga-Linnnnn😂) So that's a happy medium for me lol.

Wash day should not be a struggle or hassle ..befire washing your hair take the time to use aloe Vera gel as a pre poo to detangle and twist it up before hopping into the shower to wash …Saves you a lot of time and reduces breakage🥰
I 💕 the Ouai shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner for thick hair. It’s on the pricier side, but my hair feels amazing every time I use it. A close second is Design Essentials. They have great products as well.
Using a scalp massager and coconut oil and aloe helped my hair as a pre shampoo treatment. Coconut milk can also be added is conditioning. The scalp massager will help to gently clean the scalp without having to use to much shampoo.
Because my hair is high porosity I cold water and has a love hate relationship with wash day, I pre-poo with black castor oil base mix then I shampoo 2-3 times in warm water I alternate shampoos on wash day sometimes I'll us a clarifying shampoo or I'll use a moisturizing shampoo. Once done I use a thick hair lotion to and seal with oil I'll retain the moisture hair will feel soft and smooth for up to 4-5 days before I need to re-moisturize my hair again.
My tip is to detangle your hair after your pre poo, but before you wash & smooth in 1 direction when you shampoo. This has helped me as my hair gets longer & tangles easier.
What are your thoughts on covering or uncovering hair when taking a hot shower? is it okay for the steam to touch our hair, especially if we spray aloe Vera juice beforehand?
I have very fine, very curly dry hair (with 80% shrinkage!) and when I switched to Shea Moisture Manuka Honey line, it changed everything... I can now sport a wash-n-go and I don't look like a dried out poodle. I still have itty bitty curls but at least they look juicy now and feels so soft. Game changer!
I don't rush my wash days anymore lol ..I use to be all day on it ,arms hurting and I'm combining quick cause I'm tired (which breaks off my hair ) ...Now I have a two day process ..Day 1 I section and prepoo and detangle..Day 2 I wash( still in sections )deep condition then rise and twist my hair or blow-dry..Thanks for making me more mindful and careful with my hair.
In the last year I have started doing Henna masks on my hair on my wash days once a month when I take out my braids. Henna is transforming my hair. It was a shock to me. I didn’t expect instantaneous results but that is what I got.
@@reelovey I added Aloe Vera powder and a little Moringa powder as well but I can honestly say my hair didn’t feel as good as why=en I used the //henna on it’s own so now I don’t bother adding any other powders. For liquid I use Aloe Vera juice, sometimes sea moss gel. I add honey and a few oils, that’s it.
I recently started using a mix of aloe vera gel, flax seed gel and pear cactus gel all diy. I mix this into my leave in conditioner. Dears it was a bomb of moisture.
Me prepooing with my diy oil and some conditioner the night before wash day to detangle before washing makes my wash day routine sooooooo much easier and shorter but, sufficient.
What has helped my hair is the same as what has helped your hair, pre pooing with coconut oil or some type of oil! I leave the oil for about an hour or so. If I do it overnight for some reason my hair feels mushy.
In a previous video you mentioned using coconut oil for a pre-poo. I started doing this to avoid hydral fatigue. I am low porosity but I figure anything is possible... I faithful use my streamer on my dc and wash day is every 10 days not once a week or every 2 weeks. This helps my schedule because I am so busy and this way I don't feel so guilty for not hitting that weekly mark for wash day.
What about leave-in conditioners? Can we put that on our scalp? Also, if you don’t use conditioner on your scalp, what can we used instead? Thank you, girl! You’re awesome!
Hi, my name is Toni. I love your channel. Everything you mentioned in your video Is exactly what I’m using. You are so awesome. Your channel confirmed that I was on the right track. You broke it down how and why it works for my hair. I discovered another leave-in conditioner and I went crazy. To me it’s too expensive but at the same time it’s worth the money. (Does that make since?) It’s by Camille Rose Honey Hydrate. It literally looks like Honey! The ingredients is incredible. Number one on the ingredients: Honey, olive fruit oil, castor seed oil, aloe leaf juice, bilberry fruit, sugar cane, sugar maple, sweet orange fruit and lemon fruit extract. What is your opinion of this? I purchased it at Walmart for $13.33.
For me it’s doing everything in the shower. From cleansing to styling. This has cut down on time and getting the bathroom cleaner because everything is done in one area.
I’m going to have to stop using hot water. Maybe this is the cause of the fairy knots. Also I’m glad you said that grease isn’t bad. I’m seeing that it’s helping me to retain moisture. 😊
DONT wait until your hair is super dry and tangled to wash it. We know that stage when our hair could use a wash and condition but its not in a terrible state , so we tend to to stretch wash day, DONT DO THAT!! Wash your hair at that point , the detangling will be so much better, the shampoo wont leave ur hair stripped , and you dont need to prepoo since it will already have some remaing moisture in it. This is currently improving my hair health so much!!! I try to wash my hair every week or week and a half
My tip is to just not use literally hot water. I’m lo-po too, and cool and lukewarm water don’t help. My hair is most moisturized when I use warm water. Another suggesting I have is warm water and then sitting under a heated drier with your hair covered up to promote sort of a greenhouse affect
My hair loves warm water, and I'm low porosity, but I do notice when it gets too hot, my hair starts acting a fool. If I rinse with cold water, she acts a fool, so I opt for lukewarm and she likes that. My natural hair journey has been more like climbing a mountain. ☺️
Hey y’all! Since watching you Ms. Tanya, the thing that helped me the most is also prepooing with coconut oil. I even use the Kuza and aunt Jackie products that you suggested in an older video

@@sharenwiltshire8456 I just copied the link to you. I added the pumpkin seed oil to my regimen too as a hot oil.
I too bought some pumpkin seed oil after her video
A conditioner with silicone is the best for my daughter. Love, love, love Tresseme. Her hair is 4B/C, LP and dense. Leaves it feeling hydrated, soft and manageable.
Which Tresseme?
Let's be shallow...your mane looks fantastic.🥰
Always do a prepoo. It is a game changer.
Thank you! 💜☺️ and yes pre-poo is a game changer!
Yay! I’m so glad to hear that, thank you! 💜
Hi, can you explain the PMP method? Thank you
@@quietstorm483 it stands for penetrate moisturize and protect. Curly Chemistry has a great video on this.
My hair is the SAME way!!
Do you find that you get a thorough cleanse when you wash in twists?
I also do the same except for hot water. I also wash in 6 -8 sections. The only conditioner I use on my scalp is ayurverdic herbs. I am so grateful that I don't have issues with fairy knots
Great advice!
Typical wash day:
Cleanse
*Protein treatment (when/if needed)*
Leave in conditioner (see above)
Seal with thick product (varies)
***Gel (optional /not often)
I have always washed my hair 3 times. My roots are thick and it takes some effort to clean the scalp properly. And I use highly recommended shampoos. But I trust you and I really wouldn't mind cutting down my washtime, so I am gonna retry the 2 wash plan but with an applicator bottle. Tomorrow is the day! Excited.
Awesome! If you find that 3 is better for your hair after tomorrow that’s okay. I’m a huge advocate of sticking to what works. 💜
@@CurlyChemistry Update: Washing twice using applicator worked! Yay.
Dry detangling with oil and washing in twists really helped my wash day 🥰
💫✨ A game-changer for me has been the application of grape seed oil on my hair after leave-in conditioner ; I also seal my ends with regular castor oil.
XD
Wow that’s awesome! 😆 I’m glad my advice is helping and you’re seeing a difference. Keep it up!
Without question, African Pride's Pre Poo is the absolute best! It MELTS your tangles and snags like butta! Makes beginning Wash Days a breeze.
I like Trader Joe’s conditioner also
Great choices in conditioners!
That Aussie is a life saver for me!!!
Yes a huge difference! ☺️
**ACV=Apple cider vinegar
**AVJ= Aloe vera Juice
You won't catch me without it😅Best believe 💪🏽😜 it's def been a Game Changer for me personally!!!
@@erikablack6761 what proportions do you use? I'm highly interested
I'm gonna have to try this.
Flaxseed is amazing!
Same but with aloe vera gel
I have to try that.
Y'ALL HERBAL TEA RINSES BEFORE WASHING MY HAIR HAS BEEN A GAMECHANGER!!! THEY ARE LIFE!! My hair has strengthen sooo much!!
Great advice!
@@CurlyChemistry 💞💞💞
If you apply the tea rinse BEFORE shampooing, aren't you just washing away the tea benefits?
@@KYESHAKNOWSSKIN nice I have to try this.
While in the shower, I use a plastic cap to cover my hair after conditioner is applied. Thin I allow the water to run over the cap, which also feels like a head massage.
I no longer co wash. I shampoo twice a week. My hair has grown so much. So scalp care does help.
My hair LOVED being washed 2x a week. I use to do this often when I worked from home 3-4 days a week last year. But now work has flipped, I'm back in the office 3 - 4 days a week so it's tricky.
Much success to you May the Most High gives you strength healing protection peace prosperity and provide for you in his holy name amen ❤️🙏
📝👌🏽I'm petty enough to buy it just for the name 🧐 "Knot Happening" 😍 Iktr!!! stop playin with me
What has helped my hair on wash day is patiently, gently, throughly, detangling my hair with my Aussie Moist conditioner I have found that this cuts down on tangles and using a squeeze bottle with the pointed nozzle allows me to get the shampoo on my scalp and ensuring my scalp is cleaned from product build up and I never scrub my scalp and hair rigorously just gently with my finger tips.
Great advice!
@@CurlyChemistry FR Thank You that means a lot coming from you.🥰😊 Thank You again because of you I’ve learned my hair.
Pre-pooing is essential for my thick, formerly dry hair. Also your video on moisture cycles changed the game.
Thank you! 💜
Ditto!
Massaged my scalp with neem oil as a pre poo and am already impressed 😍💖 less shedding and tangling, and shine!
Hey Jess 🙂

I 💕 the Ouai shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner for thick hair. It’s on the pricier side, but my hair feels amazing every time I use it. A close second is Design Essentials. They have great products as well.
Thanks for sharing Aja!
Thank you for sharing!
Using a pre-poo and detangling has been amazing. I also am starting to emulsify products in my hands before applying.
My tip is to detangle your hair after your pre poo, but before you wash & smooth in 1 direction when you shampoo. This has helped me as my hair gets longer & tangles easier.
The onion cleanse peppermint oil for the scalp has helped tremendously. Thank you.
Hot oils treatments and putting a shower cap on my hair after I put on my leave in conditioner for 15 min. It has helped my hair a lot
Hey Portia! I love henna for my hair. Are you adding anything to your Henna masks?
@@reelovey I added Aloe Vera powder and a little Moringa powder as well but I can honestly say my hair didn’t feel as good as why=en I used the //henna on it’s own so now I don’t bother adding any other powders. I recently started using a mix of aloe vera gel, flax seed gel and pear cactus gel all diy. I mix this into my leave in conditioner. Dears it was a bomb of moisture.
Using cool water to rinse out conditioners. It makes my hair shine.
Incorporating fresh aloe gel from the leaf as a pre-poo has done wonders with scalp care and increased moisture
Me prepooing with my diy oil and some conditioner the night before wash day to detangle before washing makes my wash day routine sooooooo much easier and shorter but, sufficient.
Great advice!
I do exact same thing. Makes all the difference in the world!😊
What has helped my hair is the same as what has helped your hair, pre pooing with coconut oil or some type of oil! I leave the oil for about an hour or so. If I do it overnight for some reason my hair feels mushy.
Prepooing has definitely transformed my wash day and also knowing what ingredients my hair likes 🙌🏿
Wats ur hair porosity
For me using a detangling conditioner to detangle and washing it out before deep conditioning has been a game changer when using a comb to detangle.
Coconut oil as prepoo, and steaming our hair have been game changers for me and my daughters.
Prepooing/detangling my hair prior to washing has saved me a lot of time on wash days.
Thanks for sharing Freda!
Washing in sections is a time saver. I'm in love with the cream of nature pure honey shampoo. My fav so far.
What about leave-in conditioners? Can we put that on our scalp? Also, if you don’t use conditioner on your scalp, what can we used instead? Thank you, girl! You’re awesome!
Thanks for the tips! I wash in sections & use applicator bottle to apply the shampoo as suggested by you! So much easier! Save time & product!
I love the nozzle!
Thanks for sharing Lizzie!
Prepoo with coconut oil has been the game changer ever since and i mox the oil with onion and garlic and my hair florished ever since
I’m going to have to stop using hot water.
I detangle on wash day only when I have a conditioner in my hair. It reduces breakage tremendously and smooths out your strands.
Our baby is beautiful 🥰🥰🥰See her hair as well❤️❤️❤️
So, if hot water lifts the cuticle, would it be beneficial for low porosity hair?
To a certain extent, but too much can cause issues so be mindful.
Working in sections with hair clips and detangling with conditioner in the shower has helped me retain length.
Washing in fresh twists was a game-changer for me. I have super-fine, high -po strands that tangle if you look at them funny😅.
Putting them in fresh, smooth, loose twists and washing those gently helped to eliminate so much tangling and breaking at the ends. It also made my was day waaaaay faster.
Prepooing with CO and double cleansing has helped my hair. Clarifying or a gentle cleanser and then a co-wash.
