- The Boss Rc-600 Loop Station is a beast of a product. Whenever it released it was immediately put on a list of things I wanted to play with as a guitarist, along with several other things that aren't in the budget... I have been practicing, experimenting, and performing with this product for about 3 months now and hopefully I can help you make a decision about purchasing this product.

That was an excellent review from a real user! I appreciate the time you took to explain those details and your experiences. It really helps when trying to decide between the many options and price points out there.
Glad I could help!
Great video. I have been using the RC5, RC300 and now the RC600 for several years. I do not use all the capabilities of the RC600 since it is a complicated piece of gear but I don't need all the features. The main reason I switched to it was the variable length track lengths. It all started because of wanting to do a simple percussion track without having to play a full 12 bars (beat boxing or digital pad) or more for a song. I gig regularly and this can make for a very boring evening.
The programmable switches is a great feature and it is like having 6-RC5's or 3 RC300's and then some. I watched a lot of UA-cam videos on the RC600 and became very impressed with the people that do way more than I want (Matt Bolton), besides, at my age I am having to sit on a stool to operate the looper, guitar effects(GT-1), harmonizer(VE20) and cannot dance around like you young folks (aiming at pedals with bad eyes and bad knees ) is a challenge:) My current setup could be cut down if I learned more about the effects and harmonizer that are built into the RC600.
The RC600 is pricey but well worth the money. It is self contained and you don't really need much other gear unless you are a gear-freak like me. After playing for over 30 years I have aquired a lot of stuff and often times attempt to plug as many of those things into the RC600 just because.
There are so many possibilities with this unit and the sound quality is incredible. Any kind of looper is fun but this one is my choice. Enjoy!
Great comment and thank you for taking the time to type out your experience!
Great explanation of this awesome looper. I’ve had mine for a while and only used it on single mode. I’m about to get into the multi side 😱. One thing I would highly recommend if anyone gets this is not only to download the manual but also the Parameter guide. It’s a must and goes deeper into the thing and gives a lot of info.
I had to return my first one if you get one that shows a lot of errors or freezes get it back quickly for a replacement my second one was flawless - so far but I’ve heard of people being on 3 - . I spent a month before a week long event learning the thing and programming thirty or more songs using nearly all 16 assigns per track linked with a Behringer 1010 - another learning curve - turned it off at 12am Saturday night and took it to meet up with my band mate on the Sunday morning to let him hear all the cool stuff we were about to start on the Monday and it had completely corrupted, never got any of it back. So my final piece of advice is Back up often I learned all my stuff and missed that step if I had I wouldn’t have lost anything. Oh there is also a fantastic Editor made by a user called Moose well worth the extra money. Thanks again for the video.
Great advice and thanks for sharing! Sadly some of them just don’t hold up well. I have noticed the metal is quite thin. I mainly create all the sounds I use on the spot so if I lose anything it would be volume, effects, and switch presets which is a lot but can be reprogrammed in 30 minutes or so. I don’t know if there is a way to back it up other than the mp3s you may upload to tracks.
Thanks so much for this! You explain this very well and you are very listenable....well done! I'm def in the market for one of these. 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Hopefully you get one and make some great music with it!
Picked one up a few weeks ago after using RC60 for a few years. It’s light years better than the 60, but the framework to the 600 is very familiar. Midi Clocking and processing power is excellent on the 600. No issues using Midinome Master clock and syncing with other brands of audio interfaces, loopers, samplers, and sequencers. It stays tightly synced no matter how long or dense the loops get. I beat it up trying to break it, and the lesser loopers struggled and fell out of sync. Quantize function is decent but would be nicer with note slice rather than measure only. Connecting an expression pedal is useful for leveling tracks on the fly. The multi track is excellent for keeping outputs separate for proper tracking in DAW. Effects are decent but not mind blowing, useful to clean up inputs as always on type (compression EQ) but not great for things that need adjusting for each input or track on the fly.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve had mine for probably a year or more now and just recently started having some issues. I’m probably gonna have to factory reset it and see if that works.
@ if you haven’t checked already, there is recent Jan 2025 firmware that seems to address some issues.
Thanx so much.... very helpful.... thinking of buying one.....
It’s an amazing product but be ready to sink several hours of work across a few months to program it but it’s worth it I think!
I have a Boss rc10-r and I can make nice and interesting stuff with it. Right now I don't do gigs, just play for pleasure at home and make some videos for Y.T. just for fun but with some quality. The only problem of course is the only 2 tracks of Rc10-r but with some patience I can make a 3 or 5 minutes score of instrumental music with 3 or 4 memory next to each other with the same loop but different drum patterns. Well, maybe someday I'll buy that boss rc 600. Best wishes for your gigs.❤
Sounds cool and thank you! If you already do loops it’ll be a smoother transition to the 600. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for putting in the time to give a great overview of this looper.
@@galacticoasis thanks for taking the time to watch and reply!
This be quieter upgrade for me. It'd be a nice way to go. RC600
It’s a good piece of equipment.
Hi Devan, I agree about not needing to pay for any courses. But on your point re: importing layers... you could import to several RC-600 tracks and then you can overdub those over each other however you'd like. If I'm not mistaken, that might get you what you want. ....Wm
I think I get what your saying. The tracks don’t flow into each other so you wouldn’t be able to overdub them and delete duplicates afterwards once uploaded into the RC 600 if that’s what you mean. The multiple tracks separately output the audio without going through or interrupting the other tracks.
Thanks Devan. I just released my album “Under The Streetlights” in May by my band named Jimbo Unchained. I’m a singer/songwriter in Boise, Idaho and play acoustic. My RC600 is arriving this week. I’ve been watching a lot of videos and joined the RC600 FB group. Thanks again on sharing your experience. I find it especially useful getting information on nuances like uncomplicated rhythms to use, and the just little “how tos” of what works and probably more important…what doesn’t and how to work around issues and mistakes. ? Will the RC600 auto sync tempo with outside pedals? Specifically, the Nemesis Reverb and Ventris Delay pedals I currently use? As it is now, I have to set drums then tap in tempo on my pedals.
I’ve seen certain things that will but usually they involve using the midi in and out. You could set the bpms the exact same on both pedals. For instance, RC to 112 bpm and pedal 112 bpm if it has the capability.

TRS stands for Tip Ring Sleeve, IE if it doesn't have the 3 contacts, it's not a TRS. I suppose a guitar cable would be a T S . As for cost of foot switches, they are super simple to make. you could literally make them out of bacofoil and cardboard if you had to, but the actual guitar momentary foot switches only cost a couple of bucks.
Sounds complicated but cool
Thanks for sharing. Can we program unusual rhythms, like 5/4 9/4 etc...?
Yes you can but the rhythm shaping is very limited for some of those.
Its a shame that I cannot assign different input fx banks to different tracks, so that corresponding input fx would automatically activate when I play different tracks. What is the point of looper if you cannot do that. How am i supposed to change the track and the input fx bank at the same time. I bought this looper so that i would be able to do that. But it cannot even do such a simple thing. Is programming such a basic and essential function in a looper such a hard thing? Can anyone suggest me a work around?
You can have track effects and these can be assigned to different tracks. So each of the 6 tracks can have 4 different effects. This is different from the 4 input effects but I have found that the track effects only activate after recording, although this might can be changed in the settings but I’m not sure. The other option is to bring other pedals to supplement what’s not there, I have seen other artists do this as well.
I had to ship this theoretically phenomenal piece of gear back.. it started freezing while simply auditioning the included rhythm patterns. Too many risks.. it was fitted with 1.3 firmware, I read about problems, so downgraded it to 1.2 firmware. No way.
it’s a pity because, when it works, it sounds fantastic, gives you 6 tracks access, you can customise every switch ecc.
When it works.
Thanks for sharing your personal feedback and thankfully I haven’t had that issue. I use it for gigs 2-3 times a week but so far it’s good! Maybe it was a bad unit 🤷♂️
LPF/BPF/HPF=pass filters
Can u use it as audio interface for daw?
That is a good question and I believe you can. I can’t check at the moment but Im pretty I remember logic picking it up and asking if I wanted to use it. It’s also worth a google to check as well.
I have an RC-505 and I used it that way for a long time till I eventually went and got an actual interface. worked fine as long as you have the latest drivers. I'm sure it's the same with this. Can't imagine they would screw that up.
So much yapping before you get to the point.
product or unit looper product v looper unit
maybe get a mic cage to cut out the room echo
@@oldbladderhorn I actually had the mic backwards for some of it 🤦♂️
WOW!! BIBICAL!! I sure hope ROLAND paid you for this video!!
Oh, color your beard "black"; Abe Lincoln!!
No kidding!! As Angus Young; student! Dark-in your beard; play dressed as Abe Lincoln!! Especially with the slight southern drawl!! Right out of southern Illinois!!
Believe me!! It will work!! you have Lincoln's forehead!!
😂 well he grew up like 30 minutes from where I live 😆
Also no payment 😝
Mate I’m NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY
i just want to see how it works
Amen
I think it's good to see where he's coming from. I personally disagree with this comment. Different people will make different choices about things (like loopers) based on where they are comkng from.
Gee I wish demonstrators would just get on with it
No talking
No unboxing
Etc etc
Just show us how it works
That’s all
If you have the money and you can afford it, why not spend it on learning how to use the thing rather than spending it on some legal substances😂😂
