I bought the Seiko SSK003K1 and immediately replaced the cheap clasp that it comes with a milled one I had on a bracelet from Strapcode. I then ordered a double domed sapphire crystal with AR coating and a 24hr. ceramic insert from DLW. The aftermarket parts worked pretty good, although the crystal sits a little high. Other than that, I say the watch now has an amazing look to it. 😍 P.S. I was also impressed with the quality of the stock jubilee style bracelet. 😍😍
Bought my Mikan GMT on an impulse from online auction for 230€. Didn't expect to like it as much as I do. The watch looks absolutely stunning and the bracelet is so much better than I expected. Really cool watch.
That's a nice orange 🧡. Another difference between the 2 is, the chapter ring on the GMT is numbered. A lot of people don't catch that when doing the side by side. I'm in the 👍 category for the cyclops. Only time I take issue is when there's an alignment issue or the magnification is not sufficient 🧐.
I just today ordered the SSK003 from my local AD . I almost went with this 005 in Orange which was in stock but I’ve always wanted the Batman black and blue . I’m very excited for this watch to arrive.
I'm someone who absolutely hates the cyclops. as beautiful as the watch otherwise is--and it's gorgeous --ill never buy a watch with a cyclops. I'd go for the non-GMT. Totally right about the bracelet, really nice on this watch. Thanks for the great review.
It's interesting about the Lume statement that LumiBright is best. I am not sure about that - I have an old Victorinox Dive Master 500 that out lumes anything I have seen - not to debate as I have not tested how long it takes to go out, but I think the Dive Master 500 is an unsung amazing watch. I think I have had it for about 15 years now - automatic movement is great and I have had it in the ocean and swimming pools over the years. I have recently became a Seiko fan as they have great watches a great prices. Thank you again for the review.
Well done review, subscribed. Enjoying my Mikan more than I had expected, and would be missing out had I waited for the price to change. I was not a jubilee fan prior to owning one, but have realized it was just the looks, as it seemed an old school form due to who I know that wears a jubilee, not how well it wears. This has become a daily wear for me. Also have the 001, both with the Made in Japan dial. I use the GMT to track my in-laws timezone. Looking forward to keeping the Mikan stock, and modding the 001. The lume lasts all night.
Almost returned the watch I received about 2 hours ago because my box was beat to heck. But, after seeing your video, decided to keep it because the inside box seems ok. Now I’ll need to figure out the GMT function I like the cyclops because I actually need it 👀
It’s a single link bracelet (look at the back) probably why it’s not as jangly as the skx that had a multi link. Looking forward to seeing the movement in other brands and Seikos.
The price will come down. That's the thing with every new Seiko. They come out, people go crazy over them, and then the hype dies down after about 6 months and then the price will follow suit. This is not a limited production. They will keep making these, and new colorways will follow. So the $475 price point will settle into the $250 range by 2023 I should think.
Just ordered this yesterday on Amazon. I hope/think it will come in with the Made in Japan at 6 O'Clock. Also ordered a couple straps for it as I am not a huge Jubilee fan. Thank you for the review.
The price needs to come down because it has no screw down crown and no 200 meters.And the price difference is more than $200 because you can always get the regular Seiko 5 on sale somewhere.But your Seiko reviews are always great.
Screw down crowns can strip out over time and this isn't a true dive watch. Personally, I'm glad it doesn't have a screw down crown. There are some draw backs to that feature.
I wish watch makers would give you the opportunity to order a watch with leather or rubber strap. I'm not a fan of metal bracelets because I have to pay somebody to make them fit me. A simple weather or rubber band only needs to be tightened up on my wrist.
i have nothing against this new seiko GMT but somehow orange dont seems appropriate for a GMT watch. i also prefer the standard seiko orange it used for Monster and samurai. this version seems abit different or too deep/dark orange. total just 3 colour options which is abit too little for the new Seiko GMT range. i prefer 1or2 more colour options. maybe in coming years.

Where I live the price has gone up 10% as in Februari 2023.
It is still expensive and most loved watch till date.

As good as the VC 222 is I'd say right now as of August 14th the best release of the year is the Seiko ssk or the Tissot PRX chronograph.

How is $299 to $325 at many retailers high? It beats any Swiss made at this price for a GMT watch

Look at the Orient Kamasu it comes on a rubber strap.
I have the same problem i lost the fingers on my right hand . I've got a jewelers that changes $10 that's not bad & once it's done your good to go.
