  • Police attempt to sting bikers and quad bikers
A Police operation was underway on Sunday afternoon to attempt to stop and detain rogue bikers and quad bikers who were roaming through a West Yorkshire estate.
The incident was reported on Sunday 14 July on Tong Street after the group had been spotted roaming the streets of #Holmewood estate.
Police officers attempted to deploy a stinger in a bid to get some of the group to stop, but it failed as most just drove around the device.
A quad biker then attempted to manoeuvre around the stinger but collided with a police officer who managed to pull him off the vehicle and hold onto him until further notice officers arrived.
Police said the incident happened after officers received multiple reports of off-road bikes being driven dangerously in the #Bradford South area.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police received multiple reports of off-road bikes being driven dangerous in the Bradford South area at the weekend.
"On Sunday, July 14, a group of males were reported to be riding quad bikes and off-road bikes in Harold Park (Low Moor) and then proceeded to ride at excessive speeds on the roads in the area.
"On Tong Street, officers deployed a stinger after multiple bikes failed to stop for police. One suspect then rode directly into an officer injuring him.
“A 27-year-old man from Huddersfield was arrested on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit for drugs and grievous bodily harm.
"The officer was taken to hospital for treatment on a leg injury," said a police spokesperson.
    "Enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone who witnesses the incident or has any video or dashcam footage is asked to contact the police to assist with their enquiries.
"Anyone with any information is urged to contact the police via 101 quoting crime reference number 13240379897 or information can be given to independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
