What Rainbow needs to know for a successful reboot: - Don’t talk down to your audience - Put effort into writing for your show, yes, even shows aimed at kids. - Don’t be afraid to have fashionable outfits for your characters. - Adult fans want a good reboot too. - Bloom looks better in blue.
I agree especially with how Bloom looks better in blue. I get that Rainbow probably just wants to experiment with the colors, but the cool of the blue contrasts perfectly with the warm hues of her red hair
yess red hair is famously hard to pair with pinks, even disney knew that and changed ariel’s dress from the pink one to a new aqua one for promotions. It doesn’t mean it can’t work tgt at all, but it’s mainly bad when pairing bright with bright. When its animation, you ofc want to have bright colours so like no wonder it looks worse.
I like aisha having a protective hairstyle but her colorpallete is just really not it-she had such a nice netrual colopallette in the og but now..its just ugly to me personally it feels very childish I would say i wish floral was darker, she looks like shes just slightly darker then bloom when in the og she was almost the same skintone as aisha just lighter - the outfit im also not liking Stella would not be caught dead wearing that
They really need to stop putting Bloom in pink it doesn't look good with her hair 😭 She had some of my favorite outfits in the OG series along with Stella (the latter I credit for my obsession with the color orange) so to see them be relegated to just generic pink color schemes is sad!! I hope they listen to that feedback
Tecna is actually on screen quite a lot, but the main thing she is lacking is CONFLICT. The plot almost never revolves around her. She is always supporting others, going on missions to help Stella change from her monster form, or help Aisha's planet, or help turn Bloom back from Dark Bloom. I can only count ONE time that the mission had anything to do with Tecna herself: when they were rescuing her from the Omega dimension. And ironically, Tecna is not present for 3 episodes straight, so it's like a backhanded moment, like yeah it's finally about Tecna, but Tecna is not onscreen. Also, the way everybody gives up on her so quickly, except Timmy, is really not nice. Good thing she has Timmy, her only real friend and boyfriend♡
@@The00qa Also we never learn anything about Tecn'as personality, Tecna has lacked nuances to her personality and her personality evolving beyond season 3, we never learn about her family, she hasn't engaged with her ever changing emotional reality after season 3, we don't learn enough of even her quirks and eccentricities beyond season 3, nor do we get her motivations and ambitions as well. They gave Tecna nothing after season 3 which was literally the first and only season to give any salience to the storyline.
"cautiously optimistic" is THE phrase for this reboot, it applies to every aspect of it lol. the most clearly "disappointing" part so far (IMO) is Bloom's disney channel outfit and the lack of blue in it. both versions of her hair in the animation tests make me very happy for some reason tho.
idk I actually Bloom in light purples I think it suits her plus Im someone that like it when characters experiment with different colors sometimes, seeing them in the same colors all the time will bore me
I will forever be biased toward 2D animation but this style just reminds me too much of other things such as Miraculous Ladybug, rather than anything close to The Winx :/
I honestly wish Reboots would utilize 2D animation instead of defaulting to 3D. I know it's easier for production but 2D just has such a loving vibe to me that 3D kind of loses quite a lot.
@@Daeymieh 2D is too expensive to produce nowadays, that's the problem. Nobody has budget for that anymore unless it's a real passion project and well, I wouldn't call a Winx reboot that lol. Also 3D animators aren't unionized afaik, one of the reasons why 3D animation is the majority now
@@Cherished.Beloved 3D has the benefit of reusable assets, but imo it's much more expensive to make good looking or interesting 3D animation than to make good/interesting 2D. 2D is also so versatile, and ages super well if a company is willing to invest in it just a bit while 3D looks extremely samey and dated unless you're willing to shell out the $$$ like they did for things like Arcane.
Yeah, the art looks like a LOT like Ladybug. In fact, a lot of TV CGI animation has that look for their human characters. Genuinely don't know if it's a limitation of the medium or just a market trend.

I think thats bc of how rough it is. Like it definitely looks like they just photoshopped things together and thats probably exactly what these are and they were meant to just pitch the show but then it got leaked. Until they fully settle on adate I’d say nothing is official or matches the quality of the show
Here for saying costume design does not need to be complex to be good. A design should really be able to work in its simple form without /needing/ complications to make it interesting. The 2021 designs could use more definition, but it's true what makes the og designs iconic is how much they do with so little. Small touches like the old v-cut on the hem of Bloom's crop top go a long way, though.
i agree but i feel like the 2021 outfits are still wayy too basic to me. I feel like the first fairy costumes were able to perfectly balance simplicity with a magical feel to it. This just feels like they are wearing normal clothes you can find in Walmart tbh.
The outfits are incredibly ugly. They are so noisy and not stylish at all, as if the fashions were from 2015. Outfits from the first season which was in 2007 are much better and look more modern now
I'm pretty confident on this reboot. Rainbow seems to have FINALLY understood that they killed the Winx Club brand in the last decade (specially with the S8/Fate The Winx Saga era!) and that this reboot is their ULTIMATE chance to save the franchise. They put efforts, and the few pictures are very encouraging (Tecna's outfit is perfect!) I have only 2 critiques : I would do is that Stella's outfit is not good (too much Barbie, not enough Stella style!). And for the animation, I wish they had kept at least the shape of the iconic eyes to distinct more this reboot from all the other series animated in CGI that are actually airing. 21:30 I had the same reflection about this group transformation picture : there are goods ideas but it's too much to be transposed into dolls. Even with printed fabric! I really hope they will go with the 2021-2022 "Charmix" design for much simplicity and ... with cool detailed wings!

GIVE BLOOM HER BLUE SHES NOT PINK!!!!! I hate this idea they have of making her cotton candy looked. She’s the main character in a girls show she must be pink and blue. So dumb I love her blue and yellow it was different.
So - I work in print on demand licensed apparel and we tried to work with Rainbow/Winx. One thing that was hard to explain to them that POD allows for the opportunity to create artwork for all characters (not just the 'marketable' ones) and other things which are fan specific; they were much more into curation and 'testing', which, is just not how our business model works best - that's a more traditional brick and mortar model. For example, we wanted to do one style of design across all six girls, but they were a little hesitant and only wanted to 'test it' with Bloom. I found this super disappointing and a little behind the times because their fans may identify more with a Layla/Aisha, Tecna, Musa, Flora. They also were weird about us using the original y2k art poses as-is --- even though that's what the Doll Kill collection mostly was. They wanted us to make them more designed and edited and use their more stylized poses, which we can do; but they showed us examples examples using more of the later season art work that felt very aged down. Another nail in the coffin for me was they wouldn't let us put our tees up on Hot Topic, one of our main partners and where I think Winx would do best, because they were already partnering with them directly but sales weren't great. POD is so low risk to list for sales, this really shouldn't matter. This all gave me the impression that they didn't fully get their nostalgic fan base let alone our business. It could be regional difference too, or language differences. I'm not sure. But that's my experience working with Rainbow and trying to make tees for yall
Winx Club could’ve been wrapped after season 3 ended! As someone who grew up with the 4Kids dub, it just felt like 3 seasons was a nice conclusion. Whatever Nickelodeon did feels unnecessary. Also your voice is so soothing!

Im so happy that they are doing a reboot and not a boring new season(in my opinion).Im gonna miss the first 3 seasons animation but I might prefer the 3d over s5-9 style of animation. I just hope if they make dolls they give rights to mattel again💓

Yeah me too! I originally thought it was going to be a continuation of season 8 because people were calling it season "9" but I like how they are choosing to completely reboot the premise of the first season. At least I think that's what they are doing with this
They just released more images and the designs are definitely better than what we had seen previously. Stella will be in orange and with more accessories in her civilian form, the animation is better than what was shown. And the transformations are closer to the 2021 images which I am so glad cuz if in the reboot they get the equivalent of Enchantix, it wpuld be more impactuful if they go from the more simplistic outfits to more detailed putfits rather than already having detailed outfits in their first transformation.
Here how I would actually re-style Bloom and Stella for a reboot with a more detailed animation style: Bloom: Her style in the original is very Y2K, with high necklines and low waistlines seeming as the core, with few exeptions. Her neck is almost always at least partially covered. Crop tops and empire waistlines are also repeated in a few of her looks in the original. In the original, I would combine a pair of bell-bottom jeans with a turtle-neck crop top of jersey knit, with blue and teal as the dominant colors, with still some light yellow accents, as embroidery on her jeans and some part of her top, probably either as little hearts on her crop top, and she'd have some sandals with yellow flowers as decoration. For colder weather but no coats, I would combined some bell jeans with canvas shoes, a sleeveless dress shirt with blueberry clossom pattern and on top a deep blue, form-fitting cardigan with a V neckline. Stella: Her outfits in the original tend to have rather open necklines, and easily combined greens, oranges, pinks, purples and blues. Yellow and gold are saved for accents. They go from light and boho and form-fitting, and with a lot of solar motifs and summer vibes. California beach girl meets bombshell, with some egyptian and Aztek thrown in there. So, I would combined a flowy crop top with spagethi straps and a wrapped skirt, in a combination of pale green and a darker orange, with a macrome boho belt with coins as decoration. She'd have golden loop earrings and bracelets. All that would be combined with wedged sandals with star motifs were it meets the toes. For colder weather, I would put on her a sleeveless dress with a half circle skirt with a thick sash, light-weight high boots and some arm-warmers and a shawl.
The outfits give me such 2015 vibes rather then the y2k style of winx that is still fashionable today. Makes me wonder just for how long have they been working on the reboot or if the designers are just very outdated

Yes UA-camrs ive seen writing shows they love often write them better than the real writers. The writers should invite like 20 or so fans to read through and give advice. Sadly we know these characters better than the “real” writers.

Her ideas are great, I really urge you to watch!

It's been 15 years of bad decisions if we're being completely honest...while Seasons 5-7 all had some great moments and lots of potential, Season 4 was truly the last great season😓
I agree. While season 3 will always be THE canonical finale to me, 4 will always be the icing to season 3's cake. Everything else I just consider fanfiction
Season 7 should have been the end when Bloom's parents and planet came back to life and the Sirenix curse was lifted off of Daphne. And if they wanted to go two more season, they should have focused on Bloom coming of age to wrap it up instead of more leveling up for the Winx. Anyway, one thing I especially like from season 6 is the episode the three end up in this illusion where they're met with their biggest insecurities. Bloom's being that Sky will never love her again after he lost his memory, and Aisha's being that Nabu would never forgive her for failing to save his life. Those were good, but I think they could have done better with Stella's when it's her self-doubt of ever being a good fashion designer. Like- guys. She's more than that. She had this whole character development at the beginning of season two to show it. Now season 7, we learn about her concern about her parents' issues with each other. That could have been wayyy better of an insecurity to expose because SHE'S MORE THAN HER FASHION SENSE! Now that concept with the insecurities was so good, I think every fandom should use that scenario on their characters to learn more about them. I'm actually thinking to do it myself.
i strongly strongly strongly dislike that particular 3D art style, because so many IPs utilize it and almost every character across them has same-face syndrome. similar head shape, huge eyes, the tiniest of noses

I don't like any of the fashion designs that we've seen so far at all! I think they're an eyesore. I want to be able to watch this show and be both pleased by how good it looks and how good the story is. But idk how it's going to turn out tbh. Thank you for making this video, I enjoyed it.

I think it might be a little too early to say she's for sure gonna be a robot? My first thought on seeing her sleeve was that it was going to be a prosthetic, which I think is a really exciting idea. It could also very well just be part of the clothing design to go along with the rest of her 80s aesthetic.
On the topic of transformations. I do agree that the early 2020 one is going to be season 1 and 2 outfits. It’s giving “Magic Wings” and “Charmix” with the bags on their sides. Most likely the later version outfits was then experimenting with different hairdos and sparkling outfits for future seasons. Because I’m sorry the hair they put Aisha in was kinda ugly 😂 Like I get what they thought they were going for. But it wasn’t giving. I also hope they take into each girl’s ethnicity and culture more for this reboot. I WANT to visit each girl’s home planet and get backstories for them. As well as see how the Flora, Musa, and Techna deal with their royalty on their planet since they’re not in charge. Does that change their perspective? How does that make them interact with Stella, Bloom (after she discovers she’s a princess of course), and Aisha? I mainly am hoping for this reboot to be heavily character driven. I want the other girls to get a spotlight. I don’t want them to kill off the black girl’s love interest 😒 Which is a high bar I know 😂😂 But I want my epic opening, transformations, and amazing characters. I also want them to fully showcase Flora’s powers because I also am a Flora Stan! 😌😌
I agree about the art style; I wish it was more stylized and interesting. Body diversity is important to me, so a one to one creation of the original style isn't what I'm looking for. A nod to the original style would be cool! Let's...not do a FATE The Winx Saga representation..something that feels natural and nice, not mean...and shallow.

im not usually a huge fan of cheaper 3d animation or the pixar face design, but i think the animation tests manage to just skirt the line for me, and i actually like the way Bloom's hair has an almost glow-y ombre effect, evoking fire imagery. would prefer more blue and less busy patterns, design would be much better by just getting rid of the leggings. cautiously optimistic indeed! in general i do think the clothes are just a bit too busy and rainbow for my taste, good designs arent made just by adding more details, which these designs dont seem to reflect, but there's time for revision
I would Like to see the following: - A better story and plot, i really hope it’s not childish as the last few seasons. I Mean yes, Winx club is made for kids, but to please kids and older fans, I think making the story more mature would be a better idea. - Stop putting Bloom in pink. I think bloom doesn’t look good in pink, she looks better with blues and yellows. - Not having any racism. That means that Flora and Layla should have their original skintone. - Better Dolls. The last and current winx dolls are quite cheap and trash. So I hope they give them Saran or Nylon instead of Poly, better fashion in both show and dolls as well. Those are the things that I would see for the new winx club
To be honest I thought Tecna being an android always was a thing? At least early on in the franchise. I remember her saying things like she was going to switch herself off rather than going to bed and it even said she was an android in her character bio on the website. Either way I love her new look, I think it's really cute

I mostly like new designs, except for Bloom and Stella. Bloom's outfit is just too much and also pink isn't really her color. I like the general direction of her style, but it would've been better with less details. Stella on the other hand just lacks any details that would show her personality. Just i don't know, add some accessories, maybe a head band. Also i don't think pink is her color either, orange would've been sooo much better
It would have been nice to see the creators make a sequel series with an entirely new cast (with maybe some returning cast members in later seasons). I like Bloom, Aisha , Tecna, etc however I feel like their stories were mostly static now so it would be good to see a brand new winx club.

About the fairy forms: as far as i know the more "official" ones are the 2021 ones, the more recent one is (suposedly) concep for the scraped season 9 so they are more likely scraped designs aswell

I'm sure some people will have my head for this, but I hope the reboot will be a bit... how shall I put this... I hope they will chill a little on the romantic drama. Growing up as both a girly girl and a young aromantic (though I didn't know it at the time), I often felt disconnected and unwelcome from girly media because it was so often focused on Protagonist Get Boyfriend, and Winx Club was by far one of the worst offenders- even though I really loved the fashion and the action and the entire concept of the show. Even as an adult, some of the romantic plotlines are near unwatchably grating, and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. I hope the new Winx will leave some room for kids who don't particularly care for romance. Especially girls, who are pretty much told from a young age by TV and other such things that romance will be an inevitable and essential part of their lives, and that it's weird and unfeminine if you're not into it.
this is what they should've done since season 4 ended, instead of trying to trick us soft rebooting it alongside nickelodeon, which they seem to regret seeing the instagram posts and the recent pronouncements iginio straffi has made, that reaffirm season 4 as the true ending of the original canon of the show.
I’ll be honest, I never really watched Winx when it was originally airing. I was a W.I.T.C.H. kid through and through (back when it was a “battle” between Nick and Disney-Nick clearly won, because no one else seems to remember W.I.T.C.H. 😅). But I’m interested to see a Winx revival. I have my fingers crossed for the best, we’ll just have to see if they waste the opportunity or not
Judging by the photos from this reboot, I am pretty excited and I look forward to it. I still think, that these designs are also good for older demographic, not just for children. That's the main problem I have with monster high series... They look so childish. I really tried to love them, but I just can not. Every brand, that is rebooting should focus at pleasing old and new fans equally, not just one group.
The characters designs are a lot better but I still prefer that Season 9 is continued to were the last Season left off just like the past Winx Club Season rather restart the whole series all over again in the reboot because I still would like to see the continued story of Icy's lost Kingdom with the Shaman Witch as the main Villain. Apart from that I'm still hoping to see more charcters from the original Winx Club Series like Kiko, Faragonda, Griselda, Palladium, Wizgiz, Griffin, Saladin, Codatorta, Sky, Brandon, Helia, Riven, Timmy, Nex, Thoren, Daphne, Pixies and Diaspro.
A real Winx Club in my opinion was ended after 2nd season (best art style (draw line style) and "normal", not so much magicial story). When I watched it for the first time on TV in 2004-05 I was about 14-15 years old and it's soo good... but... Everything went wrong in 2007, 3rd season - that faires (Pixies) and other stuff like Enchantrix, girls different art style, too much magicial stuff etc. are just "magicial overload" for me... This unnecessary changes in 3rd season, after watching two or three episodes pushed me away from the series and the entire franchise for good. Sad but true. :/ In these two seasons this series reminds me "Braceface" series, which I loved back in the day but later in 3rd season it went too much into cartoon for VERY small girls and that is just too much for me...

I'm neutral concerning the style , but i love how they're more different (the different body type and height etc) and i generally like the clothes (wow my favorite is Tecna that was my least favorite in previous series). About the fairy transformation i like better the more elaborated one. Ok the other one is more reminiscent of the original series bit it makes no sense to me to transform from an elaborate clothing to a simple basic one... It feels like a downgrade to me.
i understand wanting something closer to the og wunx club, but i never thought those designs looked good in 3D, one of the reasons i never fully liked the 3D movies (also the 3D in the nick version was also bad lol). The actual design of the characters isnt the best/most unique. i think there could have been a better way to mix them together. i know the pixar was brought up, but i think the approach of making good updated 2D designs that look good as 2D (potentially for comics) that can translate into unique 3D styles :\

I love the original winx wish they used the original graphics I know it’s an older look but it would be cheaper and feel more like the original. I dont like them redoing the art style it feels way too different.
It would be interesting if Mitsi became like a liason between the fairies and humans. Like instead of Winx telling the entire world that fairies are real like they seem to do in the later seasons, what if Mitsi finds out about fairies from Bloom and when she finds out about the fairies wanting to help the earth she takes information that the fairies give her and becomes like a spokesperson, only no one knows that she is getting information from fairies since they don't believe they exists. Winx gives info to Roxy on earth and she gives it to Mitsi who then tells the humans?
I have trouble coping with all that pink on Bloom. I do like the color pink, but there is "too much". There's a reason the original used pink in moderation. Also, the original had a good core to her outfits: low-waist jeans or denim skirt with a high-neckline knitted top. Also, why is a public bathroom pink ?
I do think I'm busy design is very cute I just think that it needs to be changed a bit cuz it looks too cute like her glasses are a bit too big so it makes it look more nice than she actually is and her puffed sleeves make her look nicer also which makes no sense because Missy is really rude in the series
If they still decide to have Musa and Riven be a thing, they should have them eventually break up and permanently. I did like how they portrayed the toxic relationship and showed that it was bad. But what i didn’t like was how they stayed together even after the worst of their relationship. If they want to gear it towards children and if they want to do it right. They need to not give them the message that staying in toxic relationships is okay. But again, i do think they should still keep the dynamic for a while and let it worsen just so they know its wrong so they can have a correct approach to situations like that in real life.
Also in a little clip they showed us they showed them being angry like every time we've ever seen bloom in the nick era of Winx Club she never been able to fully be angry or just get mad or make dumb decisions like you did back in the first three seasons she was always at the perfect role model to kids that nobody liked because we're making a good protagonist they need to have flaws they need to be relatable and Bloom in The Nicky Arrow Winx Club was not relatable because all her flaws were burned away and it's actually kind of funny because for being the Fairy of the dragon flame that didn't allow her to actually be mad back in the nick era but now does the Nick dubs over I think they're repairing the show now
Why is flora barley dark? Like a tan white girl? I swear they better not. Also Stella is wearing an atrocious pink dress with a white turtle neck what!?! She would never wear that it’s giving scrunchy girl. I hope they keep Iisha (cant spell it) more girly too many shows pick the girl of color to like sports and act more masculine than the others its a bad stereotype look that Hollywood loves. Her outfit seem sporty compared to the others im scared.
A comment on the designs: I have no actual problem with Bloom's designs, it just seems like they are leaning into the fashion from the Believix-season. I find Aisha's design fitting, her thing was that she was sportsy and I can totally imagine running into her jogging or something in a park. Just like with Bloom, I get the feeling that they are going for Beliviex-season with Flora and I think they might make her human-color green to contrast with her fairy-color pink. Love Musa, nothing more needs to be said. I get the feeling that Rainbow is going for a modern French look for Stella, I think I might even see some European characteristics in her face-shape which adds to the Frenchness. I like that they are leaning into the whole technology/cyberpunk style with Tecna, it fits her. I just hope they don't make Aisha a girly-girl when she mostly is a tomboy, that they make Tecna a normal boy-crazy girl when it's obvious from the Original that she is on the Aroace spectrum, or that they erase the relationship problem between Raven and Musa since it was one of the more realistic representations of a real relationship in the show.
Bloom, Aisha and Stella got better outfits if you were wondering. Bloom got a similar color scheme as her og look, Stella got a more yellow color palette, Aisha got a full new outfit
not gonna lie, i've been tapped out of the winx world ever since that horrendous partnership with nickelodeon... that was pretty much the beginning of the end for me lol i even tried giving one the newer winx series a shot but couldn't get past the first episode unfortunately i really wish they would leave the 3D/CG animation behind because it literally sucks all of the magic from what made the character designs so iconic and interesting in the first place. i know others have said 2D animation is largely too expensive to make these days, but i wish they would at least consider doing a combination of 2D and 3D the way Marvel did with X-Men '97... there's a reason why that series is already being named one of the most beautifully designed animations we've gotten in a long time.
What Rainbow needs to know for a successful reboot:
- Don’t talk down to your audience
- Put effort into writing for your show, yes, even shows aimed at kids.
- Don’t be afraid to have fashionable outfits for your characters.
- Adult fans want a good reboot too.
- Bloom looks better in blue.

yess red hair is famously hard to pair with pinks, even disney knew that and changed ariel’s dress from the pink one to a new aqua one for promotions. It doesn’t mean it can’t work tgt at all, but it’s mainly bad when pairing bright with bright. When its animation, you ofc want to have bright colours so like no wonder it looks worse.
I like aisha having a protective hairstyle but her colorpallete is just really not it-she had such a nice netrual colopallette in the og but now..its just ugly to me personally it feels very childish

Tecna is actually on screen quite a lot, but the main thing she is lacking is CONFLICT. The plot almost never revolves around her. She is always supporting others, going on missions to help Stella change from her monster form, or help Aisha's planet, or help turn Bloom back from Dark Bloom.
I can only count ONE time that the mission had anything to do with Tecna herself: when they were rescuing her from the Omega dimension. And ironically, Tecna is not present for 3 episodes straight, so it's like a backhanded moment, like yeah it's finally about Tecna, but Tecna is not onscreen. Also, the way everybody gives up on her so quickly, except Timmy, is really not nice. Good thing she has Timmy, her only real friend and boyfriend♡
@@The00qa Also we never learn anything about Tecn'as personality, Tecna has lacked nuances to her personality and her personality evolving beyond season 3, we never learn about her family, she hasn't engaged with her ever changing emotional reality after season 3, we don't learn enough of even her quirks and eccentricities beyond season 3, nor do we get her motivations and ambitions as well. They gave Tecna nothing after season 3 which was literally the first and only season to give any salience to the storyline.

"cautiously optimistic" is THE phrase for this reboot, it applies to every aspect of it lol. the most clearly "disappointing" part so far (IMO) is Bloom's disney channel outfit and the lack of blue in it. both versions of her hair in the animation tests make me very happy for some reason tho.
idk I actually Bloom in light purples I think it suits her plus Im someone that like it when characters experiment with different colors sometimes, seeing them in the same colors all the time will bore me

I will forever be biased toward 2D animation but this style just reminds me too much of other things such as Miraculous Ladybug, rather than anything close to The Winx :/
I honestly wish Reboots would utilize 2D animation instead of defaulting to 3D. I know it's easier for production but 2D just has such a loving vibe to me that 3D kind of loses quite a lot.
@@Daeymieh 2D is too expensive to produce nowadays, that's the problem. Nobody has budget for that anymore unless it's a real passion project and well, I wouldn't call a Winx reboot that lol. Also 3D animators aren't unionized afaik, one of the reasons why 3D animation is the majority now

@@Cherished.Beloved 3D has the benefit of reusable assets, but imo it's much more expensive to make good looking or interesting 3D animation than to make good/interesting 2D. 2D is also so versatile, and ages super well if a company is willing to invest in it just a bit while 3D looks extremely samey and dated unless you're willing to shell out the $$$ like they did for things like Arcane.
Yeah, the art looks like a LOT like Ladybug. In fact, a lot of TV CGI animation has that look for their human characters. Genuinely don't know if it's a limitation of the medium or just a market trend.

Like it definitely looks like they just photoshopped things together and thats probably exactly what these are and they were meant to just pitch the show but then it got leaked. One thing I have to point out that I like is Bloom's hair. It looks like it's multiple shades of red/orange, like a fire
Here for saying costume design does not need to be complex to be good. A design should really be able to work in its simple form without /needing/ complications to make it interesting. The 2021 designs could use more definition, but it's true what makes the og designs iconic is how much they do with so little. Small touches like the old v-cut on the hem of Bloom's crop top go a long way, though.
i agree but i feel like the 2021 outfits are still wayy too basic to me. I feel like the first fairy costumes were able to perfectly balance simplicity with a magical feel to it. This just feels like they are wearing normal clothes you can find in Walmart tbh.

The outfits are incredibly ugly. They are so noisy and not stylish at all, as if the fashions were from 2015. Outfits from the first season which was in 2007 are much better and look more modern now

I'm pretty confident on this reboot. Rainbow seems to have FINALLY understood that they killed the Winx Club brand in the last decade (specially with the S8/Fate The Winx Saga era!) and that this reboot is their ULTIMATE chance to save the franchise. They put efforts, and the few pictures are very encouraging (Tecna's outfit is perfect!)
I have only 2 critiques : I would do is that Stella's outfit is not good (too much Barbie, not enough Stella style!). And for the animation, I wish they had kept at least the shape of the iconic eyes to distinct more this reboot from all the other series animated in CGI that are actually airing.
21:30 I had the same reflection about this group transformation picture : there are goods ideas but it's too much to be transposed into dolls. Even with printed fabric! I really hope they will go with the 2021-2022 "Charmix" design for much simplicity and ... with cool detailed wings!

GIVE BLOOM HER BLUE SHES NOT PINK!!!!! I hate this idea they have of making her cotton candy looked. She’s the main character in a girls show she must be pink and blue. So dumb I love her blue and yellow it was different.
So - I work in print on demand licensed apparel and we tried to work with Rainbow/Winx. One thing that was hard to explain to them that POD allows for the opportunity to create artwork for all characters (not just the 'marketable' ones) and other things which are fan specific; they were much more into curation and 'testing', which, is just not how our business model works best - that's a more traditional brick and mortar model. For example, we wanted to do one style of design across all six girls, but they were a little hesitant and only wanted to 'test it' with Bloom. I found this super disappointing and a little behind the times because their fans may identify more with a Layla/Aisha, Tecna, Musa, Flora. They also were weird about us using the original y2k art poses as-is --- even though that's what the Doll Kill collection mostly was. They wanted us to make them more designed and edited and use their more stylized poses, which we can do; but they showed us examples examples using more of the later season art work that felt very aged down. Another nail in the coffin for me was they wouldn't let us put our tees up on Hot Topic, one of our main partners and where I think Winx would do best, because they were already partnering with them directly but sales weren't great. POD is so low risk to list for sales, this really shouldn't matter. This all gave me the impression that they didn't fully get their nostalgic fan base let alone our business. It could be regional difference too, or language differences. I'm not sure. But that's my experience working with Rainbow and trying to make tees for yall
Winx Club could’ve been wrapped after season 3 ended! As someone who grew up with the 4Kids dub, it just felt like 3 seasons was a nice conclusion. Whatever Nickelodeon did feels unnecessary.

Im so happy that they are doing a reboot and not a boring new season(in my opinion).Im gonna miss the first 3 seasons animation but I might prefer the 3d over s5-9 style of animation. I just hope if they make dolls they give rights to mattel again💓

Yeah me too! I originally thought it was going to be a continuation of season 8 because people were calling it season "9" but I like how they are choosing to completely reboot the premise of the first season. At least I think that's what they are doing with this
They just released more images and the designs are definitely better than what we had seen previously. Stella will be in orange and with more accessories in her civilian form, the animation is better than what was shown. And the transformations are closer to the 2021 images which I am so glad cuz if in the reboot they get the equivalent of Enchantix, it wpuld be more impactuful if they go from the more simplistic outfits to more detailed putfits rather than already having detailed outfits in their first transformation.

Here how I would actually re-style Bloom and Stella for a reboot with a more detailed animation style:
Bloom: Her style in the original is very Y2K, with high necklines and low waistlines seeming as the core, with few exeptions. Her neck is almost always at least partially covered. Crop tops and empire waistlines are also repeated in a few of her looks in the original. In the original, I would combine a pair of bell-bottom jeans with a turtle-neck crop top of jersey knit, with blue and teal as the dominant colors, with still some light yellow accents, as embroidery on her jeans and some part of her top, probably either as little hearts on her crop top, and she'd have some sandals with yellow flowers as decoration. For colder weather but no coats, I would combined some bell jeans with canvas shoes, a sleeveless dress shirt with blueberry clossom pattern and on top a deep blue, form-fitting cardigan with a V neckline.
Stella: Her outfits in the original tend to have rather open necklines, and easily combined greens, oranges, pinks, purples and blues. Yellow and gold are saved for accents. They go from light and boho and form-fitting, and with a lot of solar motifs and summer vibes. California beach girl meets bombshell, with some egyptian and Aztek thrown in there. So, I would combined a flowy crop top with spagethi straps and a wrapped skirt, in a combination of pale green and a darker orange, with a macrome boho belt with coins as decoration. She'd have golden loop earrings and bracelets. All that would be combined with wedged sandals with star motifs were it meets the toes. For colder weather, I would put on her a sleeveless dress with a half circle skirt with a thick sash, light-weight high boots and some arm-warmers and a shawl.
The outfits give me such 2015 vibes rather then the y2k style of winx that is still fashionable today. Makes me wonder just for how long have they been working on the reboot or if the designers are just very outdated
i feel ruined for this reboot because ive been watching a youtuber (ghosts_probably) rewrite this show and now I just want Rainbow to strike a deal with her instead and let that be the reboot 😔
Yes UA-camrs ive seen writing shows they love often write them better than the real writers. The writers should invite like 20 or so fans to read through and give advice. Sadly we know these characters better than the “real” writers.

she has a playlist on youtube thats 20+ videos, she's gone through the mains (winx, trix, bfs, darkar) and has given side characters like Lucy and Mirta attention and tie them in; she plans on mapping out how a three season base show would work! she even remade Magix itself lol. Her ideas are great, I really urge you to watch!

It's been 15 years of bad decisions if we're being completely honest...while Seasons 5-7 all had some great moments and lots of potential, Season 4 was truly the last great season😓
I agree. While season 3 will always be THE canonical finale to me, 4 will always be the icing to season 3's cake. Everything else I just consider fanfiction
Season 7 should have been the end when Bloom's parents and planet came back to life and the Sirenix curse was lifted off of Daphne. And if they wanted to go two more season, they should have focused on Bloom coming of age to wrap it up instead of more leveling up for the Winx.
Anyway, one thing I especially like from season 6 is the episode the three end up in this illusion where they're met with their biggest insecurities. Bloom's being that Sky will never love her again after he lost his memory, and Aisha's being that Nabu would never forgive her for failing to save his life.
Those were good, but I think they could have done better with Stella's when it's her self-doubt of ever being a good fashion designer. Like- guys. She's more than that. She had this whole character development at the beginning of season two to show it. Now season 7, we learn about her concern about her parents' issues with each other. That could have been wayyy better of an insecurity to expose because SHE'S MORE THAN HER FASHION SENSE!
Now that concept with the insecurities was so good, I think every fandom should use that scenario on their characters to learn more about them. I'm actually thinking to do it myself.
i strongly strongly strongly dislike that particular 3D art style, because so many IPs utilize it and almost every character across them has same-face syndrome. similar head shape, huge eyes, the tiniest of noses

I think it might be a little too early to say she's for sure gonna be a robot? My first thought on seeing her sleeve was that it was going to be a prosthetic, which I think is a really exciting idea. It could also very well just be part of the clothing design to go along with the rest of her 80s aesthetic.

On the topic of transformations. I do agree that the early 2020 one is going to be season 1 and 2 outfits. It’s giving “Magic Wings” and “Charmix” with the bags on their sides. Most likely the later version outfits was then experimenting with different hairdos and sparkling outfits for future seasons. Because I’m sorry the hair they put Aisha in was kinda ugly 😂 Like I get what they thought they were going for. But it wasn’t giving. I also hope they take into each girl’s ethnicity and culture more for this reboot. I WANT to visit each girl’s home planet and get backstories for them. As well as see how the Flora, Musa, and Techna deal with their royalty on their planet since they’re not in charge. Does that change their perspective? How does that make them interact with Stella, Bloom (after she discovers she’s a princess of course), and Aisha? I mainly am hoping for this reboot to be heavily character driven. I want the other girls to get a spotlight. I don’t want them to kill off the black girl’s love interest 😒 Which is a high bar I know 😂😂 But I want my epic opening, transformations, and amazing characters. I also want them to fully showcase Flora’s powers because I also am a Flora Stan! 😌😌
I agree about the art style; I wish it was more stylized and interesting. Body diversity is important to me, so a one to one creation of the original style isn't what I'm looking for. A nod to the original style would be cool! Let's...not do a FATE The Winx Saga representation..something that feels natural and nice, not mean...and shallow.

im not usually a huge fan of cheaper 3d animation or the pixar face design, but i think the animation tests manage to just skirt the line for me, and i actually like the way Bloom's hair has an almost glow-y ombre effect, evoking fire imagery. would prefer more blue and less busy patterns, design would be much better by just getting rid of the leggings.

I would Like to see the following:
- A better story and plot, i really hope it’s not childish as the last few seasons. I Mean yes, Winx club is made for kids, but to please kids and older fans, I think making the story more mature would be a better idea.
- Stop putting Bloom in pink. I think bloom doesn’t look good in pink, she looks better with blues and yellows.
- Not having any racism. That means that Flora and Layla should have their original skintone.
- Better Dolls. The last and current winx dolls are quite cheap and trash. So I hope they give them Saran or Nylon instead of Poly, better fashion in both show and dolls as well.
Those are the things that I would see for the new winx club
To be honest I thought Tecna being an android always was a thing? At least early on in the franchise. I remember her saying things like she was going to switch herself off rather than going to bed and it even said she was an android in her character bio on the website. Either way I love her new look, I think it's really cute

I mostly like new designs, except for Bloom and Stella. Bloom's outfit is just too much and also pink isn't really her color. I like the general direction of her style, but it would've been better with less details. Stella on the other hand just lacks any details that would show her personality. It would have been nice to see the creators make a sequel series with an entirely new cast (with maybe some returning cast members in later seasons). I like Bloom, Aisha , Tecna, etc however I feel like their stories were mostly static now so it would be good to see a brand new winx club.

Growing up as both a girly girl and a young aromantic (though I didn't know it at the time), I often felt disconnected and unwelcome from girly media because it was so often focused on Protagonist Get Boyfriend, and Winx Club was by far one of the worst offenders- even though I really loved the fashion and the action and the entire concept of the show. Even as an adult, some of the romantic plotlines are near unwatchably grating, and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. I hope the new Winx will leave some room for kids who don't particularly care for romance. Especially girls, who are pretty much told from a young age by TV and other such things that romance will be an inevitable and essential part of their lives, and that it's weird and unfeminine if you're not into it.
I wouldn't mind if they scrap Helia. The only reason he existed was for Flora to have a boyfriend

this is what they should've done since season 4 ended, instead of trying to trick us soft rebooting it alongside nickelodeon, which they seem to regret seeing the instagram posts and the recent pronouncements iginio straffi has made, that reaffirm season 4 as the true ending of the original canon of the show.
I’ll be honest, I never really watched Winx when it was originally airing. I was a W.I.T.C.H. kid through and through (back when it was a “battle” between Nick and Disney-Nick clearly won, because no one else seems to remember W.I.T.C.H. 😅). But I’m interested to see a Winx revival. I have my fingers crossed for the best, we’ll just have to see if they waste the opportunity or not

Judging by the photos from this reboot, I am pretty excited and I look forward to it. I still think, that these designs are also good for older demographic, not just for children. That's the main problem I have with monster high series... They look so childish. I really tried to love them, but I just can not. Every brand, that is rebooting should focus at pleasing old and new fans equally, not just one group.
I think... Ill just stick with the original- though I hope that this version turns out good for the people who do wanna see it!
The characters designs are a lot better but I still prefer that Season 9 is continued to were the last Season left off just like the past Winx Club Season rather restart the whole series all over again in the reboot because I still would like to see the continued story of Icy's lost Kingdom with the Shaman Witch as the main Villain. Apart from that I'm still hoping to see more charcters from the original Winx Club Series like Kiko, Faragonda, Griselda, Palladium, Wizgiz, Griffin, Saladin, Codatorta, Sky, Brandon, Helia, Riven, Timmy, Nex, Thoren, Daphne, Pixies and Diaspro.
A real Winx Club in my opinion was ended after 2nd season (best art style (draw line style) and "normal", not so much magicial story). When I watched it for the first time on TV in 2004-05 I was about 14-15 years old and it's soo good... but...
Everything went wrong in 2007, 3rd season - that faires (Pixies) and other stuff like Enchantrix, girls different art style, too much magicial stuff etc. are just "magicial overload" for me...
This unnecessary changes in 3rd season, after watching two or three episodes pushed me away from the series and the entire franchise for good. Sad but true. :/
In these two seasons this series reminds me "Braceface" series, which I loved back in the day but later in 3rd season it went too much into cartoon for VERY small girls and that is just too much for me...
If they can give us multiple (fashionable) outfit changes I'd be satisfied

I'm neutral concerning the style , but i love how they're more different (the different body type and height etc) and i generally like the clothes (wow my favorite is Tecna that was my least favorite in previous series). About the fairy transformation i like better the more elaborated one. Ok the other one is more reminiscent of the original series bit it makes no sense to me to transform from an elaborate clothing to a simple basic one... It feels like a downgrade to me.
Right?!? I mean I still don't like the elaborate one but the 2021 redesign looks way too boring. not magical girl at all.

i understand wanting something closer to the og wunx club, but i never thought those designs looked good in 3D, one of the reasons i never fully liked the 3D movies (also the 3D in the nick version was also bad lol).
The actual design of the characters isnt the best/most unique. i think there could have been a better way to mix them together. i know the pixar was brought up, but i think the approach of making good updated 2D designs that look good as 2D (potentially for comics) that can translate into unique 3D styles :\

I love the original winx wish they used the original graphics I know it’s an older look but it would be cheaper and feel more like the original. I dont like them redoing the art style it feels way too different.

It would be interesting if Mitsi became like a liason between the fairies and humans. Like instead of Winx telling the entire world that fairies are real like they seem to do in the later seasons, what if Mitsi finds out about fairies from Bloom and when she finds out about the fairies wanting to help the earth she takes information that the fairies give her and becomes like a spokesperson, only no one knows that she is getting information from fairies since they don't believe they exists. Winx gives info to Roxy on earth and she gives it to Mitsi who then tells the humans?
I have trouble coping with all that pink on Bloom. I do like the color pink, but there is "too much". There's a reason the original used pink in moderation.
Also, the original had a good core to her outfits: low-waist jeans or denim skirt with a high-neckline knitted top.
Also, why is a public bathroom pink ?
I do think I'm busy design is very cute I just think that it needs to be changed a bit cuz it looks too cute like her glasses are a bit too big so it makes it look more nice than she actually is and her puffed sleeves make her look nicer also which makes no sense because Missy is really rude in the series

If they still decide to have Musa and Riven be a thing, they should have them eventually break up and permanently. I did like how they portrayed the toxic relationship and showed that it was bad. But what i didn’t like was how they stayed together even after the worst of their relationship. If they want to gear it towards children and if they want to do it right. They need to not give them the message that staying in toxic relationships is okay. But again, i do think they should still keep the dynamic for a while and let it worsen just so they know its wrong so they can have a correct approach to situations like that in real life.
Also in a little clip they showed us they showed them being angry like every time we've ever seen bloom in the nick era of Winx Club she never been able to fully be angry or just get mad or make dumb decisions like you did back in the first three seasons she was always at the perfect role model to kids that nobody liked because we're making a good protagonist they need to have flaws they need to be relatable and Bloom in The Nicky Arrow Winx Club was not relatable because all her flaws were burned away and it's actually kind of funny because for being the Fairy of the dragon flame that didn't allow her to actually be mad back in the nick era but now does the Nick dubs over I think they're repairing the show now

Why is flora barley dark? Like a tan white girl? I swear they better not. Also Stella is wearing an atrocious pink dress with a white turtle neck what!?! She would never wear that it’s giving scrunchy girl. I hope they keep Iisha (cant spell it) more girly too many shows pick the girl of color to like sports and act more masculine than the others its a bad stereotype look that Hollywood loves. Her outfit seem sporty compared to the others im scared.

A comment on the designs: I have no actual problem with Bloom's designs, it just seems like they are leaning into the fashion from the Believix-season. I find Aisha's design fitting, her thing was that she was sportsy and I can totally imagine running into her jogging or something in a park. Just like with Bloom, I get the feeling that they are going for Beliviex-season with Flora and I think they might make her human-color green to contrast with her fairy-color pink. Love Musa, nothing more needs to be said. I get the feeling that Rainbow is going for a modern French look for Stella, I think I might even see some European characteristics in her face-shape which adds to the Frenchness. I like that they are leaning into the whole technology/cyberpunk style with Tecna, it fits her. I just hope they don't make Aisha a girly-girl when she mostly is a tomboy, that they make Tecna a normal boy-crazy girl when it's obvious from the Original that she is on the Aroace spectrum, or that they erase the relationship problem between Raven and Musa since it was one of the more realistic representations of a real relationship in the show.
Bloom, Aisha and Stella got better outfits if you were wondering. Bloom got a similar color scheme as her og look, Stella got a more yellow color palette, Aisha got a full new outfit
not gonna lie, i've been tapped out of the winx world ever since that horrendous partnership with nickelodeon... that was pretty much the beginning of the end for me lol i even tried giving one the newer winx series a shot but couldn't get past the first episode unfortunately
i really wish they would leave the 3D/CG animation behind because it literally sucks all of the magic from what made the character designs so iconic and interesting in the first place. i know others have said 2D animation is largely too expensive to make these days, but i wish they would at least consider doing a combination of 2D and 3D the way Marvel did with X-Men '97... there's a reason why that series is already being named one of the most beautifully designed animations we've gotten in a long time.
