The barbie magic hairstyler game ruled my life from the ages of 3-5, and it became everyone else’s problem-i woke up visiting family members who were staying in our “computer room” because i wanted to show them the game and wasted countless cartridges of ink printing my looks to out on the kitchen fridge
Barbie Magic Hairstyler was a huge deal to me in sixth grade. My friends and I all loved it, making a bunch of styles, including all of the Sailor Scouts.
I LOVED Barbie Magic Hairstyler. I also remember trying to stage dramatic action scenes with the American Girl's Premiere (argumentative animations, then someone angrily punches the air and the other character collapses) There was also Barbie Storymaker, which was like a Barbie version of the American Girl's Premiere, but it never worked right and always terrified me by crashing and saying "this program has performed an illegal operation".
Reading through the Sailor Moon profiles I think it's so interesting that for the most part they're really accurate to what the profiles are in other resources - but the ones that are different I wonder if they were made up or changed to be more non-contriversal(?). Like Usagi & Makoto's favorite school subject has always been listed as Home Ec. but in this game it's "Music & History". Also Minako's dislikes usually include her mom or the police - but here, Mina's dislikes are "showoffs" Idk I'd be interested in what the devs did to make this game since it was made from scratch basically. Either way, fun video! Thank you for taking the time to install these to play them to their fullest
I used to play the mlp Hasbro flash games religiously on their website. My favorites were the wedding ones where you got to make a wedding cake for cadence and then design her dress
@@Eepop_stuffs Omg that was my favorite one too. So much so that either my parents bought everything for me, or there was a bug that let me get everything. Leaning towards a bug because my parents were NOT that generous LOL (though that makes me sound like "OMG I GOT FREE ROBUX BY DOING X"...)
@@gratedparmesan_ I never got any of the purchases but I remember watching videos of one of the dream game mini games (it was the princess one) and I was just thinking, I need that.
would absolutely love to see a video where you talk about which of your favorite game characters you'd like to see as fashion dolls. i know that we're often spoiled for choice when it comes to character figures, but usually when those include a "dress up" element, it's... ya know. who do you think would translate best to fashion doll form? who do you wish *could* translate despite their completely impractical costuming? (this is also a general excuse to talk about the fashions present in your favorite games)
seraphine from league of legends or the kda girls in general would make good dolls, they already all have their own fashion taste based on personality in their designs and you could continue that to new themes with modern fashion inspiration
I played American Girl's Premier TO DEATH. I was about 8 years old when it came out. I was weaving some HIGH DRAMA tales on my little CRT PC. The only one I really remember was one in which I had Josefina playing on the roof, for some reason. When she fell (for the sake of !!drama!!) I had another character react, in the flat voice of the TTS: "Josefina fell off the roof. Darn." My parents couldn't hold back their laughter at that, and continued to reference it for years. Darn.
Oh man I was OBSESSED with the Barbie Magic Hair Styler! They had it in the in the computer lab when I was in preschool and the five times they let us little ones get there they had to claws us out of the pcs. My sister got me a bootleg copy like two years later i think, but I never managed to make it run on our home computer. I also remember seeing screencaps of the Sailor Moon game when back in the day when I was learning how to google. Lol, I downloaded the top secret files one and edited it to make files for me an my friends! What a time...
The Sailor Moon game came out in 97??!!! I never saw it in stores or tv commercials for it, and I was in High school when Sailor Moon came to Canada in 95 so would had money to buy it for myself.
Gee, I really wish character creation in games, no matter RPGs or The Sims, included something like Barbie Hair Styler instead of a limited choice of pre-made hairstyles. It would then take me 5 days to make a character but it would be a time well-spent.
I have a tip for getting Mars's wand. When you go to the AMV's, click on the arrow that plays the final video then click on the right arrow. Once you have all five items, click on the star, the music video is replaced with a congratulations video and then you go to a full 3D world. Here, you can play the games again, but each time you come out of a game, the world will change between day, night and sunset and the weather will change! It's totally random.
AWWW this was super nostalgic for me, i played the barbie hairstyling game AND the american girl premiere game as a kid and spent so much time on both :') this made me really happy to see.
I have Barbie Magic Hairstyler downloaded on my PC rn, it's janky to play (like you mentioned, modern PC compatibility with these games is iffy) but it's super nostalgic for me~ I poured so many hours into that game when I was little, just loved it sm!! 😭💖 The sound effects are burrowed deep inside of my brain haha! I really love Barbie's bright and cheery voice in the old fashion games, she's so perfect! Great video, thanks for showcasing these, v nostalgic and fun for me to revisit some of these (I was born in '88 hehe)! 💖💖
I wasn’t around for this era of games, but one I did play as a kid was Lovely Lisa for the DS. It was pretty much just a collection of mini games where Lisa did laundry, got dressed and did her makeup, went grocery shopping and stuff like that. It was only recently after starting to collect Licca-chan dolls that I made the connection and realized I had already met Licca years ago on the DS with a different name! I find it strange they made a Licca-chan game in English to sell in America when the actual dolls were not available here as far as I know. (Not directly related but I’d love to see a video from you on the Licca-chan magical girl anime from the 90s, Super Doll Licca-chan! I watched the whole show and it was pretty fun and kind of wild sometimes.)
My older sister had a bunch of CD ROM games that I got to play when she moved away to college, and American Girl Premiere was one of them! I was a massive American Girl fan, having read all the books (again, from my sister's collection), and harangued my mom into getting me two dolls (Kaya and Julie) I was like 10 years old but could not for the life of me figure out how to get the various mechanics to work, and after several minutes of struggling with the voice lines and choice paralysis from all the costumes and characters, I gave up. Looks like it could have been really fun for someone more patient though!
Hands down the best barbie PC game is barbie secret agent. It came out in 2001 and it was SUCH a good game. I also loved barbie pet rescue. We had such a hard time getting it to play on our PC when i was little but it did not disappoint when my dad finally got it to work 😂
This video inspired me to try and find an old childhood favorite again, and I finally found it! It's called Disney Princess: Magical Dress-Up and it's been haunting me for years.
Oooh I was going to write a comment about AG Premiere before you got to it in the video. It was super robust, I played it well into my early teen years because when I was really young I could barely figure it out. I liked writing so I put a lot of effort into my plots, for a while. Later I mostly just messed around with it. By far the feature that gave me the most hours of amusement was the text to speech function, which of course you could make say naughty things and also it could not pronounce incorrectly spelled words/onomatopoeia for endless laughs. I would write like 'Ahahaha...' but make it go on forever and the text to speech pronounced it eh-ha-eh-ha-eh-ha for like, five minutes. I had the dress designer one as well - that one I had forgotten about. I had a lot of late 90s/early 2000s children's PC games, but surprisingly not a lot of doll ones
I had Barbie Storymaker growing up and was obsessed with it, you could really do some crazy stuff and it was really silly. I have no idea how to get it to work, I still have the CD though. I remember the sound effects were like, early asmr to me haha.
This takes me back to playing with the Dream Doll Designer CD by Just Pretend. I never did order a doll because they were too pricy for me. But I did luck out and get one with a bunch of clothes on clearance
My gosh, I found your channel as I started getting into stuff through finding out about Monster High and getting interested in everything, and I just love your personality, you seem so sweet! Then reading the Bratz Flaunt Your Fashion title made me sure that I'd love you and your content haha 🥰
When i was little, i was always so upset because i always wanted to play the Barbie and Bratz PC and console games due to being relegated to only having their handheld GameBoy games. I specifically remember wanting so badly to play the MyScene CD Rom.
ooomg inquisitions hairstyles..... diabolical is the perfect word for what they did!! heres to hoping veilguards hairstyles are a little less.... well. you know. and if you ever need any pointers for getting some of this stuff to work, don't hesitate to ask! i got briefly obsessed with finding and playing my old windows 95 pc games (shout out to fisher price and putt putt). you should do a video only on the barbie horse games, which were my favorites lol
I completely forgot that the bratz game existed and the bit of the voice clips took me BACK. I used to have this game on my PlayStation and I can remember having a “dance contest” at my birthday party with my brand new dance mat. Truly a blast from the past, thank you for reminding me!
I’ve spent hundreds of hours on the Barbie fashion designer game, it was so much fun 🤩 I think it was really cool that you could print out the patterns for the outfits and construct them for your own dolls, it taught me so much about pattern making! And the 3D runway sequence to showcase your outfit was always so laggy and glitchy 😂
I had that Barbie camera, and have since bought two more as collectables. I can confirm that there was about half a pixel in those photos but having my own camera in 1998? Absolutely life changing
I was obsessed with the dkiss dressing games. Paper doll style dressing up games with anime characters to dress up. You could find them online in many anime websites in late 90's
MOTHERFUCKER, I PLAYED BARBIE MAGIC HAIR STYLER but i have no idea where! or how! or why!!! but the second screen dropped on me like a bucket of cold water i'm floored
When my parents bought our first family PC they got a 4 pack of Hot Wheels games for my brother and a 4 pack of Barbie games for me. It included the Carnival Barbie Detective game, one of the Horse Riding Club titles, an Undersea Adventure and Barbie Magic Hairstyler - which was probably my favorite. I spent so much time applying shimmer lipsticks and growing outrageous bangs. The sound effects were delightful! I think it definitely informed my love of dressing-up and creating Sims, which remains my favorite part of the game today.
OH MAN, I loved Barbie PC games so much as a kid. I was not much of a Gamer at all, but slap Barbie on the CD-rom cover and I was all over it! I logged SO many hours on Barbie Magic Hairstyler, It was so much fun.
I never played any of these games, but I did enjoy the sims type games and Roller Coaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon etc. I also enjoyed Clockwork Knight (was that on Sega Saturn?) which was a game whose characters were toys. I would play these games all night until the sun came up in the morning.
Barbie Magic Hairstyler, the American girl theater thing, and the sailor moon game were all staples on my PC growing up. In addition to the Barbie fashion designer and story maker games … so many good and fun memories 😭 Also my comp also glitched out at the end sequence of the Barbie Magic hairstyler and the singalong part of the sailor moon game
I had a Dear America Choose your own adventure game!!! Sort of. You would read their diary and give them advice and they would follow it and the story would change! I feel like there was some background visuals too? I LOVED it so so much.
So excited to see the American Girls Premiere on this list! I spent hours and hours with that game in elementary school. For me it was an digital extension of how I played with the dolls. The animations and digital sets make me so nostalgic ❤
I really really want to play that hairstylist Barbie game, it looks like so much fun and I love how accurately they captured the different face molds like the superstar and Christie faces 💖💖💖
Thanks to this video, I unlocked some memories that seemed to be hidden away, related to two 2000' Barbie PC games. Kelly Club: Pet Parade, and Barbie iDesign! Don't know where they ended up, but I remember having a blast playing both! Thanks for helping me remember them :D
I cannot express how much I loved this video. Please do more of this content in the future, even a full let’s play video. I know you mentioned you would want to do a full video on Barbie Detective and I am so here for that
I had hoped and prayed you would bring up the Sailor Moon 3D cd-rom and how I GASPED when you delivered! Goddamn, I was obsessed with the dress up doll mini game 😅 PS: I genuinely recommend looking up a video of the final sing along with the same 3d animation from the runway 🤣
Barbie Magic Hair Styler was THE Barbie game I owned. Thank you for going over it! 😭 The What's Her Face game was sooo good. Used to play it at my friend's house, and I've been tempted to revisit it.
I feel like I’m going crazy lol I swear the only Bratz game I ever had was Rock Angelz for the PS2 but when you showed the footage of the Bratz rhythm game it brought back so many memories lol either there was a mini game just like it in Rock Angelz or maybe one of my friends had that Bratz game for their PS because now I swear I’ve played that before but didn’t own it personally lol good memories either way! I miss old goofy PC games for kids, I feel like they don’t really exist anymore
My favorite of this genre of game was the Barbie Rapunzel one where you had to restore the castle, i remember my sister always had to leave the room during the ending sequence cause the stone version of Stefan freaked her out 😂
One game i adored as a kid was the 2004 Barbie Fashion Show game. It's still easily playable on modern PCs and is a huge nostalgia trip for me, I swear the entire OST is burned into my brain. Give it a try if you can!
I totally forgot about that Barbie hair stylist game I played the shit out of that as a kid I think at a friends house. Years later when Toca Boca made a similar game for mobile I downloaded for a niece to play with I found myself playing it unironically all the time and now I’m remembering why 😅
Gurl, I love this video and just listening to you talk about video games in general. Would be super interested in some non doll related gaming content if you ever felt like it. 💜
omg the Barbie Magic Hairstyler just unlocked so many memories i had totally forgotten about 😭😭 you're right, i did spend hours on that game and would print out every single look i created (printing was my bread and butter back then lmao) but Bratz (2002) definitely changed my life in ways you couldn't imagine lol the music is actually so fire and i'd be lying if i said i didn't bust out those iconic dance moves every now and then 😂
Omg I had Barbie Magic Hair Styler! Core memory unlocked. That was so fun. All the Barbie games I had were so fun- Barbie Detective, Barbie Secret Agent, Barbie Pet Rescue, etc.
Gosh, this makes me wanna go boot up my old favorites. XD We didn't have a lot of videogames until I was a teenager, but we did have a number of PC games of the Barbie and Kelly variety. Kelly Club and Kelly Club Pet Parade were some of my favorites. Curious if you've ever played them! I also enjoyed MyScene goes to Hollywood, The Little Mermaid 2, and Barbie Horse Adventure: Mystery Ride. Horse Adventure wasn't big on fashion, but it was so much fun. XD
Omg my sis and I would waste hours messing around with the America Girl Premiere game, but I don't think either of us actually understood how it worked. I just vaguely remember clicking the animations a bunch and laughing with my big sis ahaha~
Dude. I 1000% forgot Working Woman Barbie's PC game existed... and I'm pretty positive it's one of the reasons I loved flash dress-up games of the early 2000s and now have a graphic design degree 😅 I was OBSESSED with packing and unpacking Barbie's satchel, too. I also had the Barbie hairstyler and enjoyed chopping her hair off short, just like I'd want to, but never dream of, doing to my dolls.
My dad was obsessed with making sure I knew how to use a computer, so I had probably 100 CD games throughout my childhood. I LOVED that Barbie hairdressing game. The best ones were the horse games though!
OMG, I totally forgot all about barbie hair dresser, I played that game for hours as a kid. Thank you for making this video you really unlocked a happy memory for me. 🥰
I definitely was one of the girlies who played the console Bratz games as a kid, the Rock Angelz and the Forever Diamondz ones specifically. I still have my copy of the GameCube version of Rock Angelz to this day. (Also yay for the Granblue Fantasy mention. I think Arcana Heart might be up Darling Dolls' alley in terms of fighting games.)
I didn't have the hair styling game but someone I knew must have had it, because those graphics just beat me over the head with nostalgia. I'd love more girly games reviews and look -backs! I had a barbie PC one with like, skiing and snowboarding??
There was a game similar to the first American Girl game that my brother and I obsessed over that had a similar principle, but with the 90's Spider-Man animated series. We would create our own storylines and record all the dialogue. I think we would have had lots of fun with the AG one, too. ❤
"I'm lucky to have such a lovely room, my parents died when I was five." is way funnier than it should be I feel evil laughing at it
I'm right there burning in Hell with you!
It's just such a sharp contrast lol 😂
22:46, it gets me every time 😭

I love that your humor is coming trough more and more. Makes your content even better
Goddamn, I was obsessed with the dress up doll mini game 😅
PS: I genuinely recommend looking up a video of the final sing along with the same 3d animation from the runway 🤣
Barbie Magic Hair Styler was THE Barbie game I owned. Thank you for going over it! 😭
The What's Her Face game was sooo good.
Played the hell out of the Sailormoon game as a kid. I nearly forgot the existence of that game and thanks for the trip down memory lane
My favorite of this genre of game was the Barbie Rapunzel one where you had to restore the castle, i remember my sister always had to leave the room during the ending sequence cause the stone version of Stefan freaked her out 😂
Magic Hairstyler was my JAM when I was a kid! The hair growing comb gave me brainworms and I wish it was real 😢
i love your commentary so much lol
i had the barbie hair styer game as a child and havent thought about it in years! thanks for the blast from the past
omg the Barbie Magic Hairstyler just unlocked so many memories i had totally forgotten about 😭😭 you're right, i did spend hours on that game and would print out every single look i created (printing was my bread and butter back then lmao)
but Bratz (2002) definitely changed my life in ways you couldn't imagine lol the music is actually so fire and i'd be lying if i said i didn't bust out those iconic dance moves every now and then 😂
i was so obsessed with the barbie princess bride game and the barbie fashion designer game :)
XD
OMG THE SAILOR MOON GAME. I played that!!!!! What an old memory. Goodness. Those graphics... STATE OF THE ART.
wow the what's her face game really unlocked some memories, I forgot it even existed!
only psychoanalysis i have on your choice of fighting game characters is that its peak
Barbie Magic Hair Styler was my first ever PC Game and I LOVED IT. I wish I could still play it sometimes for sake of the good memories!
Please make this a series!
Please do a full Barbie games video! Or if you felt comfortable streaming you could do a Let’s Play :) Those PC games were so much fun.
SOOOOO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE!!!! 🩷
Omg my sis and I would waste hours messing around with the America Girl Premiere game, but I don't think either of us actually understood how it worked. I just vaguely remember clicking the animations a bunch and laughing with my big sis ahaha~
Dude. I 1000% forgot Working Woman Barbie's PC game existed... and I'm pretty positive it's one of the reasons I loved flash dress-up games of the early 2000s and now have a graphic design degree 😅
I was OBSESSED with packing and unpacking Barbie's satchel, too. I also had the Barbie hairstyler and enjoyed chopping her hair off short, just like I'd want to, but never dream of, doing to my dolls.
had a game of this genre and period - dream doll designer ! the cd ran on our windows 98
Oh my gosh, thank you for reviewing the bratz game that has haunted me for a decade. I would waste hours playing it and unlocking all the outfits.
My dad was obsessed with making sure I knew how to use a computer, so I had probably 100 CD games throughout my childhood. I LOVED that Barbie hairdressing game. The best ones were the horse games though!
another banger video. i love how you mix all my interests together so well
Ah unsurprising that you're a cags main. I love her
If you make a part 2 I’d def wanna see the My Scene CD rom games!
OMG, I totally forgot all about barbie hair dresser, I played that game for hours as a kid. Thank you for making this video you really unlocked a happy memory for me. 🥰
Thrilled to find out your also a dragon age fan, together maybe we can start a prayer circle for better hairs in DATV 🙏
Always a great watch, thanks Darling.
"I'm lucky to have such a lovely room. My parents died when I was five" That's a WILD line to have in a children's game
That Barbie magic hairstylist game seems really fun. It has a lot of things child me would have loved to in a game
8:08 I killed HOURS UPON HOURS with this game as a really little kid.
I didn't have the hair styling game but someone I knew must have had it, because those graphics just beat me over the head with nostalgia. I'd love more girly games reviews and look
-backs! I had a barbie PC one with like, skiing and snowboarding??
You need to try crayola magic wardrobe specifically the history and First Ladies themed ones.
That was so fun to watch, yes to more gameplay videos
I love these sorts of videos, would looove to see more of them! :>
no, no, you don't understand: the Bratz rhythm game DID in fact change my life!!
Love a doll/gaming crossover episode!
The one I played the most growing up was probably Barbie Storymaker.
Also, I'd love to know your thoughts on the Soul Caliber series!
Love it! I main Talim and Amy
@@DarlingDollz oooh fun! I love Talim and Raphael.
There was a game similar to the first American Girl game that my brother and I obsessed over that had a similar principle, but with the 90's Spider-Man animated series. We would create our own storylines and record all the dialogue. I think we would have had lots of fun with the AG one, too. ❤
I loved the Barbie Magic Hairstyler game when I was kid 😂
You always have the most original and interesting videos :) I am a gamer too so this was fun to see.
I had the what's her face game and only ever spent time on the dressing room. A lot of time.
