The Revs are building up after the startup because of the GPF / OPF catalytic temperature thing. Same with my M2C and the 992 Porsche I had the pleasure to drive some months ago. Love your GT4 it’s my dream car. Excellent editing!
@@User-th6yy yes but with catalyst, when you car is a temperature, it's turned off. It's called "catalyst heating strategy" Cars with GPF/OPF do that every single start...
@@carswithluke You can actually have that filter removed and programmed out not to throw fault codes but it would void the Porsche warranty since it would have to be aftermarket coding not done by an authorized Porsche dealer . It's definitely annoying but you can thank the emission laws for that.
This has got to be one of the best Porsche 718 GT4 reviews ever for its cinematic and review quality. All revs. No music. Great commentary! Looking forward to one of my favourite 2-door sports cars ever. Perfect balance for this car between weight, power, handling and performance. Thanks for sharing!
A great car reviewer, absolutely one of the best out there. No flexing no bragging. Just being humble and simple, and not ashamed of afraid to say I don’t know something. Keep on the good work.
Haha yeah fair point 😂 however the street is fine and always has been there, it’s under that they are working on so a local told me and they did a terrible job of making a temporary side road which is not like Switzerland and baring in mind many sports cars go there.
Whilst Porsche drives are gorgeous and you promote them well, your video's and editing abilities are just sublime. I watch this channel for it's quality. Well done. Keep up the good work. PS I have been on all these mountain passes, they are amazing!
Incredibly well made and beautiful video 😍 I actually also found it very motivating! Immediately opened Premier Pro and Imported some clips after viewing this 😂 Thanks Luke for sharing your passion and inspiring me to create stuff! 🙏
Amazing video skills, Luke! Love your GT4 specs, the attention to details, its rawness and those stunning mountain-passes. What a car, what a place, what a dream machine!!! Got mine too, after some 20 yrs of dreaming and savings! Like yours, my GT3 Touring is a true driver’s weapon that requires serious skills to remain below the speed limits or well above them ... during track days. 🤪 It is no exaggeration to say that Porsche has perfected the art of driving! Greetings Luc from the Canadian Pacific West Coast.
8:50, all new cars do that Luke! They do it to warm up their OPF's to make sure they work as intended. It's a bit like a cold start to warm up your catalytic converter.
modern cars don't have jokes anymore it is managed very differently that's why warm up times have drastically reduced. It is all about the co2 management...just like your gearing and stop start...
That's one of the craziest road works I've ever seen! I can't believe the sharp drop from the previous surface, madness. Great to see the GT4 on the channel again 👍
Looks beautiful Luke. It sits so well and a great colour. Your production is also breathtaking. The scenery helps, not sure it would have the same impact in Slough.
Haha thanks mate! I don’t think it would have in Slough no 😂 I only think of “The Office” when I hear that town, safe to say it’s not on my list to explore.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Just what we needed buddy, a fantastic intro scintillating noise of a flat 6 and the joys of the mountains...... This video had it all.... Luke you've suppast yours again buddy 👍🏻👏🏻😉👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video! Well specced car! Have my 718 Spyder since last September and its a perfect car to live with. You can easily daily drive any Porsche. I don't daily it as I have some other cars as well but its far more usable than an Audi R8 Spyder or Alpine. For roadtrips you will love the flexibility. Regarding the scatching - I did not lower my Porsche cars just because of that and Porsche is not offering a lift-system for the GT4/Spyder. I scraped my daily-driven 987 quite some times with stock PASM suspension. Porsches have long overhangs front and that makes them prone to a front lip scratch. Most GT-Porsche I've seen are scratched underneath, but these are basically cheap plastic parts intended to be replaced from time to time. Two thinks I don't like: 1) Exhaust flap behavior - you named it in another video. 2) Way too long second gear. Rest is perfect! May be we see each other on a mountain pass, as I am from CH as well. Keep on living you dream, Luke!
The higher starting revs are necesarry to reheat the cat so it can work as fast as possible. (needs to be hot to work and it cools down quickly when the engine is off)
This video was fine art. Thanks for clarifying the factory setting on suspension height never caused the front splitter to hit over speed bumps or anything in Zurich. Curious which car is the most fun to drive thru a Swiss mountain pass, the 718 GT4 or your friends McLaren 675LT?
@@carswithluke can i ask you something maybe a bit personal? Brand new to your channel so maybe you have discussed it in a previous vid. How do you live in Switzerland? Considering i thought you had to be native and obtaining citizenship is rather hard. I only ask because you're literally living a dream of mine. Just curious ya know.
cameron mckinely actually, it‘s not really simple but just learn german and have a fair amount of money - because life here is insanely expensive. There are even comedians joking about it. If you are allowed to work here, however, it will be fine, because you will earn a lot as well, which balances it out.
Nice Vid! Got my GT4 in March; did some 2.500km and some 30 Laps on the Nürburgring Nordschleife so far. Recently I changed the strut bearings to GT3 RS type to increase the Amount of Cumber (stock 1.3 max 2) now 3Degrees at front; (2.5 at the rear). Installed the full Rollcage; changed the Brakepads to „Pagid SL“. Well, I have never had a more fun Track-Tool. Only Negative Point, the 2. Gear Rate is far too short, so always Need to switch between 2. and 3. (Maybe Porsche did that on Purpose to keep the Distance to the mighty GT3!?). It is not a „Power and Torque-Monster but enough Punch to get a big Grin on my Face all the Time!! Do i miss the PDK? Well when it comes to Laptimes it surely costs some Seconds per Lap; but the Manual in this Car, especially with the „Autoblip“ Downshift Function on is so much Fun, i never really miss the PDK. Still put down an Option on the coming GT4 RS; but that is gonna be a pure Track Car, so not as multifunktional as the „normal“ GT4! Love the Car!!
Hi Luke just another great video thanks.......as for the start up Porsches always start high at around 2000 revs that’s what gives the gorgeous sound as you turn the ignition..... however if the engine is at temperature it should quickly run below 1000 rpm soon after
Lovely car! Genuinely a bit jealous here :) The white complements the shapes. Looks perfect now when it's lowered. The wing on the higher stands always seems to be a bit weird when I see it. But when seeing the car from the side profile it's just perfect. Tire writing: had it also on my A45 AMG but got dirty after passing through some puddles and it looked bad. so I removed it. But I loved it. And as always: amazing video!!! One of the best car UA-camrs. And for me you are the best cinematic car UA-camr out there!!! Keep up the good work!
